So my offers are nearly the same. I need two rooms. My MGM offer is two Deluxe Queen Rooms (standard room?) or Planet Hollywood Ultra Hip Queen Room Strip View plus a Hip Room King. The price for both properties is nearly the same. What I don't like are those little cubby hole windows. A strip view would be nice and I'm willing to $20 trick it (although from my previous post I see that the trick does not work for PH properties).

So I guess I'm wondering if I'm looking for too much? Book MGM $20 trick em, ask them that the rooms be close to each other with strip views.

Any insight would be great! Booking rooms can be maddening!!

    Going Sunday Dec. 18- 22

The $20 trick can and does work at PH. It is just dependent on availability. I would personally go with PH. Some of the Ultra Hips face the Bellagio fountains which is better than whatever strip view you'd get at MGM.

Having stayed at both MGM is a nicer property but PH has much better location, and the Ultra Hip room are brand new and pretty nice

LOL you're really sweating this room choice, aren't you...what is this thread #3?

You can't go wrong with either place. PH is closer to center strip and the room is newly reno'd. MGM is basically a small city with tons of amenities and food/bev. You're going to have fun either way. Suppose I'd probably go PH.

MGM is the better property in every way, except for location. To me, its a no brainer

All things being the same I would also go with PH.
Very quick access to other neighboring casinos and CET does give you the flexibility to gamble at other locations.

Ultra Hip room at PH because of the remodel and PH location would be my choice. MGM can get BIG!

PH has a more fun atmosphere, better location, better buffet, nice shopping mall and equivalent rooms. The South strip in my opinion has gone down a lot. Center strip to Encore is prime location at this point. I would choose PH!

And PH does have Strip House and Koi, 2 really good places to eat. Earl of Sandwich and pretty good Mexican at Yolos and the walk to Paris foe eats is a lot short a walk then the next closest to MGM.

That long trek to your room at MGM is going to feel like 3 miles at the end of the day!

I'd go with PH for the location, food, and atmosphere.

I still visit MGM Grand at least once a trip to take in the chaos, though!

I agree. I've moved over to the PH ever since I lost my beloved Stardust. PH is a lot more lively. My neighbor who recently went told me that they removed the black couches overlooking the bar.

Between those two I'd go with PH. I'm not a big fan of MGM. I feel like its too far at one end of the strip and it feels like SO much walking around their property to get anywhere.

Thanks everyone. I've stuck with PH. I'm keeping the focus on my niece, and not myself. The location will allow her and her girlfriend to walk around and they deserve to stay in a place with a young, hip vibe. The pics on Trip Advisor originally gave me cause for concern, but what the heck, I can't control everything!

If you have a Total Rewards account, check the rates for the December dates you plan to stay at Planet Hollywood. I'm showing $0*/night -- even for a "Ultra Hip Premium King Fountain View" room (*$36 resort fee per night). I tried booking 2 rooms, but the second one wasn't free. Darnitall.

Roginator, that's what happened to me. First room free ($144 tax and resort fees) the second room was not free, and it was $400 something. So for right now we are there but there are other places I'm still looking into.

Unless you plan on spending your time at MGM / NYNY corner .... the location of PH would be worth it to me.
