Ok, just watched Breanna's Vegas clip about "Stand up Vegas Themed" and it made me grin. All the talk about the Cabana guys and sleazy pick up attempts made me curious, what was YOUR sleaziest/worst/embarrassing pickup attempt you've encountered? (For men or women.)

Mine: Two trips ago was in Monte Carlo, going up to my room quickly. Nicely dressed 30-40 something guy in elevator kept trying to chitchat, but it bordered on a pick-up, even kept grilling me about where my room was (nice).

I was polite and just subtly worked it in that I was just there with hubby, that we were having a great trip, and I hope he did too. What was creepy was that it was like he was HOPING I was a prostitute! Mind you, I am 40, don't look 40, but am not a hot 25 year old. I also do NOT dress for the prowl. So it was just a weird experience.

I go back down to gamble. Lurko pants sees on Midnight diamonds, makes a beeline for me, and starts playing next to me. Ok, free country. I play a little, move to another machine (they're set in a circle), and he follows.

He's still creepy, but it's a free country, and I just ignore him. He keeps grilling me with dumb, lame questions. I'm polite, but clipped, and I'm thinking "Just let me play buddy, and go away."

The coup d'état was finally that, when he couldn't reel me in with his "charming" conversation, so he finally whips out a hundred dollar bill and waves it around and asks, "I only have hundreds...will this machine take a bill this big? I don't know what to do, as I only have hundreds."

I say, "they do, that's all I have been playing with, but if you're not comfortable, there is a bill breaker over there..." He then just stared at me with puppy dog eyes and FINALLY went away.

In all my Vegas trips this was my creepiest, as I swear it's like he was hoping I was a prostitute, and if you saw how I dress, nice, but definitely conservative for Vegas, it was the slimiest and weirdest encounter I've had.

What is YOUR ickiest Vegas encounter?

At least once a trip I am approached by a member of the "welcoming committee" in or around Crystals.

Usually she's wearing a jean jacket on an already hot morning.
    Saying sweet nothings like:
"Howdy, handsome. How you doin'? You in town long? You wanna be in me longer?"

Usually my attempt at humor gets them to take my polite no for an answer and they smile and leave me be.

My favorite was two trips ago.

"You want some of my juiciness with your breakfast today, honey?"
"No thanks, I already had some TANG back in my room."

So his heart was broken, but if his bill was ever broken the world may never know! :)

Hahah Richard, I am grinning. I don' think the bill was ever broken, it was a ploy, and only that. I have pretty thick skin and am not one to rip a poor guy apart, even on a bad pickup line, but this one was "toe-ing the line" :D

PS DMR, ugh, grab-and-go, you have me beat!

Made the mistake of walking to Circus Circus from center strip. A promoter started following us asking how long we were in town and we just ignored him. That seemed to really piss him off and he kept following us telling us how rude we were being. Still didn't say anything, just looked at him and kept walking until he finally dropped back.

Another kinda creepy but harmless moment in LV, and this had to be over 20 years ago.

I was playing VP at the old Stardust when they had VP machines up in the area by the shops.

These two guys who looked right out of "Night At The Roxbury" were hanging around. One was very obnoxious and the other was just giving off "I'm not with him!" looks. The clown sits down next to me and asks me if anyone ever told me how much I looked like the queen on the VP machine? (WTF????) I got up and left and he immediately sat down by this blonde lady nearby and I assume came on to her as well.

As I was walking to the main casino I saw a "suit" and a uniformed security guard walking rapidly up to the area, pointing and such. I assume they got complaints and bounced the clowns.

The creepiest thing to me is when I saw my ex girlfriend working as a cocktail waitress at Harrah long ago she looked me straight in the eyes and I froze. She kept walking by.

Another semi-creepy moment, and I know I told this story both here and on "the other network" before. It was more of an eye-opening "I really live a sheltered life" moment ...

On what was tantamount to a dare by the husband of a girlfriend of mine, I accompanied him to a very very very trashy bar (to this day I do not admit where it was or what it was!) in one of the less salubrious neighborhoods of the Las Vegas area. Yes, the bar was as nasty as I suspected but we did have a couple of drinks and nature called. I set off to the necessary room. As I entered I noticed this very brassy blonde touching herself up at the vanity but did not really think that much about it. I found the least slimy stall and did my business. As I was in there, somebody else came in, someone she apparently knew. The conversation went kinda like this ...

"Say, what's the best way to get to Lamb and Lake Mead?" (or something like that, some intersection in that area)
"Well, you go this way, turn left, turn right, yadda yadda .... why?"
"Oh, I'm supposed to meet a trick over there at midnight."

Mine is small scale. I am always aware of my surrounding. Period.

We were on Fremont St watching one of the cover bands. I was grabbing drinks at the outside bar which I believe is the D? My wife was about 15 feet to my left, finishing her drink and kind of dancing to a Bon Jovi tune. Standing by herself. These two dirty looking skeeze bags kind of dropped in out of nowhere and were about 8 feet or so on the other side of her just watching her. Scouting her.

I don't know what their end game was. Chat up a drunk looking female standing by herself and pick pocket her, take the purse or something worse. Who knows but they were totally working something.

I grabbed my beer and walked over and looked at them and then her and said who are you buddies? They moved on. She said she never noticed them.

    Good move, Barely!
    Likely a heroic gesture!

Those dudes were likely there to do one or both of these bad, bad things:

    1) Harm the lady.
    2) Listen to covers of Bon Jovi's "new stuff."

A buddy and I visited downtown one night. From MMS we walked down to that bar where you could play old video games. On our way back to the FSE area we got separated in the crowd around where they were building the zip line stand. However I can still see by buddy. I'm about 10 people behind him in the crowd when this old, nasty ass, sick skinny, saggy everything, toothless crack/meth whore latches onto my buddy's arm inter locking arms with him as he walks. I yell watch your wallet at him like 10 times from behind and finally caught up with them. She offered anything and everything for some money and he just kept on telling her no politely as not to cause even more of a scene. No matter what we did we couldn't ditch her till almost the plaza. Went back to the strip where this stuff happens but it's far more civilized.

I've honestly never had anything creepy happen to me in Vegas. I guess i don't look like a mark, or I hang out in the right places.

Not really creepy, but a punk at a blackjack table in the Mirage was harassing the dealer so bad she started to cry. He started in on the ethnic slurs (she was Filipino) at which point I offered to punch his lights out. We argued for quite a while. His arguments were of the idiotic Millenial bullshit of how much more money he had than me. I told him we could step outside and his buddies could watch while a 60 something kicked his 20 something ass.

I moved to another table and he approached with a double shot of something. I refused, thinking here we go, he gets me drunk and I wake up tomorrow with my hair shaved off, a magic marker beard and something stuck up my ass. I told he had his chance and he blew it.

I got up and walked over to TI and won $200.

The kicker, I've never told this part before, is that earlier that evening, I went to the Carrot Top show and he gave me one of the much coveted shots of Crown Royal and he said to me (I was wearing a Phillies cap) "Philly guys are stand up guys."

I am no prude, but I do get sick of being approached by hookers. if you are a middle-aged man walking the strip or Fremont alone, they are like flies on you. most of them nasty-looking. many years ago, 15 or so, I stayed at the Tropicana. mind you, I have stayed at a lot of hotels in Vegas, Chicago, and Florida. this room was dirty slimy creepy and beyond, and I have seen a lot. I am sure that the Trop it is better now, so don't judge them by that, but I never went back.
