No, it's not VMB. Hah! But first thing I do is check my lottery tickets, degenerate gambler (if it's a lottery morning). Then I check my Football Pool if I didn't stay awake long enough to check. Then I read my two e-papers, then I check FB. Then pick up my work and private emails. Then I check my Vegas sites. I'm awake early in the morning so have at least 3 hours to do stuff, while I can't sleep anymore.

My email notification to see if there is something that I need to read first thing. Then it's onto a game app.

Actually it is VMB. It's the fastest thing to load on my old computer here! And it's good to start the day with a chuckle or two.

Then, it's The Weather Channel to see how many layers I need to wear that day, WI lottery, MN lottery, ESPN...

Finally I check the day's absentee list from work so I can determine who's parking space I get to swipe for the day!

I usually check email first. I want to see any advance warning of if I will get hammered when I get in.

My second stop is a few local systems I keep open in tabs.

My third stop is a whole bunch of daily-or-more sites which I also keep open in tabs. Yes, VMB is one of them and has been for some time.

I'm lucky that I can "remote in" to my home computer from work and do things like VMB in my spare time. Another reason to make friends with your local systems geeks. They know everyone does personal web surfing from work and they would much rather have us do that remotely from our own machines rather than using the office computers directly. (Yes, yes, yes, I know! ... And may he/she who has never done personal web surfing from work cast the first stone!) :)

Email, then investments and finally VMB. On vacation, none of the above. I do call the home answering machine every morning to see if there are any problems with the doggie at the kennel.

That's one thing that's a problem doing a business trip to Las Vegas (or anywhere west). Undoubtedly every day will see at least one "The Sky Is Falling" (tm) email or (worse) phone call very early in the morning. The advantage is that things ease off sharply about 2:00 in the afternoon. :)

I'm on West Coast and inevitably I get a text or a "The Sky is Falling" phone call, but yah I can see that as a prob for East Coasters. My "the Sky is Falling" can USUALLY wait until I get back, but if it's Bossman calling and someone needs a statement or a copy of an invoice...It's imperative to have it NOW...I have to guide him through my accounting program.

You're 100% correct... the trade-off for gettin' at it early is that no one bugs me after 2 p.m.!!!

While the kids are eating breakfast and getting ready I check:
    - Paypal to see how much $$$ I made while I slept
    - Facebook
    - GLP which is a conspiracy website they are on top of breaking news so I check there to see if the end of the world as we know it is here.
    - VMb if I don't have a trip planned I sometimes skip this but since we go 2-4 times a year we almost always have a trip planned

When the kids leave it's to my desktop to check emails and get a plan for work needing to be done that day.

Since I'm a manager in the application development department of a brokerage, the first thing I look at when I get up is my work phone to see if all the systems our team supports are up on time (that's usually about 6:45 AM). The first website I usually go to when I get to work is either Yahoo Finance or CNBC to see what's ahead for the markets that day. On the weekends I don't need to check the status of work until later as the markets are closed, so I sleep in on Saturday and we get up for church on Sunday. Both days the first thing I look at varies (maybe NY Times, maybe the Minneapolis Star Tribune, who knows? - depends on what I feel like.) I'm retiring at the end of 2017, and I think when that happens I'll just get up in time for "Squawk on the Street" on CNBC and watch that while having breakfast. Both Connie and I are kind of financial geeks (stock market) so we enjoy CNBC.
