Okay we are 12 days out from a nice relaxing week. We are booked at The D, we love downtown and normally stay at GN but for the price The D worked the best for us.

My question is has anyone recently stayed there? Are there any tips or tricks we should know about the property?

Thanks in advance for any and all advice!

Yes I have checked older threads and they are closed for comment and old.

I have stayed there many times and find the renovated rooms nice (big walk in shower, redone sink area).
The rooms can be noisy (there is a stage located directly under the wing facing the 4Q). I try and get a room on the El Cortez side as high as possible and still can occasionally hear/feel the bass!
The AC is noisy....a wall unit. No coffee pot.
I have always had good service and short check in lines. They are good about letting you check in early. The elevators are all computerized....you need to put your floor number in a keypad and then it tells you which elevator to get on (A,B,C or D).
The cafe/grille does not open until 8 a.m, which I don't care for.....I am usually an early riser and would eat at 7. McD's is 24/7 so that is a good alternative.
Hope you have a great time! The casino area by check in is a little quieter than the main one, and the CW are usually around frequently.

For a quieter room, ask for an east-facing room. (Odd numbered)

I like the corner king rooms, which are a bit larger with a sleeper sofa and a curved window. Regular corner kings are floors 16 and lower, premium are higher floors.

I was there last week and parking was valet only due to construction.

The elevators are new and a bit odd. You type in your floor and the screen tells you which elevator to take. There are no buttons in the elevator. It works pretty well.

The best video poker is the bank of 6 machines with a progressive royal on the second floor. Nothing very good, but there is 8/5 Bonus Poker on these six machines nearest the Vue Bar. Bartop video poker is horrendous.

The D Grill is a decent coffee shop. You should get a $5 coupon on check-in.

Take the elevator to the second floor when you leave your room and you will get off at the upstairs casino and restaurant. It's easier than going to the main casino, then up the escalator. Downstairs is quite noisy, but upstairs is fairly quiet. Play the sigma Derby horse game upstairs. It's a riot and cocktail service is great.

Stayed there in July, and loved the place. Had booked a standard room, but upgraded to a Premium Corner King for $10 a night.

As mentioned, the bathrooms are all recently refurbished, and have walk-in showers, and new wash areas. Room also had a small fridge, which had enough space to keep a few bottles of water, and soft drinks etc.

Will be staying there again next summer, instead of my old home @ the GN.

I have stayed there twice this year and have enjoyed it both times. The rooms are nice and although I was on stage side it didn't bother me as I'm never in my room before 2am. Good eating options as well especially if you like fast food.

I stayed there in May of this year. We pretty much always stay on the strip but wanted to do one night downtown. We had a premium corner King facing away from Fremont St. I was very pleasantly surprised by the room, it was clean, spacious and comfortable. Absolutely no complaints. The staff was friendly and I liked the upstairs casino area which includes a balcony overlooking Fremont St. My one and only complaint is that I found the casino very, very smoky. I suppose the smaller space and lower ceilings make the smoke thicker and more bothersome to me. Aside from that, I enjoyed our stay there.

I am staying at the D as i write this. I have 2 queen beds. Heres some pics to expect from a room at the D. The noise is a issue at night but if you put the Constant mode on the fan/AC unit and leave the fan on high too. The noise gets canceled. I am here for another 4 more days. Anymore questions, just ask.

BTW: The parking Garage is closed for repairs as they install brand new elevators. Valet is available or park at the Fremont Street Garage across from Valet and have the Front desk Validate the Ticket for Free in & out access. Ive been parking Valet since day 1 (Saturday)

I never notice the noise due to the air conditioner. I really like the atmosphere there and the rooms are not bad.

I've stayed at the 4Q once about 5 years ago. Ever since then, I've been at TheD. They have nice clean rooms. I've never been bothered by the AC noise. They look like they're newer units, so they're a bit quieter. One time I did get a really low floor. Like 6 I think. The noise from the stage was a bit loud, but not like I was right next to it. Most of the time, you can hear it, but it's not bad.
Rooms have always been clean. And, I ask for a fridge to keep my drinks in. I've only been in the normal corner king rooms so far.

The main casino isn't loud during the day. But, about the time the dancers come on, they bump it up. 6ish I think? Yes, it stinks that their cafe opens at 8am, but you can charge your meals at DuPairs to your room at TheD, and they're 24/7. And, only about 5 min away. Get the pancakes. :) But, they still don't have a unified players card yet. :( Come on man. Maybe they're waiting until the remodel LVC?

I've never had to wait in a line checking in, but I normally got there about 2pm, so it wasn't a prime time.
The elevators have gotten better over time. They normally have someone there to help you out during the day. The floors that an elevator are going to are on the side of the door. Just to double check you're in the right one when drunk. ;)

Before you check out, run by the hosts office, and check in with them. It's right beside the check-in counter on the way out the back on the right.

I really like TheD. They've always treated me well. I'm sure you'll have a blast.

We stayed there in Feb 2015 and one day we had to wait until late morning for hot water in the shower. Also then they were still building new elevators, so the existing ones were slow, but that's changed now from what I understand

Yes, Andiamo's is the BOMB! I ate there 8 times in 2014 when the D was my LV "home".

Me and my Vegas buddy plan to say at the D in February. Steak house sounds great...what kind of pricing are we talking about here?

The steak house there is the best around I think. They're "normal" steakhouse prices. So, cheaper than strip places, and much better in my option. I've always had really good service, and food there. I keep telling myself I'm going to try some of their pasta dish's, but I just can't stop getting the steak. :) Their menu online has the prices if I remember right. I'm planning on eating there again for my b-day dinner.

The D is the only casino in Las Vegas where I've seen them card people at the door. At least they did one Saturday when I was there. They had a suit type security guy at the main door and he was stopping anyone who looked to be teens to mid 20s. Some people were just blowing by him and they also had this bigger and meaner looking security guy just inside who would stop them.

Not too bad for a Vegas steakhouse, which means expensive. It's an Italian steakhouse, so in addition to standard grilled steaks there are other options. See the menu here: http://www.thed.com/dining/andiamo-steakhouse/

Last time I was there I had the osso bucco, which was pretty great. My friend had a strip steak, which was done perfectly. Great service. Portions tend to be huge.

(Just now seeing Full Boat's post above -- good to have my own impressions confirmed! I don't think I have ever heard a negative thing about Andiamo's)
