Does anyone know if hotels with let you use a box fan to help you sleep? I need some sort of white noise to sleep and I normally bring a small fan but do you think if I call and ask they will let me use one?

Weird question I know but I wanted to get everyones opinion

I don't see why not either, but my guess is they wouldn't have the kind of fan you're talking about, but would have those industrial-type carpet drying things. Give 'em a call and ask, I KNOW it's not anywhere near the strangest request they've heard. I too prefer the noise and air-movement they provide.

A white noise generator is smaller to carry with you.

This issue is discussed here usually 2-3 times a year. Many people use fans in hotel rooms with no problems from the hotel at all. I travel with a small one that I actually bought at Walgreens in Vegas one trip. It puts out enough noise that is close to a box fan, but small enough to pack for a trip. I've checked with Vegas hotels in the past and they don't have any to lend to their guests. I just keep it plugged in the whole time and have never heard of any complaint.

I too travel with a small one, plug it right near the bed and always sleep like a baby!

yeah i normally take one with me but my small one broke. I like the idea of just picking up a small one when I get there.

There's a little sound machine I bought from Amazon that duplicates many varieties of fans. It's loud and does the trick.

If you have a smart phone, you can download a free white noise app.

White noise all night while you are charging your phone.

One thing I do is travel with an extension cord so the phone can sit on the night stand.

We've used a Brookstone sound machine for at least 10 years, to counter-act snoring. Does a great job. Many different sounds.

I was told CET does allow hotel guests to bring box fans, but they must keep them on the medium setting only.

If the fan is in your suitcase, how would the hotel even know you have it. Not that I can imagine anyone having a problem with it anyways,

Yes, there are many apps for your phone that replicate sound machines. Way easier to deal with.

I guess I worded the question wrong. I know they will let me use one. I was wondering if they have one I can use instead of bringing mine.

Negative...although, plenty of stores in vegas to buy one for a mere $20.

I keep a "kit" in my semi-permanently-packed travel bag with things like a long light extension cord, multiple power adapters, a dual USB type charger, and a few USB cables. One of my pet peeves is when a hotel does not have convenient electrical outlets! (Or worse, where the convenient outlets do not work, or my charger will not fit in the one on the lamp, or the hair dryer does not work ... or ... or ...)

I have a white noise machine I travel with. It's about 5" square and less than 1" thick. Slips into that little pocket in the back of my suitcase. Works like a charm for drowning out most hotel noises.

I bought a little box fan at Walgreens by my mom's house as the old people like to keep their house an oven and I'm a woman of a certain age. ;) I saw the same fan at the Walgreens or CVS across from TI for $20.

I've never heard of a casino bringing a fan up to your room, but it might be worth a call to see if housekeeping had one available that the would bring to your room.
