Just was wondering if it's actually worth getting a Terrace room at Cosmo in December. It's cold for us Hawaii folks, so just was wondering if it actually is worth going outside being cold.

Yeah, it's probably worth it. In the daytime you should be able to handle it no problem. Even at night, long enough to catch a couple of fountain shows. Grab the comforter off the bed and snuggle into the loveseat.

It really does depend on how you're acclimated; coming from Boston, when I stay there in January, I leave the sliders open most of the day, because it's usually high 50's low 60's.

I'm not from Hawaii, but I still enjoy relaxing on the terrace even in December. Even if it's just a few minutes for the view or the fresh air.

Depends on how long you plan to stay in your room.
Last time I stayed at Cosmo. I stood on the balcony total 5 seconds. That's all.
So for me, Free upgrade, sure. Paid upgrade, no.

We've had balconies in December on the Bellagio side where there's no sun at all, and found it pretty chilly. If warmth is a concern you may want to ask for a room on the south side of the building where you'll get the sun most of the day (but of course, you don't get the fountain view).

I grew up in a similar climate to Hawaii and I would not get a terrace in December. For me its way to cold to even step out of the hotel at that time, let alone sit out on a balcony. I can relate to your situation given that your body is accustomed to warm weather. For me its "freezing" in the 60's. LOL. Just my opinion.

We're taking our chances just for the view. We'll be facing south because we don't need the fountain view, any time Vegas is sunny and 65 degrees equals short sleeves for me. BTW, friends had fountain view in July. I think they were on the thirtieth floor and the music from the fountain show couldn't be heard from that high.

I would say get the balcony. It is special. Wrap in a blanket if needed.

I celebrated my birthday at Cosmo in December a couple of years ago with a wraparound terrace suite. I was on the opposite side of the East Tower from the Bellagio fountains and the morning sun hit that side and kept it warm enough for me to sit outside in a bathrobe and enjoy myself. Nighttime, it was a little cooler, but the views from the terrace along with a few beverages kept me warm :)

I tried it at the end of november some years ago. It was very cold. Sometimes it was raining. The view ist great, but you need good weather to enjoy them.

I can't imagine staying at the Cosmo and NOT having the balcony. Its one of my favorite things about the hotel.

If you're paying and not excited about the terrace due to the cold, I'd be one of the few that would opt for no.

Personally I like the vote of getting a blanket and enjoying it, but I like nippy weather. I've known some people who hate the cold, and I know they wouldn't use it.

Depends on the price point, for $30 or so more a night it's worth the gamble on whether you'll use it, but if you're talking $50-$100 a night, and hate the cold, I'd say put the money towards a nice dinner.

For me though, the terrace is what makes Cosmo our favorite spot! :)

This made me think of the story (myth?) that windows don't open in Vegas to stop people jumping. Is that complete rubbish? From what I can see in the pic, it looks like this Terrace is quite open.

I always pay extra to get a balcony when I'm comped a city room. No, I don't spend much time on the balcony, but its nice to get that view during morning coffee and a few moments before bed. Great for a few wistful minutes before check-out, too. Do it!

Does the pope shit in the woods?

Of course you should get a terrace room...how is this even a question worth contemplating?

Not worth staying without a terrace; the terrace is what sets Cosmo apart. I have stayed at Cosmo in December many times and use the terrace more than I do in July when the sun is beating down.
