U see it ken2v. We all get COL, but let me see the Vegas books. The casino wins big with gamblers, self included I own it. I just think they are like a foreign country that laughs and calls us stupid.

OK. Let me make sure I get this: Casinos make money off gamblers. Costs associated with a Vegas getaway go up and up and up. People grouse and still show up.

Not sure what the foreign bit has to do with anything but, well, what is stupid?

I recall when Slots-A-Fun, was like FUN! low roller joint, low ceilings, smoky, $1 or $3 BJ, a craps table right at the entrance, nearly on the sidewalk. oh how I loved that craps table. the drunken tourists would provide much entertainment. it always was kind of hot and stuffy in there. they played good overhead music. always a fun crowd. you could leave there and wander in and out of the Ho, the Stardust, and the Frontier. and it would not take forever like it does at the megaresorts. I understand that those kinds of things can't last forever. aaah yes, yesterday when I was young. what does bother me, is that when these things go away it usually in the name of "progress" but it seems it never is. progress is resort fees and parking fees and u name it fees. get out the crying towel. now, having said that, I went 4 times this year. I am still finding something in it that i like as well as some value, mostly staying downtown.

Breeze, I always love when your dry humor comes out, but you have an extra bevy of gems in this one!

The visual of licking the pong ball (really? How did you even envision this?), "hogs n heifers" (definitely gonna have to look that up), the moron pecking order, and the coup de gras, "Moronettes"! I was grinning from ear-to-ear.

Not only did you coin a great term, the visual of comparing them to a flock of birds was priceless, and spot on. On that note, bird watchers are ornithologists, if one is a studier of morons, would that make them a "moronthologist?"

This cracked me up, thank you Breeze! Next time I get annoyed with a gaggle of velociraptor-esque girls hogging the whole walkway while texting, your phrase will warm my heart. ("Velociraptor walk": when girls wear their heels too high, and thus walk hunched slightly over with knees bent, resembling the dinosaur on Jurassic P.)

And GM doesn't? Hilton Hotels? The local farmer? Coca-Cola? What is wrong with a commercial Enterprise trying to get as much as it can?

IMO when a corp. has gambling as their lure, which always goes to the house. Once again I own my gambling. They should give us a throw. They do not need to keep beating us up$

QUIT GOING TO VEGAS. If they are beating you up, if you are not getting what you need, it is not Vegas' fault.

Is a Ford F-150 REALLY worth the staggeringly asinine price on the window?

I remember when gas cost less than a dollar a gallon. I'm going to stop driving, I'll show those greedy gas companies.

The Strip is always fun and will continue to be unique. It must have been fun when Joan Crawford and Liberace opened the Riviera in the decade of the 50s, it will be fun when they open the next Strip casino. I go less now to Vegas than I used to, mainly bored about airports. Gambling conditions have deteriorated. I remember when 6/5 BJ did not exist on the Strip, and when the Strip had full pay Jacks, full pay Deuces and full pay DB VP. Today you can gamble closer to where you are in the country, with comparable gambling conditions you have on the Strip, so many people do not bother going to Las Vegas. I hope to go, if not before, in 2018 when they open Eataly in whatever they will call then the Monte Carlo, to check it out and see if it is better than the one at World Trade Center in NY. :goofy:

    ROFL! :)

    It's sure to happen!

20 years ago people on line were calling places like Sahara, Riviera, and Stardust "dumps" and now the same folks are waxing nostalgic over them! :)

Something occurs to me - if the casino corporations are squeezing their customers this hard to bolster their bottom line, can you even imagine what they are doing to their employees? I work for a very large corporation and I am frequently peeved by what I perceive to be the company making numbers on our (the employees') backs through all manner of things (phasing out the pension plan, reducing benefits, changing the vacation policies and, currently, shipping TONS of jobs out of the country). I would bet a handpay this is happening pretty big time in the corporate casino world too.

It would be very interesting to hear from some long time Vegas casino employees.

I'm on the lower rung of the Vegas spending ladder, and while I don't like the resort fees (even being Diamond now), I don't feel ripped off. I'm used to some kind of fee in AC, even if it has increased. Parking? I don't drive in Vegas, and don't really ever plan to, but I get the frustration. Again, used to paying at some point in AC.

That's where being somewhat cost conscious or, better stated, aware, essentially negates many fees. No problem spending what I like gambling and eating at swanky joints, but I'll be darned if I'm paying full price at a buffet or casual restaurant or show/attraction, or paying the first price I see for the flight. Groupon, Goldstar, myVegas, and the like should be standard tools IF resort fees and the like bother you. The average savings there can cover the ridiculous expenses you incur in 2016. Not to mention the number of virtually affordable ways (relative to gambling dollars spent) to get elevated tier status at casinos, effectively eliminating those expenses from the door.

Two years from now I want someone who actually stopped going due to resort fees and parking to revive this thread and tell us how they've stuck to that decision.

No, but my point is if the fees are really a deal breaker, then they can cut elsewhere. I'm bobo level, but those fees for a trip are less than the first buy-in at the local last night.
