Anyone stayed at Westgate recently?

I'm thinking of staying at the westgate and wondered if anyone who's stayed there recently for a quick review

 

Yes, last April while attending a conference. Room was OK, but nothing special. Coffee shop is spendy but otherwise very good. Buffet (limited days) was surprisingly good. Check in was fast.

Big bad thing was that the whole place was PACKED with timeshare salesdroids. They were covering every entrance and choke point and hitting on solo women, not just couples.

Also, for a few days when there were multiple conferences happening at LVCC they went to paid parking. I do not remember the price or details since I did not have a car that trip.

2 nights.
Had connecting jr. suites where hot water worked in one but not the other.
Check in was fast and the sales people left me alone. (Kept head down and made no eye contact with sales people.)
Meh on buffet for me.
Free parking since it was super contest weekend.
Mrs. America contest was being held at hotel same weekend.

 

My niece had a room there last year for a wedding. I checked it out and thought it was very nice. Especially for the rate they paid. Not sure of the room type but there was a connecting room. Both were large.

Couple of comped nights, last week. First stay. Here's my TA review:

This was an introductory 2-day visit. We were looking for another off-Strip property to give more of our business to, a place with better gambling odds and comps than the Strip. Our new host arranged a Signature room on the 10th floor, over-looking the pool areas. Flatscreen TV, small fridge, full-size sofa under the window. Very comfortable king-sized bed. Single lavatory, with adequate space on each side. Showerhead was a little low, but flow was good and water hot. Only issue we had was the TV only got about half the channels on the sheet provided. Maintenance came in twice while we were out, but we still saw no increase in the channels available. This is an isolated issue though. Still, it's quite nice for their basic room.
A good variety of video poker, though we couldn't find any 3-play quarter we liked, which would have greatly increased our rated play. Sportsbook was huge, but not very busy, the Tues/Wed afternoons we played there. That affected the VP drink service initially, but a dollar-a-drink tip brought them around more often. Did not play any table games. 4 stars for the VP. Hope it remains so.
Only ate at Sid's cafe, which was adequate, with fairly large portions. Wanted to try Fresco Italian, but the prices and mixed reviews chased us away. Also wanted to try the buffet, but it wasn't opening until Thanksgiving, the day we left. We really appreciate a breakfast buffet, so I hope they get one in place.
Location is a problem for those on a budget. Paradise(108) bus stops out front, but you'd have to transfer to another route to get back and forth from the Strip. The monorail is rather expensive, on a per-person basis. That leaves taxi and Uber/Lyft, though at check-out, we noticed there was a Westgate van picking up folks, at the back entrance. We will check out it's availability next time.
So, if our new host treats us well, we have found a nice alternative to the Boyd and Stations properties.

 

Now that you mention it, I noticed this too in April. I didn't say anything about it since all/most of the channels I wanted were working and I was only in the room for sleeping, getting ready, changing, and the occasional power nap,

 

Decent rooms. poor buffet. Decent coffee shop. good vp. array of high priced restaurants. Nice pool area. And time share sales peeps everywhere.

 

We were never bothered by the time share folks. Didn't make eye contact. Just walked on past. So easy.

 

Just look down like you lost some money timeshare salesperson wont even stop you.
