Harvey's Tahoe Book Review

On our road trip a couple weeks ago it was our plan to check in to Harvey's and hit their Book to bet and watch the Seahawk Arizona game. The Book in Harvey's advertised itself as the only non smoking Book in Tahoe and that sounded nice, and actually was the swaying point in booking Harvey's over Harrah's.

It's not much of a Book, it's nice enough I guess but small, with the majority of the screens devoted to horses, none of which are much bigger than standard home style 55" units. Maybe a dozen horse race televisions, and maybe six for sports. The racing seating is long rows of counter tops with swivel seats, and the sports viewing area are four or five card table sized tables with those padded stackable conference room chairs around them.

The picture on the Harvey's website is not EVEN close to what it looks like.

It's a CET property so all the wagering options are there and available, ticket writer was friendly, and a bet there could be cashed at any CET property so that was nice. The cocktail service was fine, we bet $200.00 and received four drink tickets, and it truly was a non smoking area.

With the limited, and uncomfortable seating, small televisions, and lack of any Book "ambiance" we didn't stay any longer than to get our drinks and head to a bar with VP to watch the game.

It's a fine option to place a bet, but not much pizzaz if you are in to that sports book vibe. Granted it was a Sunday night, but even on a busy football or basketball day there didn't appear to be enough seating capacity to make it much of a party.

Oh.......we did learn something.......took the Hawks on the money line instead of the point an half, saw no reason to give up the vig on essentially a picke em'. With the tie we assumed we had lost, but a tie on a money line bet is a push. Had no idea, there are so few ties in anything I had never considered it.
