I made 7 stars over last year and have my annual retreat planned for dec 31-Jan 4th. everything is confirmed and set along with my $500.00 folio credit. I realize hosts get paid off of people like me, I realize that is the business. I am getting more than usual "pressure" to play lately for this trip as well as a one night trip I have planned in Cherokee this weekend. My Cherokee host even went as far to email me "I can get you a room on the property but I need you to play ALOT"

Like I said I get it, I haven't gambled as much on my last few trips, lower bankroll, new girlfriend who likes to gamble but also do non- gambling things as well so I don't spend quite as much time in the casino.

As far as the Vegas trip I don't feel obligated to go overboard with the gambling, I feel like I have damn well earned the trip with my status over the last 2 years. Cherokee host has really pissed me off to be honest, I have had several trips there and lost and several where I have won. I don't like to be pressured in to anything, specifically gambling. I'll play when and how much I feel like. If I need to pay for my own room I will do so, so I don't feel pressured.

Would just like your folks thoughts on "earned" trips and "obligations" to gamble. I like my Vegas host, I want him to make money, I want to "do right" by him but at the end of the day this is a Vacation! I want to do what I want and have fun without feeling obligated.

Technically aren't all of these benefits already earned? I realize the less I play the less I will get but these things have ben earned in my opinion. I mean they aren't going to make me pay for everything at the end of my 7 stars trip if I don't gamble enough are they? lol

    your thoughts?

    Just to add to this

this is the first time in 2 years any host has ever asked to "promise" to play a lot or they need me to play a lot (Harrah's Cherokee host mostly)

I know its the end of the year and they are pushing but how obligated am I supposed to feel?

Just first time dealing with this and want to see how others feel or "do"

    thanks guys and gals

I'm 7 stars as well. This gives you a free room whenever you want. Many times I will just make the reservation without the help of a host and I will play without pressure even though I don't get any back end comps.

You definitely have the wrong kind of host.

Also I sent the Harrah's host an email last night and asked her how much am I supposed to play? you tell me

I told her if I was going to be pressured I would pay for the room myself or cancel the reservation and save the money for Vegas

I just cancelled two planned trips to Cherokee. I'm just sick of losing there on their tight slots. I'd rather save the money for Vegas. My host recently left. He was great - no pressure. (That may be why he's gone!) I haven't met my new host. I think my play level at Cherokee is probably not worth his attention. I'm very interested in you host's response. Please update when she replies. You're right we're all better off paying for rooms and not worrying about pressure to play.

my previous host at harrah's was great! always sending me offers, getting me rooms anytime I wanted and never mentioning play levels. since this new host came on I was offered a room off property (which has never happened since 7 stars and the hotel at the casino was NOT sold out that weekend) last time and then this time offered a room on property but with the LOTS OF PLAY email.

I can't believe she emailed you saying play a lot !!! Wtf I also don't believe she is a good host... like you mention I GET IT they get paid based on our ADT (bonus wise, at least that how they get paid here locally) my Vegas host says indirectly saying that I went over my "up front comps" which I really don't care if they don't like it then I will use someone else. Good luck my friend

this is her response when I requested a room (remember this is based on an unsolicited email she sent me this week

I can put you on property but you have to promise me you will play lots!

    My response

I can't promise anything, I've played LOTS over the last 2 years. If the comp is not going to be honored then I understand. I know how it works, I get it. But I feel like I have EARNED my 7 star status and I know it is running out until I earn it next year. If I'm going to be pressured gambling is not fun and not worth it.

Is there a set amount I need to gamble Friday? I mean let's be clear or I may just wait until Vegas
    .

Will update thread if I get a response, she is off today and tomorrow

"Promise me play a lot"??? This sounds too far fetch but it's like "extortion" she should leave it up to how much you want to play.... please keep us post how this works out.

You should write to her and give her link to this page - let her aware that you are member at VMB and most of memebers not happy with her email. I totally agree she could have written that email more professionally...

It was almost written like she wrote it like we had a relationship (host-player) or something. I have never met this host and only got an email saying she was my new host. Other than the one time I tried to get a room and was denied that is the only interaction I have had other than her sending emails asking me if I needed a room.

Sounds like an over-zealous new hire or one who's afraid her "numbers" don't quite pan out.

What's so F-in special about Cherokee that requires a lot of play for a one night trip? I'm lost here. I'm betting you could've booked it on your own through the TR page and should do so bin the future.

And to me the annual trip is already earned. They shouldn't give you a hard time about using the guaranteed trips for making Seven Stars considering what you have to do to get there. The status isn't automatic and from what I can tell they have no problem dropping people out that they don't feel give enough play.

Make sure you get all your benefits and then get off the hamster wheel. You can get plenty of good things out of Total Rewards without maintaining 7Stars or stupid hosts.

I would TOTALLY IGNORE the request from the host. She is out of line. Play what you want to play.

I would never, ever play to satisfy a host. I see folks talk about "pressure" to play at all casinos... but that is usually self inflicted (vs this case). Play as you want.

I agree, like I said I have NEVER been "pressured" until recently

I have just enough redneck in me to tell them to go F themselves and give me what I deserve lol

especially being my firstt interaction with them, I might would understand if it had been with a long term host where there was a relationship
