Doesn't seem like 14 months is all that long ago but I'm reading that smoking rooms are becoming a thing of the past. Strip or downtown, best chances to get a smoking room in January. ?
Im pretty sure all the CET hotels still have smoking rooms (floor) but there's less of them for sure MGM group are cutting back on smoking rooms for sure
I'm a smoker myself and actually prefers non smoking room;wife doesn't smoke but that's besides the point. We had a smoking room at Paris and man oh man I felt smoke all over in bed, couche chairs bathroom .... I haven't had smoking room for long time now...besides makes me smoke less lol. But good luck finding one ... I know they still have smoking rooms;they are cutting back for sure.
The only time I recall having a problem getting a smoking room was if we checked in later in the evening. We've stayed on the strip (Harrah's, Encore, MGM, NYNY among others) with no problem. Staying downtown, we never had a problem with 4Q, Plaza or MSS. We weren't able to get a smoking room one time at The D but we arrived around 8 in the evening. They did offer to switch our room the next day though but I don't think we bothered. The El Cortez is the only casino downtown that I know of that is non smoking in all rooms. But it's easy enough to get downstairs so it wasn't a big problem.
At MGM, all properties are "officially" totally non-smoking although I believe Bellagio and Mandalay Bay each still have one smoking floor, but you can't reserve a smoking room online. At CET, at Caesars Palace, the only smoking floor left is in the Augustus Tower. At most of the other properties (I haven't looked at all of them), they still have at least one smoking floor, you can book smoking rooms online. Cosmo, no smoking in the rooms, but the terraces are still smoking-friendly. Downtown, no idea.
One floor in the at The Venetian, none of the MGM properties have smoking anymore. We have a Bally's smoking room in January. This is based off my last 4 trips
