. . . who went to Vegas with you and you had an absolute great time!

. . . who went to Vegas with you and you had to ditch/tell off/compromise with horribly.

    Me?

My Mom is always a great traveler and when I take her to Vegas every now and then, we have a great time!

This guy I was seeing always begged to go with me. I said okay and it was THE worst time I had in Vegas. That is for the first day. I had to tell him to go and explore on his own because he was like an albatross. He never wanted to walk, he balked at the restaurant food prices. I remember we were walking through Caesars. He put a $5 bill in a slot, lost it and claimed he was through. I laughed. Then he sat next to me and kept askin, "how much was that you lost, how long are you going to play this machine", etc. I wanted to punch him in the throat. Never again.

My wife...she's always a happy person, but when in Vegas she's a blast.

My best friend and his wife. Just not in sync...not the right show, the right restaurant, the right gaming. Wasn't terrible, but led me to understand that it's better with just the two of us.

My wife...she is pretty serious most of the time but when we get to vegas she really relaxes a lot and has a good time. Downside on that she usually crashes early.
    (
Not the best.... employee and friend of ours. She was in a wheelchair (because surgery went bad and destroyed most of the nerves in her leg) and figured everyone should clear out of her way because of it, even while waiting to cross at an intersection. "Wheel chair move aside." got to be annoying. Dont get me wrong I move aside when I can for people in wheelchairs, but its Vegas and not a lot of room on the strip.Plus when we wanted to do something and she wanted to stay at the hotel she would get mad at us when we left. She was not the Vegas personality. But would give anything to go with her one more time she passed away two years ago this coming February,

A friend of mine from college - we were doing a road trip driving from Alaska all the way to Las Vegas. In Las Vegas we watched some shows, had a great dinner, we were riding some roller coasters.....we had a great time.

My wife - she didn't like gambling and didn't want to spend any money on food, hotel, or attractions. She was only happy when we went shopping...with my money of course.

My Wife. She's a great travel companion and I love going to Vegas with her.

My Wife's sister and husband. Actually just the husband. I do tolerate it because my Wife loves going to Vegas with her sister and I love my Wife.

Everyone I've gone with has had their moments for best AND worst.

I'm a pretty easy going person, but there are some things that drive me nuts in Vegas especially.

#1 - I'm not carrying anyone elses crap.
That includes your camera, Your glasses, sunglasses, tickets, money, BATTERY PACKS, Charging cords, coupon books or aspirin, lip balm or your phone.
    I now carry my phone/wallet. That's it. I'm on vacation...not camping.

#2 - Take your own damn pictures.
If you want a picture of something....YOU carry your own damn camera, cords, chargers, memory cards & snap away!
The passive-aggresive comments of "Oh THAT would make a great picture...you should take a photo of that!."
Or...my all time favorite...but your camera is so much better than mine. (Said the person whom I BOUGHT a camera for just before the trip)
I want to LIVE in the moment rather than DOCUMENT it.

    #3 - Voice your opinion.
I'm not a mind reader, so don't get mad at me that I don't magically know what you want.
And then the moment is past and it's too late.

    Oh I love this.
My group of friends! We go together, play together, play separate, I go to sleep early they stay up late, we drink, we do not drink, we laugh, we have a blast!

My husband - wanting to know how much I spent, how much I lost, when are we going to eat.....
I am going again this summer by myself though!

My daughter and I went last Christmas, she is very serious and I thought she enjoyed herself. She told me the other day that she did not like Vegas and did not want to go with me again! Who knew?

My wife is my ideal partner: we both say "NO" to timeshare hawkers at the same time without practicing it. if we fall asleep early, we're both up at 6:00 am without any discussion or even setting an alarm. 4 hours sleep? not a problem. We're hungry but don't want to waste time in a restaurant? McD's not a problem for now!

On the other hand: I have that friend that hates gambling but comes to Vegas with the group sometimes just to be with friends. He doesn't gamble and rarely drinks and always says "it's cool, I'll just hang out and people watch". First day is usually fine but by the end of the second day he's reading the "problem gambling" pamphlets and leaving them in the tray of the slot we're playing. I've known him for almost 30 year now and he's very proud to announce he knows exactly how much he's lost in Vegas his whole life: $80. Now we just don't tell him when something is planned :wink2:

Worst was about 15 - 20 years ago. I had a friend I went with. He had a daily budget of $50. I would go play on the craps table and an hour or two later he would side up next to me because he lost his daily allotment. Then he would follow me everywhere I went because he didn't want to gamble and didn't have anything else to do so he just watched me play and followed me all around. Never again.

Another time I went up for a bowling tournament. We had a gang of about 16 people. It was such a pain because they wanted to do everything together. Meet up for dinner and we had to wait for everyone. They wanted to go to the strip (we were staying downtown) so we all had to meet at a certain time and then had to wait for everyone to go back downtown. What a pain. Nowadays when I go up for a bowling tournament I just make my own hotel and trip (car rental, etc.) reservations and tell them that I will meet them at the alley and the rest of the time we are all on our own.

I have never gone to vegas with a neophyte. Never had a bad time and I guess that is because if anyone goes they are "interviewed" as to acceptable food / entertainment prices and since they've all been friends I was fairly familiar with the spending ceiling / drinking habits.
I have had a few back out or lose interest due to costs or flights. But they love to hear the details upon returning.

Myself. I have never fully enjoyed the company of anybody while in Vegas. I'll put up with my husband...because, well, husband. But, past that, being in Vegas with anyone else is compromise and compromise makes the trip 'less'.

My wife Enjoy going with my best friend and his wife. They feel the same as we do that is dont have to be joined at the hip every waking moment. They are free to do what they want whenever and vice versa. We make plans for dinners and shows that are mutually agreed upon and then go gamble. If we want to go to bed early one night fine same with them. Also my friend and I get up early say 5:00 am so whoever gets up first will text and say they will be downstairs meet you there. Really a stress free vacation been doing it for awhile now

Oh easily, my favorite is my Buffoons. They are such a fun group and I always get into some kind of shenanigans that will keep me smiling for months and years to come.

My least favorite is my husband. :( He isn't a fan of the casino gaming, bores easily and always wants me to be his tour guide when I want to be grinding away and drinking my body-weight in rum at the bar top VP.

My mom just started asking me to take her to Vegas, a city she constantly proclaims to despise, since spending her honeymoon there 53 years ago. There is a good chance she may bump out my husband as my least favorite person to go to Vegas with. If she can convince me to take her with me on one trip. :wink2:

I eat at both regularly in Vegas, honestly (less so Subway, but I have McD's for breakfast most mornings). I can eat at home. When I'm in Vegas, I want obtaining food to take as little time as possible. I WILL normally have a nice, sit down dinner or two, though, at non-chain places for something that I could not get at home.

Best: my buddy from law school. We have pretty similar Vegas habits, but when our styles/wants conflict, we go our own ways. Neither of us has a probably being on our own for significant stretches. We know we'll be back together at night to tally up our winning (or not) sports bet tickets, have dinner and a engage in a marathon Bellagio pai gow session.

Worst: my immediate family. They all "love" Vegas, but they bore me to tears there. My brother will make a 30 minute walk to save a dollar on a soft drink. My mother will say things like "Good thing we 're taking this long walk, it is keeping us from losing money at the tables!" Maybe true, but still a downer. My dad....well, I can't really say anything bad about dad in Vegas. He'll drink and smoke and sit at machines all night (or a table with me if I want). But mom and brother are a package deal with him, so I guess that's what makes him a bad travel companion. :)

Only been to Vegas with my wife.
We talked about going with other people, but don't want to risk not having a good time.

Best - and only companion to Lost Wages would be the wife of thirty-years, Cindy.
We have some exceptionally strict laws regarding inclusion of others on our vacation time.
Actually, it's only one law. It reads "Never, under any circumstances."

Been to Vegas many times with friends and family. Can honestly say I've never had a bad experience with any of them. However, they do know that I like to play a lot of VP so if they're doing something I'm not in to, I "disappear." Since my family likes to do a lot of shopping, I often feel like I'm on a solo trip for a vast majority of the trip.

Like the saying "you don't know someone until you've lived with them", the corollary is "you don't know someone till you've traveled together". This is even more important in a Vegas trip because you have to factor in gambling and that involves personal spending habits which can vary greatly.

We are close to my wife's sister and her husband, have done family vacations and traveled to Atlantic City and Vegas together. We were not joined at the hip the whole time and we had a fun trip. Vacation time is too precious to risk with the unknown, so choose wisely. So we are lucky to be in synch with the in-laws and would choose them without a second thought. As for other siblings........no way.
