Yes saw that too and yes my final day is the 27th. Also the prices for 16/17/18 keep getting higher, so I think I don't have another choice anymore than to move hotel on the 16th. :(

    Screenshot_20161024-231516.png

I always stayed on the Strip and always at one resort per trip. But previous times I was always able to find a good deal, because I had a long time to research offers and wait for the right price to come along. But now I run in to the problem, that everywhere I look, there are always a couple of days that are much more expensive, causing that I won't be able to spend my entire trip at one place.

I think I just have to accept the fact and do what so many people do (and swear by), to move around a few times. I will just see it from the bright side, having 3 holidays in one.

That is the way to look at it.

I don't love moving but honestly after 6 or 7 days, I'm ready. I slow down the pace a day or two before moving, and then it really does feel like a new trip, hit the ground running when you get to the new place.

Plus, moving isn't the same as packing to go home. When you're moving, you don't really pack, you just shove everything in there any which way.

If you're using a promo rate, there might have a limit on days of stay. Why don't you just call and have them book it for you? Have the cheapest rate in front of you, the total and everything. The reservation agent will have same rate pulled up and tell him/her to give you the published rate. And if it goes up once selected, they should be able to manually adjust it. There are apps you can use to call international for few cents a minute and uses data.

I booked 4Queens! No resort fees and I'm looking forward to stay Downtown for the first time.

The last days/weekend I will look for a hotel on the Strip again.

    Thanks all for your input!

Just an update on my hotel search and bookings...

I FINALLY HAVE ALL MY NIGHTS COVERED AND I'M SO EXCITED!!! :woohoo:

I had a week booked at Harrah's and 8 nights at 4Queens, but I have cancelled 3 nights at 4Queens, cause I thought 8 nights was too long. Those nights I will now stay at Circus Circus. Not the best hotel and a bit out of the way, but I wanted to stay on the Strip and those nights were crazy expensive everywhere else, except at CC (I know, there is probably a good reason for that, but well...). And besides I don't really care about the room, it's kind of fun to explore the Strip from a different angle for a change. And for the last 4 nights (including Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving weekend, thus expensive), I've treated myself on Flamingo. Not because I like the hotel, but I love the location. Together with the week at Harrah's and also the days Downtown, I am very happy with my itinerary!

Thank you all, for your support!

PS off-topic: Those resort fees are really killing! What a scam! If they're keeping up this way, I am afraid I can't afford to stay on the Strip anymore. That would be so sad!

Haven't been to that part of the strip in years but as I recall, there's a huge black hole (where stardust used to be) between Circus Circus and TI where you start seeing the lights of the real "strip". Riviera used to be across CC but it's been imploded. Plus you see a lot of kids at CC, it's a family place. If I have to make a choice, I wound rather stay downtown and take cab or uber to the strip.

I actually think you are right, Drc. With my clouded memory I thought Encore and Wynn where kind of across the street from CC and therefore it would be a nice walk to center Strip. But after your comments, I looked it up on the map and it's really far!

So I'm back to the drawing board and looking for options again. Will keep my reservations at CC until I find something better. I don't want to stay Downtown, because I'm sure I have seen it after 5 days and a taxi/uber/lyft from CC to center Strip is a lot cheaper than from Downtown.

Hey Lady, if you were willing to go as far as Circus Circus, you MIGHT check out Tuscany Suite, just a couple blocks off strip. My in-laws stayed there for years because father in law is frugal and MIL is picky---and it fit both their needs.

They're pretty rooms from what I understand, and fairly afforable ($45 a night or so, plus resort fees even there. :( ). http://www.tuscanylv.com/ while it's off strip slightly, I think it's a longer walk from NYNY to bellagio.

And some rooms have a kitchenette and fridge, which might be nice for an extended trip, even if it's just havin some small bites in the room.

Much better rooms and location than CC. If you like them, even if you see good prices online, I'd email to see if they can cut you an even better deal since you're staying a bit longer. Worst they'll say is no. :)

    you might check them out!

    Thank you so much!

I'm only booked for 3 nights at CC and with the other nights I am really satisfied already (Harrah's, Flamingo and 4Queens).

The dates I'm looking for are 16/17/18 November and for some reason (probably a convention, but it doesn't really matter) all hotels on the Strip in my price range (to give an idea: CET Bally's and under / MGM Monte Carlo and under) are very expensive on those dates.

At Circus Circus I'm now booked for:
    $147 + RF and taxes = $235 total

So far the other options I found are (in order of price):

    Tuscany Suites
    $164 + RF and taxes = $257
This could be a good option, as it is fairly close to the Strip and seems walkable. But I would still feel a bit isolated I think.

    Polo Towers
    $182 + RF and taxes = $265
Of which $203 is NOT REFUNDABLE!!!
So I can't change my mind afterwards, but the location (on the Strip) is favorite out of all my options.

    Gold Coast
    $240 + RF and taxes = $323
Also out of the way, but I can walk to Rio and take the shuttle to Harrah's. I think this is my least favorite option though.

    Hooters
    $269 + RF and taxes = $368
I would like to stay on that end of the Strip, have easy access to Tropicana, MGM, NY-NY and to the monorail station at MGM (with myVegas BOGO) and the free tram at Monte Carlo to Bellagio.

Those are the best I could find (pricewise) on the Strip (and better located than CC).

So what are your thoughts? I'm tempted to go for Polo Towers, which is only $30 more than Circus Circus.

I would probably go with Polo Towers because of the location.

I stayed at Tuscany Suites on my first visit to Vegas. The rooms are big and they've spruced them up quite a bit judging by the pics on their website. But there are a couple things to think about:

It's a little less than a mile from the strip, and about a half mile to the northeast corner of Bally's property. The walk during the day is OK, and things may have changed, but the corner of Koval is always a zoo, and I wouldn't want to do that walk back from the Strip late at night.

Also, besides the main lobby and casino, the rooms are basically in a series of free standing apartment buildings (do an Earth view on Google Maps and you'll see what I mean). So you could take a cab/Uber and have the driver drop you somewhat close to the entrance to your building, but there wasn't any security in the buildings themselves. I'm not saying it's overly dangerous, but it's a different setup than an enclosed property.

    Thank you again, Chuck!

At Circus Circus I even had a cheaper option, but that was also in a detached building, called something like motor manor. I didn't take it because of that, so that takes Tuscany off the list.

I'm getting more and more enthousiastic about Polo Towers. But the 3rd party site where I saw the offer on, shows conflicting information about it the price of $265 is ex- or including the resort fees and taxes (unfortunately it's in Dutch, otherwise I could show the screenshots). If it's excluded, then there will be something like $100 added on top of it, so then I will have to rethink. I have send an email to the company and as soon as I get a satisfying answer I will jump on the offer (before it's gone!).

It MAY include taxes but more likely than not excludes resort fees otherwise it defeats the purpose. The main purpose of resort fees is to increase direct revenue to the properties and avoid paying commissions to third party sites.

I got the answer back and they say that I only pay them part of the total amount and the rest is for resort fees which I pay localy.

So I almost bought it, but then it occured to me that I better first cancel Circus Circus, cause otherwise I might end up stuck with two bookings.

But to my frustration I can't find a way to cancel my trip on the website. To book your trip they encourage you to do it online and not call, but it looks like I can only cancel my reservation by calling.

    Anyone has any ideas?

I may has a solution for you, but I'm not sure I have followed where you ended up at for the moment. Tell me if this is correct. You were going to stay at 4 Queens from Nov 16-23 but didn't want to stay downtown that many days. You have Flamingo for Nov 24-27. You are trying to figure out something for Nov 16-18 and looking at those other options.

Why not then stay downtown for Nov 16-20 instead. You can then stay at Flamingo for Nov 21-23 and not move for the 24th-27 for about the same price as you are looking at those other options for the 16th-18th.

Thank you for thinking along! And you're totally right, that would have made it much easier.

Why I am making it difficult for myself is because the 22nd and 23rd I will meet up with a friend Downtown and on the 16th, 17th and 18th I'm more hanging out around the Strip.

But I am quite happy with the deal at Polo Towers (considering it's including resort fees) and will just call the hotel in an hour or so to cancel.

Got CC sorted and booked Polo Towers!

I'm so happy with my new itinerary, it's the best of everything! (Ok, probably not in your world, but I LOVE it!).

Now my next challenge is to bring as little as possible, so I can move around quickly (not a lot of chance, but who knows, I might surprise myself). And to get familiar with Uber and Lyft. Pfff... it's hard work, a Vegas trip lol!

Ooh... I can't wait, only 11 days to go!!

    :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

I actually was a bit concerned with a night walk for you as well. If you uber it, no problem...but I also would not suggest walking it at night. Chuck is a tall guy (from a previous post about sleeping on a cosmo couch), and I am comfortable navigating good and not-so-good neighborhoods, and neither of us would want to walk it at night. ;)

I'm thinking Polo towers might be your best bet. I am not familiar with them (except from seeing the purple lights), but the location would be probably the best, and $30 more than CC is a cincher.

Good luck, and thanks for letting us live vicariously through your planning! Planning is half the fun of a trip for me!

(P.S. just saw post-post you booked Polo Towers, great job, I think it's a winning decision!)

Yes, I love the planning too. Even if I don't do any of it, the planning is part of the whole Vegas experience and it wouldn't be the same without it. Only half the fun lol.

Now that you have everything booked lol...............

    1. Did you book the first part of your trip at Harrahs while being logged into Total Rewards? (I am guessing you did because rates displaying are low on the calendar)

    2. If you did, were you comped for those 5 nights, or were they at a paid rate (not sure how much you gambled last trip(s)).

If you are comped during that first segment, then have 72 hours (likely 4 calendar days) at another hotel - you could conceivably get another 5 comp nights after that at Harrah's or another CET property. (I would switch also - don't want to be in one place that many nights).

The answer is no to everything ;)

I don't have anything comped. Never played enough for that, or at least I thought and I didn't even insert a players card most of the time. But after reading a lot on this board, I'm going to change my strategy (or start using a strategy I should say) and try to get something in return for my play.

And I booked Harrah's together with my flights.
