Looking for Red Rock Resort advice

We're a long time strip crowd. Usually at the Cosmo with a wrap around suite. Just love the place, but the offers have dried up in spite of my continued losing streak there. Took a ride out to RRR and we loved it. Seems we're getting nice offers (3 free nights, standard rooms).

Questions: Is there enough on property to keep us interested for 2+ days? We are DDBJ freaks, so that will take some time. VP options seem plentiful. Seems like just enough decent food options too.

But what about the hotel rooms? We like suites. Any nice ones to recommend? we want vavation to relax and chill...a nice room goes a long way for us. Should we ask for strip view? Mountain?

WE'll be out in mid Jan...any advice is most welcome.

Nice selection of dining options on site and if you're going to have a car there are lots of good shopping and restaurants close by.

Suncoast and Rampart are close for a change of gambling scenery.

RR is my home base. Every time I stray to another property, I'm just disappointed.

There is plenty to keep you busy for 2-3 days at Red Rock. Be sure to try the spa, even if only to use the steam/sauna. Entry has always been included in the resort fee, but I read somewhere that was changing. Regardless, the spa is worth a visit.

I haven't stayed in a suite. I'm comped for the standard rooms, which are more than adequate - definitely nice. I'd recommend a view of the canyon if you can get it. It's very impressive to wake up to. The Strip is so far away, it's not much of a view.

 

You can walk to downtown Summerlin. it's right next to red rocks. Lots of shopping and restaurants there.

 

Red Rock (no s) is also our home away from home. We've been going there since they opened and love it. Our biggest gripe is that tier status renews every six months rather than a year like most other places. There are a few benefits to achieving president status but it's hard to do when you're not a local. We have NEVER been upgraded to a suite but they may offer one for a price. Comps are tight there and the most we ever get is three nights and a small amount of FP and resort credit but maybe if you're a High Roller they might be more generous. In spite of our misgivings we love to stay there because the rooms are beautiful (and large), food options are good and Downtown Summerlin is within walking distance (good if you need a break from gambling). In season, the pool complex is beautiful and, now that they no longer allow locals admission unless they're staying there, it's not as much overrun by kids as it used to be.
We also prefer the canyon view.

As far as gambling, they have just about anything you want to play including full-pay VP. Although I never have any luck there, my husband does.

 

NandJ, could you describe how you walk from RR to downtown Summerlin, the exit you take, the route you take, and how long it takes? Thanks.

The exit just past the food court (on the left) is the closest but anything on that side of the building would probably work. I go out that door to the curb and continue across the parking lot to the mall (or sometimes I walk on the sidewalk depending on where I'm going). You can see the mall from that exit so just head straight for it. Although I never timed it, I would say it takes 15 minutes. I wouldn't do it in the summer though.

 

Exit the door next to panda express.

Lots of outdoor eating places there . and a strange attractive drunk woman kissed me when my wife wasn't looking. vegas!

 

ask for a mountain view room........i have stayed there probably over 30 times since it was open.........

 

Red Rock is our favorite casino in Las Vegas. The standard rooms are excellent. We did get an offer once for 3 free nights in a suite. Great! We were planning on driving to Death Valley while there - after we checked in I asked Connie if she wanted to drive out the next day - she said No! (emphatically). She loved the suite. One other time we were asked at the desk if we wanted to upgrade for $50 a night - that was a no-brainer. But the regular rooms are great. Plenty of eating options, a movie theater, bowling alley, bingo. Connie usually goes to a movie or two while I'm playing VP. Great sports book as well.
Highly recommended.

 

Little to add other than to agree it's a lovely casino and great rooms. Just be careful with the beds. the frame sticks out and I stubbed my toes numerous time. Great food options.

Red Rock resort is beautiful and the dealers and crowd are friendly. We just can't bring ourselves to stay off strip. Maybe after a bunch more trips and we feel like we aren't Vegas-deprived, we will calm down enough. We have toyed with idea of staying for a few nights and then moving to a strip location.

I can't say enough good things about RRR. And fyi there is a free shuttle to the strip if you get the urge.
