I usually shuttle bus to and from the airport, but I'm coming and going at decent hours this time so figured I would try taking the bus. Staying at Flamingo Tues - Friday, so coming, if I take the WAX from the airport to the Trop/lv blvd and catch the SDX to Paris, is there like a 'back way' to get to Flamingo without having to lug a suitcase down the strip?
Then going back, can catch the SDX at Bellagio to Excal then walk over to Trop and catch the WAX to the airport. So question... will I have enough time to get through security (not checking baggage, will already have boarding pass, flying Sun Country) if i get to the airport at 11:30 and my flight leaves at 1:00? Otherwise the WAX looks like it runs about every hour. Really don't want to sit in the airport for 2.5 hours if I have to catch the 10:17 WAX at Trop. other than the 11:15. But if I have to I will.

What are your hours. In daylight, I'd take the 108 to Flamingo and then the 202 to the strip. Two fares of $2 unless you buy a $5 24 hour pass. The advantage is that the WAX runs every hour, but the 108 every 20 minutes.
If you feel you need the WAX, remember there is a free shuttle from Monte Carlo to Bellagio, but it is sunk deep into the casino so there will still be some luggage rolling. I don't recommend going on any strip bus with luggage. Just too much of a hassle.

I've ridden the WAX extensively, including between the airport and NYNY and the 201 from there to the Orleans in both directions. I have only good things to say about the WAX. HOWEVER, keeping in mind that the SDX is more expensive than the "residential" buses, and considering having to schlep and wait, I'd strongly suggest Uber. I used Uber for the first time during my August/Sept. trip and again as recently as last week. Even though I could have spent $1.50 (for a 2-hour pass with the reduced fare card), taking 201 from the Orleans to the Trop and then the WAX to the airport, going door-to-door for $10 was well worth it. Just something to consider.

    To answer OP's question:
if you catch 11:17 WAX (or whenever it is), you should be fine, worst case you arrived airport at 12, and you still have time.
I would make sure to be at the bus stop at least 10 minutes earlier just in case the bus comes earlier.

I've often seen buses arrive at their stops ahead of time, but I've never seen them depart earlier than scheduled. In fact, they'll often just sit there if running early to maintain the schedule. Of course, a couple seconds too late and you can watch the taillights disappear.

I have TSA precheck, but agree that 1 hour should be plenty of time to get to your gate.

Wow. When considering a bus connection which means waiting for a bus two times...with luggage yet...just to save $5. Really? I'm a super-saver but even that's too much for me. I take the WAX from the airport...but only if I'm staying downtown or at the Trop/LVBlvd intersection so that it's only one bus to wait around for.

We stay downtown lately but always amazes me how many people get on at the Tropicana stop and pay. 2$ to the airport. I paid that from binions and rode a long way. But it is reliable and cheap so why not.

Thanks everybody. Dewey I'll check into those routes. Smerrian, it's not about the money, but it would only cost me what, $4 from the airport. I just have never taken the bus to and from the airport and thought I would try it since I'm coming in in mid morning and leaving early afternoon. I always get a 3 day pass which I will do later on Tuesday and that would cover for my return trip to the airport. I have taken the bus with luggage quite often when I switch hotels. I wouldn't mind trying Uber someday but I don't have a smart phone, still using a flip phone so don't think I can do that. Turtleman, the stop at Trop/LV blvd is a 'time stop' which is one where they will wait if they are running ahead of schedule.

FYI, rather than paying $2 twice you can pay $3 for a two-hour pass when you get on your first bus. It's valid for unlimited rides on any residential buses for the next two hours.
