Cosmopolitan - Early 2017 Parking Fees

I wonder how long Tropicana (jeez, have not been there for years!) and Hooters will last?

 

2017 will seem to be the year of Ellis Island! With almost all of the strip covered with paid parking, it's a quick parking spot for the cost-conscious. And while parking there, why not try the steak special

 

So will Tropicana and Venetian announce fees before or after the New Year?

 

We're all aware that there's an easy way around these parking fees (resort fees, inflated food/booze prices, sub-par gambling conditions)...right?

It ain't insulin, gang. Don't like the price? Don't pay it.

 

After MGM started it kind of forced the hand of everyone else. Because you're going to get people doing exactly what people on here were planning to do. Park there and then walk over to other properties. True it may have mean a few people would end up staying at Cosmo instead but a lot more people are going to be parking there and end up at bellagio for dinner, see O or even go over to Aria for carbone, etc. It's also not that bad of a walk over to T-Mobile Arena so Cosmo is almost forced to do this otherwise their garage is jammed with folks that aren't even spending money there.

Harrahs New Orleans can be expensive for parking but it's easy to get a few hours validated if you're eating there. Or you get all day parking validated with like 30 minutes worth of gambling.

 

I so agree with you. Also, I assume everyone on this board is at least a "minor" gambler and with the player's card, it is free (except for bottom level). Everywhere in the country (almost) charges for parking.

 

Curious to hear about how car rental companies and taxi companies bottom line will be effected by parking cost, Lyft and Uber?

 

Haven't seen this but what if the gate/meter/attendant operated with an active room key? Instead of players card? Then those just parking for the sake of parking would be charged. And any purchases while on the property would validate parking? How easy.
Somebody probably demanded this perk of paid parking and screwed it up for the rest of you.

 

I like the idea of using room keys, that's typically how most non Vegas hotels control parking access. The one drawback is that it allows convention goes to get by without paying and that's the one group that should be paying.

 

With the exception of AC I don't think any casino charges for parking. If your only means to get to the casino are via car your are in a way paying to enter a casino.

 

That's actually pretty genius! Interestingly, I've been seeing the nicer properties bring their room rates down and start charging more ancillary fees and being stingy with the drink system

 

AC doesn't charge if you earn a certain number of TCs -- which could be earned from merely dining

 

funny thing i went to the outlet mall downtown today nice sign say free parking. they know if u come you will spend.

if your going to the strip its all ready over priced tourists trap trap,ur spending something so validate if there that worried but too pay 300$ or 3000$ for a concert or fight ticket and pennie pinch or parking leaves a bad taste in ur mouth thats why locals dont go to the trip.

It's the slow season! I would think it would be a very poor time to roll out such things as paid parking or yet another nuisance fee!

Well, everyone will still go so complaints are moot.

Pretty soon, the little things about Vegas will become prologue. If another locale EVER decides to put multiple casinos very near each other.....

 

I too think that hotel guests should be free.

However, Vegas parking rates are still super low compared to elsewhere. Baltimore will run you $30 or more at an Inner Harbor hotel.

 

except vegas is a desert and go 2 blocks from the strip u can park for free on the street any were. try that in a major city u cant.

and u would think a 40$ resort fee would cover ur parking or a 200 meal or gambling. theres a reasons locals keep away from the tmobile arena and mgm properties becuase they charge when theres too much for free every where else and rember expect for weekend vegas is dead,
thats why top golf is begging locals , sls just had a month if ur local u eat for half price , excalubur hookers were giving 5$ bjs too locals for happy hour and validating your parking just too get u into that smoke filled dump.

 

You may be able to park for free but I bet you that the casinos are going to make a nice bit of money on parking.

 

That would mean not visiting our happy place. I have all these fees too, but you have to pay to play. It's not the money it's the principle. All this nickel & diming is getting out of hand. Pay toilets will be next. Then an entry fee into the casino. I better stop giving them ideas lol.
