Our new Tier structure will start on Janurary 1. We have spent a lot of time making sure the benefits are really good. As soon as we finalize all of the package, I will post on VMB for you guys.

Using the Plaza for home base for the first time 12 hours from now will be interesting to see who's stretching the truth...will be weird not to be @4queens

Thanks Gary! Will you still offer the tier matching after Jan 1st? I'm planning a trip to Vegas sometime Feb/Mar and if you'll still be offering the tier matching I'd definitely like to know how that works. I'm Sapphire at Boyd.

Please stop by the Host office after you get settled in. Would love to meet you!

We will not be tier matching in 2017, but it is still the fastest advancement tier system downtown!

I just booked to stay at the Plaza in January (four nights), we just stayed there in October. The new pool was a hit with my wife and her friends. I heard the pool will be open year round, which is great for my wife. It will be interesting to see the new tier system. I usually play at MSS because it seems like I get more in the way of free food, lol.

I will say it was somewhat lively at the Plaza last weekend compared to my last visit in May.
The perfume scent was STRONG and it hit my sinuses like a hammer at the entrance.
The casino was clean and all the employees I came into contact with were nice.
There were a few newer slots, they also had a small area of vintage coin dropper VP machines of various denoms!

I will try visiting the Plaza again in December. I am one of those that am sensitive to strong scents. I thought it was getting less stinky but insin just reconfirms my original thoughts. I would love another place to stay DT.

both the Plaza and ELCO are heavy on the pumped in fragrance. I cant stay inside of either for very long, it (reeks)havoc on my sinus and allergies instantly. and if they think it masks the smoke, they are dead wrong. the Plaza is the only place I have not stayed at downtown. I would love to give it a try, but I don't get any good offers from them. my play does not generate any good offers I suppose because I am forced to leave when I can not breath. having said that, I don't hate the place. each time I stay downtown, I always visit the place at least twice, trying to like it.

Has it changed again, odor wise? Our last two trips inside there I thought they has really toned down the scent. October it was the loud music that bothered me the most. and that was at 10 AM.

I stayed at the Plaza two months ago on an offer. Gary added two additional nights at casino rate, which I thought was fair. No issues with smell, ElCo is much stronger. Gambling results were uneven; aren't they always? I will second the notion that cocktail service can be spotty. The Plaza remains a strong contender for future trips.

    Hi Gary,

What is the accumulation period? Per year? Is there a different accumulation period for a non-local? (Like for example Boyd is 6-month for locals and 12-month for non-locals)

Without even reading more on this thread I can now definitely say I will not set foot in the Plaza. I have to be very careful on the Strip as some of the hotels pump in scents that trigger massive headaches. (Mirage main lobby for one - ok if I come in thru the Rhumbar door & only go into casino or shows).

Gary V - it would really be a benefit to welcome all players & not leave some forcibly out in the cold because of perfumes being pumped in. If it is just to mask odors/smoke, then perhaps something to clean the air would be a more practical situation.

I thought it was just me!
The scent in the Mirage instantly locks up my sinuses and gives me a burning headache.
Hard Rock Casino was like walking through a cloud of AXE body spray
The one casino I had a hard time with as far as smoke was 4 Queens.
Plaza is so much better than it used to be.

Just wondering how you would get the room discounts? Will you be able to log into your rewards account online?

It's seriously only 25k tier points to reach the highest card level? That's only $75k coin in on video poker. Super low.

We stopped in to see The Scintas in late August and I used my 7 Stars card to match to Ace tier. Played a little before and after the show and received an offer for NYE.

I have NYE offers from Cosmopolitan, Caesars Palace (or any other CET property), Tropicana, Red Rock, GVR, Rampart, Westgate, and Four Queens, but we decided to give The Plaza a try.

I'm a little worried because people have been telling me the bathrooms are super small and we're not tiny people. Hubby is also a huge room snob. My offer is supposed to be for a suite, but I was told when I booked it that suites will be given out by ADT, so I likely won't get one. I've only played there the one time and only did $11k coin in on VP, so I'm sure my ADT is pretty low.

Anyone care to reassure me or tell me I'm making a bad move?

I have never stayed at the Plaza. I would be concerned with your choice for my first stay at one of the busiest times of year. Especially with the options you have for that time period. Good luck and be sure to give us an update on your stay. I love downtown.

I stayed in October had a good stay. Business has improved considerably. Only problems when I went to the club after play was told they don't comp on pts. but on losses? They gave me a voucher $60 for food I had to make a quick decision, where to use it. But it worked out fine. Its just the change? I don't see how that works in the system?

Thanks. We don't normally go for NYE, have maybe gone three times in the past 12 years and have always stayed away from the strip. Have never stayed downtown for NYE, either. It might not be the best thing to do, and I'm hoping we don't regret it!
