I received an email from a host introducing herself ahead of my upcoming visit to Treasure Island. The host says to email or call her if I need anything. But what? I have no idea what a host can (and can't) do. I usually stay at TI for 4 or 5 days every year. I play quarter VP when I'm sober and low denomination slots when I'm sloshed. I can't imagine what sort of algorithm assigned me a host, but it did, so.... what can a host provide for a low roller?
A host can do pretty much anything they want. A better question would be what do you want the host do for you?
If you consider yourself a low roller, then one of the main benefits of a host can be to get you additional nights comped up front as compared to your marketing offers. So if you're staying at a place where the offers you get are usually for 3 nights, the host can look at your play history and know you're good for 5. So she'll book you for 5 upfront. Upfront is always better than having to try to get nights comped back end.
They can book you into rooms when you don't have an offer. I have a host at a casino where I never get mailers (they're notorious for this) but i have no issue shooting an email and getting 2 or 3 nights. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
To me, other than making the initial booking for a trip and getting up front comps, the true value of a host is his/her ability to give you discretionary comps on the back-end to cover the additional food and bev expenses that are not covered by your comp credits. For example, I can be running low on my comp or resort credits but continue to charge all my meals and purchases at the gift shop to my room; at the end of the trip, I would be responsible for any charges that are over and above what my comp or resort credits can cover, so I would turn to my host (like Craig at URComped or a host on duty) to see if I can get those charges comped on the back end. The better the relationship you have with your host the more he/she will be willing to do for you. YMMV
Often there is not much the host can do. At CET, a host always stops by to see if "I need anything". No idea what that means. I would like a decent glass on wine while plaing. I would like a snack. I would like a.... LOL Back to the OP. Ask for room upgrade, maybe limo from airport, food comps.
To add to rycelover's points, every comp and room placement decision are based on a matrix: this suite is for players with 750+ ADT, this amount of flight reimbursement for players +1000 ADT, etc... What a host can do is create wiggle room in those guidelines to give you a better experience that you would not be able to access otherwise. Plus, once they know you, they can make the booking process extremely convenient and let you book a trip via a quick email or text. -Craig
Ask the person to clarify if they are a host or an executive host. Also ask if they are able to review your play afterward. If the answer is no, they are an executive host (not a real host) and really can't do much for you.
It's important to note that hosts have more discretion at certain chains. At CET, hosts almost have ZERO discretion in what they can do for you. The computer just tells them what they can, and cannot do based on what the bean counters came up with upstairs with their silly formulas. At most every other property hosts have discretion, and can go above and beyond for you like at the MGM chain, Hard Rock, and I would assume Treasure Island. I did a test that I posted about, and it's interesting to note that some hosts are actually better than others, and are not all are created equal. In my experience, the older the host with a longer clientele list, the more discretion he or she will give in comps because he can take more chances since he has more clients. While some hosts are so tight with comps as they cannot afford for you to low/no play them so they will usually "comp on the back end," aka do nothing up front.
I stay and play at Ti on my yearly trip. My play is similar to yours and if you have the same type of "host" there isn't much they can do above your offers. These people are from the marketing department. Besides making my reservations for me, any other requests were denied or I was told to charge it to the room. But, to get meals ect. comped at checkout you would need thousands of points per day - well above what a quarter VP player could earn. They want you to first "earn" the comp nights before they will consider anything else. Never hurts to ask though.
Not to hijack this thread but what properties are you talking about?? As was stated the previous time you said this, an executive host is a higher level host. As VinVegas stated an exec host is for higher end players ( Generally the Executive Hosts deal with the higher end players. I would suggest giving the Executive Host a try if you're not satisfied with the comps currently being given. The Executive Hosts are generally supervisors and would have more authority.--exact quote from a VinVegas a casino employee)so maybe you did not get satisfaction with an exec. host, I know our host at CET in Vegas is an executive and he has more discretion than any other host we have had, including room upgrades, upfront comps, and ability to add on items. We have used a regular host at PH a number of times. At the end of each trip we ask what we owe and usually the bill is decreased or completely comped. One time we used an Executive Host at Caesars who contacted us. At the end of the trip we asked this person to review our play for any further comps and the reply was they can't do that as they don't have access.
One other item I noticed when reviewing comps the offer may not include certain days but if we e-mail the host with our offer and dates we usually will get those days. Also, the offer may not include a certain room type which the host can provide.
