Fallsview treats me right

My wife and I drove from Erie to Niagara Falls on Wednesday, November 16th.
The ride was pleasant due to the amazing weather. We were "comped" a room at the Hilton with no annoying
resort fees. The hotel is connected to the parking ramp of the casino, so you do not have top go outside to get to the casino or hotel. We were also given a voucher for two free buffets at Fallsview. We were given a corner room with a jetted tub.
We get offers for tickets to shows at the casino. We got two tickets for a Michael Jackson tribute show in February.
I hope that the weather cooperates. Winter weather around Erie and Buffalo can turn brutal.

Gambling
I exchanged a $100 American bill for 130 Canadian Dollars. We gambled for about 5 hours on Wednesday night. The casino is laid out well with a nice variety of slot machines. We had about three 100 dollar hits that made the money last.
Thursday morning we checked out and made the five minute drive to Casino Niagara. No luck there at all.
We crossed the border back into the U.S. in about two minutes. We gambled at Seneca Niagara for a couple of hours. I had $10 in free play. I won $100 on Whales of Cash, a great older machine.

Drive home
We stopped in Irving, New York for lunch. We like Aunt Millie's or Tom's. A busload of people were standing
outside of Millie's , therefore Tom's was our choice.

Back in Erie
I gave the lawn a final shave today. I wore shorts and a T shirt. Snow is coming on Saturday night.

 

Pretty nice. Do you have history there to be given comps like that on the spot?

Unfortunately Fallsview and all the casinos around there has absolutely terrible VP paytables and BJ games... Even though it's close to where I live, instead of losing money at Fallsview, I'd much rather save up money and fly to Vegas instead!

It always seems like the casinos in Ontario and NY (at least the state run Racinos in NY) have something messed up with VP.

The ones in NY for example, are on some type of lotto system, where you're results are effectively predetermined regardless of what decisions you make with your cards.

For example, if you get dealt three of a kind and then discard them? No worries, you get another three matching cards right back.

I wouldn't be surprised if Fallsview doesn't do something similar. Although as a (mostly) former smoker I never spent much time there after it opened in the 90's.

 

Edit: when I mentioned "opening in the '90's" it dawned on me I was referring got Casino Niagara, not Fallsview. But I think they are both run by the province.

 

Thanks for the TR. I have stopped here a few times on my way back from Toronto, the buffet is pretty good and if you're lucky you can get a table with a view of the falls. With the exchange rate it's a great deal. I played $.05 Super Times Pay VP and didn't hit too many bonus rounds and my hundy went pretty fast. There is a Comfort Inn across the street that is actually pretty decent and has free parking for guests.

 

VP tables are pretty bad there.. hence why i never discovered the game until I went to Vegas LOL. BJ on the mainfloor most of the tables are automatic shuffler, you have to go to into their HL room to get manual shuffles.

The state-run racinos in NY, yes, their VP is not what I like to call "Vegas Style". They are not legally authorized to offer it. Technically it's a virtual scratchoff ticket and your result is predetermined. The payback of those games are close to the slot machines even though they will have deceivingly high paytables. But paytables are worthless when probabilities don't conform to a standard poker deck.

Ironically though, tribal casinos that have a Class III gaming compact with New York, like Seneca Niagara does, can offer "Vegas Style" VP. They also can offer Class II Slots and Video Poker, which is also predetermined, but it's technically electronic bingo instead. But generally, those with Class III compacts offer "Vegas Style" VP.

As for Ontario, regulations mandate it's "Vegas Style" per Section 21.3.5 (page 61 of PDF below) of Ontario's Electronic Gaming Equipment Minimum Technical Standards.

Tringlomane - great info -we go to Seneca and like to play VP - how do you know the difference between CLASS of VP by looking at the machine?

 

Usually class II bingo machines will actually have a display of a bingo card somewhere on the machine. Usually where you expect the display for the players club card. But if the paytable is not the greatest, you can almost be assured it's "Vegas Style".

Also you could play a few hands for 1-5 coins (1 coin helps save money on the move below). The first time you get dealt a high pair, throw one of the pair cards away, hold the other 4 cards, and see if you lose. If it's class II bingo, you won't lose. The cards literally just display the bingo win.

 

Until 9 years ago I used to live about 20 minutes from Aunt Millies. When I was back there this summer to see my sons we went there for lunch. There desserts are amazing!

 

I had a Napoleon at Aunt Millie's this summer. Amazing dessert! The soups and the portions for the entrees are quite large.

 

We scored some tickets to Chris Rock who is doing two shows in February at the Avalon - will be great to see him in a smallish venue

 

My SO got an invite to the Christmas dinner celebration at Fallsview last weekend. They put on a great spread for their favourite customers (my SO, definitely not me). Mid dinner entertainment was Rachel Platten (fight song) and desert entertainment was John Mellancamp! I have seen John a bunch of times and quite frankly he was a bit disappointing the last couple but this past night, he was great. Nice to be only a few tables from the stage watching the performance too! It was a fun night and I have no idea what it cost my wife in casino donations this past year. Part of me would like to go again next year but, part of me is scared if she does get an invite
