hey so wonderfing when you guys play for fun or more "serious" table game players do you have set of dollar amount as a goal to win and if you do do you actually "get up" and leave?

I personally have experienced myself if I was an roll doing well I may keep playing and end up losing my winnings and I have seen plenty of others making same mistake as I have too... lately I been good at leaving with most of my winnings... just wonder what you experiences are like..

I am usually the hit-n-run type, except when I'm drunk (who, moi?), then I might lose it all again.

I usually try and double up. If I make it I get up. As far as table games go, I play pai gow poker almost exclusively, so doubling is enough of a miracle for me! May take a swing at blackjack next time but I find it boring, especially if I lose.

I have no idea what I'm doing at table games so my goal is to play until my buy in chips are gone and not buy in any more. Lol Managed to play hours on a $400 buy in at $50 BJ. BUT that was because some guy across the table was throwing me chips to do my double downs. Lol

When I sit down, my goal is to double my buy in or get up when I am down by half.
But then I end up staying for that one extra hand or hang on for just one last cocktail.

Wait......... I just saw your picture so.. answer is No! Lol

This is our "system" on penny slots slots and $0.25 vp:

Put in a $20. If you lose it, put in another $20. If you get the machine up to $50 or over, hit the collect button and put the TITO in your pocket. Any TITO over $50 cannot be used again for gambling for the trip. They get cashed in and the money goes home with us.

Hi. I buy in at BJ or $500, playing a $50 unit and going between 1-3 units, more with a double or splits. When that $500 is lost that mini session is over. But on the winning side I have time limits and some win amount rules so a good win would be anything at $500 or above but I'd settle for a $250 win as a minimum. I play multiple sessions in a day, I have fun but I am deadly serious about this pastime, so I generally do not drink alcohol whilst or before I play and I play perfect basic strategy. Last visit to Vegas was successful ($2k profit). Unless you count you cannot beat the house at BJ, so any win whilst you're having fun is what Vegas is about for me as well as all the other non-gambling activities we all go for.

The casinos operate to take money from you so you need be aware of the environment, the distractions like free alcohol, no clocks, playing with chips, the promise of comps etc. You have three major weapons to use to counter those crafty casinos:

    1) your choice of what to play (including knowledge of the games)
    2) how much to bet
    3) when to get up and leave.

If you stay in control and use your weapons well, you may not always win, but you may last longer at the tables and have a good time.

hit and run used to be my M.O. I need to get back to that, it worked more often than not. I am not a High Roller, $5 or $10 table, I would start at one end of the strip and come back down the other. I would buy in at BJ for maybe $300, get up $50-$100 and get out. maybe go to another table in the same casino or just go to the next casino. at the end of my run I would be up $500-$1000 and I was quite pleased with that. somewhere along the line I lost my discipline and got burned out on BJ. also I got really stupid and started playing slots. I don't play on the strip anymore but I could still do this downtown where they do have 3:2 for low rollers.

I don't have a set "win" goal. But if I do have a good streak at the tables or a few big hits on the machine and I'm up a significant amount I will set a stop loss at that point to preserve some of my win, but will keep playing until I hit that point. Say I hit a couple quads on $1 VP and I'm up $400 bucks or so, I will set a stop loss of like $200-$300 and play until the winning streak ends or until I lose that $200-$300. Then I cash out and preserve some of my winnings! If I keep winning, then I will adjust my stop loss so I will go home with even more of a win.

I figure if I just had a good streak, why not keep playing and see if it keeps going?

I just treat it as a holiday, and a couple weeks to spend some time with friends drinking, eating, and playing poker.

If I don't need to put my hotel on the c/c at the end, it's a good trip :D
