United and American fly puddle jumpers to IAH and DFW, respectively, and I have to change terminals which stinks when they have to store my luggage below and I have a time crunch in between flights. With Delta I find ATL much more user friendly than IAH and DFW. I might be in the minority by saying I like ATL, but I find it an extremely efficient airport.

I don't mind going a little out of the way to ATL.

After my last two trips I'm pretty much done with Southwest. Good prices but a pain in the butt to fly from PNS.

I once flew from Puerto Rico to panama in a p3 orion.

i was not aircrew, just a passenger. All the actual seats were for the crew so my "seat" was a number on the floor with a seat belt. No actual seat at all. just sat on the floor with a seat belt on.

    Flight was about 8 hours.

I would love to know about that option to get upgrade with credit card. I am 99% sure that does not exist. There might be an option to pick your seat but not upgrade to the better economy. And speaking of that, it is still economy. It is still three across and you can get a middle seat - that you pay extra for. You do get a few inches of legroom, but nothing wider in the seat/space.

I have the credit card. You do not get the option to get the upgrade. It used to be given upon booking with certain Medallion levels, but not anymore. The credit card may give you preferred seating, meaning you can pick your seat when you book, but it does not give you the upgrade option when you book.

    Sorry, I misspoke.
I meant to say.....Delta you get to pick your seat with the CC - Medallion level - (NOT free upgrade.) And BEWARE getting "upgraded" to a middle seat!
But pay with Amex and bags are free.
Ugh so many hoops to go through lately just to NOT get a bunch of extra fees tacked on.

    I thought ATL was easy-peasy!
In the past, I had always avoided ATL but I'd much rather go through ATL than DEN!!!

Oh man That brings back memories!!. I once flew from Chicago to Panama on a C-130. I felt like I was part of the cargo. Flight time: 8 hours. Forget about amenities. Then had to make the return flight back to Chicago.

Isn't this the same as Spirit, except they charge extra if you want the seat belt?

Delta Comfort is great but the elbow room just kills it for me though. For flights over 5 hours, I'd rather fork over the extra coin for first class.

I despise it with a passion... Just like O'Hare in winter or when the weather sucks.

O'hare is my 2nd least favorite airport.
The drive, parking, car rentals, security...all of it is a freaking mess.
I started traveling light because of O'hare.
I seriously never want to ever have to queue up in line at O'hare ever again for any reason if I can avoid it.

For a large airport, Atlanta is very easy to move around, find your flight, get services, etc. I wish more airports worked as well - like Ohare, LGA, JFK, IAD,MIA for example.

I fly Delta a lot and I've been upgraded a couple times to the Comfort class. I don't think it's worth the extra money (unless you're a heavy drinker - free alcoholic drinks!).

For me, I didn't find there was any noticeable difference in the seats from those in Economy. I'm a tall guy - I was still uncomfortable in Economy Comfort.

Actually, my reason for doing the Comfort upgrade was a sort of bait-and-switch by Delta. Initially, I researched flights that were on 767s and found one through ATL with CClass for a fairly reasonable amount vs econ. Picked my seat and felt like I had done quite well overall. Kept watching to see how the load was going on my flight. At first it looked like there were hardly any seats being booked in any class. Then, one day there was a notification from Delta advising me about a change in my flight. They had downsized the equipment from the 767 to a 737 and their automation had reassigned my seat since there is a different CClass config on each aircraft. Due to the lesser number of those seats, I was then in row 13. Not usually a superstitious person, but, it was the principle more than anything regarding these changes. Obviously, the equipment change was done in an effort to use a plame with fewer seats if the load wasn't going fast enough. Or, the cost of operating a smaller plane was the readon. Regardless, I feel like I got screwed with the extra money I paid for a Comfort Class seat on a 767. I did inquire about my dilemma and was only able to learn that I could pay 200.00 to change flights if I wanted to. Thanks Delta! I'm a platinum Amex card holder that means virtually nothing in situations like these. I get a free companion ticket each year and hadn't used it this year, so that would potentially cost them more, had I used it than letting me change flights and waiving the 200.00 penalty.
I w as able to change seat (no charge!) to a different row after someone apparently cancelled their seat and it became available.

Wow, Mike...your airfares out of PNS are really high... Round trip, First Class on Virgin America, out of Dallas, is $500 for 6/15 depart & 6/18 return.
If you could get to DAL for a cheap SWA fare, that would almost seem worth it, based on some of the fares I saw out of PNS.

I'm 6'3. My flight from London is a little longer (10 hours) - and I fly business class (BA flat beds usually ). Anything over 4 hours and I'm not flying coach!

That is a truly different class - nothing to compare to economy plus or whatever each airline calls it.

The 767 is great plane to fly, especially if you travel as a couple. Seats on each side are sets of two. So, no middle seats. That is worth way more to me than those "plus" seats with a few extra inches of legroom, but still a middle seat.

(to clarify, the 767 is 2 x 3 x 2. The middle section does have a middle seat)

That's exactly why I was looking for those planes. Actually, it looks like Delta has switched all of their LAS-ATL flights to 737s as opposed to the 67s. I also wanted to avoid changing planes in MSP die to potential weather issues in late December. They mostly fly 757s there which really isn't any better than the 737-900er. So, here's hoping ATL isn't weather-plagued then either. No more non-stops from LAS-MEM except Allegiant, which is not even an option in perfect weather, etc.
