"Hey, honey !....one holiday at a time !..huh ?"
    *
She reasoned that she works weekends + long shifts -
so, she wanted it put up this past weekend.
    I refused !
She said - she'd do it.
    Absolutely not !
"Hey.....I'm the guy that always puts the thing together +
gets it out of the basement, anyway." ( artificial tree in a box )
**** I did notice that the box had been unsealed****..... hmmm ?

I work weekends and put up some of our Christmas lights the other weekend. Never know what you're going to get in Cleveland. It was 75 on Friday. 29 Saturday and snow. But I didn't turn them on.

I get what she's saying but yeah I'm with you on this.

I stopped putting up Christmas decorations in 2002 when my mother died. There is nothing to celebrate.

I get your point and I agree with you. On the other hand, it is not worth arguing with your wife about insignificant stuff. Pick your battles.

I love Christmas decorations. We have seen some around here...almost like the light/decorations fanatics take down Halloweeen and go right for Christmas.

That being said, we hold off everything until after Thanksgiving....then Dh starts on his outdoor lights, I do the tree and together we put together the decorated greenery baskets for the cemetary.

My husband has some weird rules about all this stuff and I don't care enough to argue with him about it. Christmas doesn't start until the Friday after Thanksgiving. No lights. No tree. No talk of shopping (although I do a little). And equally important is that all the stuff comes down no later than 1/1.

:( Even on the darkest days, if you look hard enough, there is something to celebrate.

Our tree is up. Basically the wife reminded me that I am heading to Vegas without her on 11/29. I immediately asked her where the tree was and that was it. Figured the week of Thanksgiving wasn't too bad, plus we have young kids and they love it. Happy wife, happy life. Off to Vegas in 6 days!!

We put up two. One on the pool deck is already set up and the one in the house goes up Friday. Home Christmas decorations are already up since we host a large party each year.

I was thinking of putting up the fiber optic tree to distract from my lackluster thanksgiving dinner, but I'm going to wait until the table is cleared. Will update!

Um, I think your husband, or mine, is missing a twin Sonya!

Same rules at our house. He's super low maintenance and good natured, except on the idea of putting a tree up before Thanksgiving, or taking it down AFTER 1/1!

Decoration can commence the Friday after Thanksgiving.
Decorations must be dismantled and stored on January 2nd.

When I was much younger I put up trees, stockings, decorations, lights.

Now the kids are adults, they have their own families, they do their own thing, and I don't put up anything anymore.

I'm happy I don't have to do it now. I just bask in the glow of the Holidays.

And I really don't miss putting up all that crap. I did it because for children it is a magical, special, and wonderful time in their lives.

My adult children took over the duties. As it should be. The Circle of Life.

Being a Vegas Fanatic I almost wrote "Circue Du Soleil":evillaugh:

    Came home from work, yesterday.........
"Hi, Honey !.....I got the tree put up !"
    ........ugh ?........
So much for waiting til after Thanksgiving ?
My wife just stuck the tree in the stand .
I'm the guy who walks around it + fills out each branch -
that got pressed / crushed in the box when stored.
I make it look good !............right now - there are too many big gaps between
the branches..............it looks horrible just sitting there.
I can't even look at it !............so, I've gotta get working on it, tomorrow.......
probably with the Macy's Day Parade - on the TV.
My 5 yr old will love it ! .........and The Parade ( he loves Snoopy + Sponge Bob ! )
    MIL's for Thanksgiving dinner around 3 - 4 pm.

Put up 90% of outdoor items two weeks ago factoring in nice weather and a week away but, nothing plugged in.

Retrieved indoor boxes from garage same time. It piled up in corner. We will probably attack everything this weekend.

Up until Jan 7 to respect my 50% Ukrainian heritage!
