    My Trip Report

We recently made a trip to Tunica, MS, to visit Fitzgerald's. Spent a couple days on the road and went to a couple casinos and toured a distillery. Wrote at trip report and published it at A Trip To The Fitz.

    Enjoy.

Cool report. I noticed you did not visit any other casinos in Tunica. We often hit a few when we are there.

Great report. I really enjoy Tunica, too. Glad to hear you had some exciting wins.

Has The Fitz stopped providing free drinks to patrons while gambling? You mentioned drink coupons and I was curious about it.

    Thanks for the responses.

Usually when we're in Tunica, we stay pretty close to the hotel in which we're staying. We've talked about staying over in the cul de sac where we'd have 3 casinos within walking distance but haven't done it.

No, free drinks still abound at the casino. We used one of the free drink coupons just wandering around prior to eating and the other when we went up to the room. Sometimes drink service can be virtually nonexistent back in the video poker alcove. Table games are pretty active with cocktail waitresses. I've always assumed table games players tip better and supervision at the table games is more persuasive when scheduling service.

The VP alcove is so smokey that the waitresses should receive hazard pay for venturing out there. I wonder if that's why they avoid it.

From about 2008 to 2015, the 8 hour drive kept me from Tunica. Although it's not nearly as hopping as it once was and the casinos are showing their age, I still have enjoyed them all in the three trips there I've taken in the last year and a half.

Do you remember the name of the little cafe that The Fitz used to have on the 2nd floor? I believe the buffet took over the space where it used to occupy. That was where we used to get table comps for and we never had a bad meal.

My memory doesn't provide a cafe but the wife thinks I may be wrong and that we at least had breakfast there at one time.

Our trip down there is about 800 miles each way and it has gone from no nights on the road to one night each way to this last trip when it was two nights coming home. Next time - ?????.

I have stayed there a couple of times, several years ago and there was a little cafe between the Steakhouse and the Buffet but I can't remember the name. I ate there several times as well. I am not good with buffets, I eat too much, so we prefer to eat at a coffee shop or cafe.

Edit:*** After searching I found it was called the Shamrock Cafe ***

I have not succeeded in finding the video poker alcove at the Fitz. Where is it? Are the paytables any better there than at the bars?

How was your room in the hotel? Can you describe their pool?

Yeah, that was the place. It was great. I guess my two favorite places to eat now are the 8 oz burger bar at Horseshoe and Twain's at Sam's Town. I also have fond memories of the Atrium Cafe at Gold Strike but haven't eaten there the last few trips.

It's across from the new(ish) snack bar on the 2nd floor. Wear a mask or use a lung brush afterwards, cause it's smokey as hell. Paytables aren't great.
There's also a VP area on the first floor between the player's club and the bar. There you will find a couple of full pay JOB and BP coin droppers.

The upstairs alcove, no. Paytables are just like the bar. But you can play those same paytables for as cheap as nickels though. Best game on those or at the bar is 9/5 DDB (97.87%). Best game on the one (lol) STP machine they have is 8/5 JoB (97.57% w/STP). They also have a 100 play machine that has decent paytables at nickels and dimes. You can bet as little as one line on it for 5 credits a line. Best game there are 7/5 Super Aces (98.85%) and 98.80% Bonus Deuces.

As mentioned before the better games are downstairs with the coin droppers. 9/6 JoB is the best quarter option.

If you hate coin droppers or are a dollar player, then high limit has things like 8/5 Bonus, 9/7/5 DB, and 9/6 DDB. They also have 500/9/6 JoB in high limit (98.88%). This is particularly noteworthy because there is no penalty for short coining on that game. And they play much faster than the coin droppers that ask if you want to double up every time. Ugh.

Here is an old Tunica TR that focuses on Fitz on that Sunday.

As for the hotel/pool. The one time we stayed there, we liked the pool area as it was indoors. The hotel room, meh, could use some updating.
