Boarding Pass, GVR Seriously?

Looks like 30 days from my first/last visit and I was just sent my 1st batch of offers.

I have never gotten a card until then, and it was an upfront host offer with food/bev to get me in the door.

I stayed/played 2 nights. 42,000 points, div 3 (triple points) div 2 (days) $1= 1 point. $7,000 per day, all slots, very little video poker, of coin-in.

At the end of Day one I was Gold. At the end of Day two I was then Platinum with Boarding Pass.

And my exciting new offers are!

3 Times points every day (everyone gets this with a swipe of their card any way)

And 1 room for 1 night at the end of the year which I might have to pay resort fees and taxes on.

WTF? Am I jumping the gun here? They cant be serious can they? I have a host, and she was tickled with my play so I'm sure I can cut my own deal. But she cant do free play so I blindly assumed I'd have decent corporate offers waiting for me.

Still too soon? Or do they truly not cater to non-locals like many people say?

I put in a TINY amount of play at Palace Station and got on the 3 night off/vip events train..
put in a bit more play, and got some food and freeplay...but only halfway to platinum...getting to platinum on all slots should get you good offers.

 

I agree, 30 days is too soon. The "corporate machine" runs slowly, even at Station.

 

Thanks Tim, just curious what would have even triggered them to email/snail mail me the 1 night and triple points offer. My local casinos here reward you for staying away.

I'll get $250 in free play, use that and keep up my average. Then the next offer is $100. They will keep lowering what it will take to hook you back. So I have to purposely stay away for 60 days and those $250 offers start coming again.

I just dont know how stations does it if they send out a garbage offer 1st and see if that will get you in the door. If yes, why bother sending better ones...

 

I play enough on my 2 visits per year to Red Rock (GVR sister property) to keep me at Gold Status. I get offers for 2 nights free with free access to the buffet daily. I check in/out in the High Roller/invited guest room across the lobby from regular check-in. They always take the resort fees off of my account at check-out with my moderate play.

You and me both! I was hoping to squeeze in another trip before the year is done. But if I'[m waiting for the comp machine to slowly roll that wont happen with them. I remember coming home from the trump Plaza in AC and already having offers sitting in my mail box. They must have mailed them the next day after I played.

I played in the end of the 3rd quarter. I would think if any offers were coming I would have seen something good for Nov/Dec by now.

Except the only offer I was sent was good for the last week of Dec. That's why I took to these boards to try and piece together what they might have in mind. I doubt my 1st offer from them would be good for one week 100 days after I was there (like what I was sent). And get yet another offer later that would be good for sooner.

I guess you never know.

 

That's kinda insulting considering how much coin-in you had. I'd be a little PO'd and not that interested in returning any time soon.

 

Hm, I got a three nights comped stay from them after about 20000 points....and I got that just two weeks after my stay....which doesn't help me since I am oversees and come to vegas only twice per year.
no freeplay and/or food comps though...

 

I stay at Red Rock 2-3 times per year and maintain Platinum status. My offers are usually for 3 comp nights with no black outs, resort fees waived, $40 in free play, and $25 resort credit. I don't think that Station cares much about non-local business. I continue to return because I like the quality of the hotel rooms, the selection/prices of food, and the liberal VP pay tables. That said, if they lower my room comps to fewer than three nights, I'll probably just stop visiting.

I would guess you would have a similar offer to what I've been getting that will arrive next month, and be valid for the 1st quarter of 2017.

Now I'm back to being concerned LOL. I'm most definitely not dependent on GVR for return offers. I can stay at a few other clubs. I'd just be annoyed if I put in real play and this was my bounce back offer.

 

No offense to you at all. But if that is what they give me I would not go back. I, maybe foolishly, thought chasing comps off strip would lead to better offers than my on strip exploits. Bigger fish in a smaller pond and all.

The same trip I stayed with GVR I checked out of Treasure Island which gave me $375 in free play and their suite for 2 nights (could have stayed 3). I just cant see not staying with Bellagio for free, collecting $100 in free play + $100 in resort spend, to get 40 bucks and 25 in eats at GVR.

I'm going to assume they have better slot paybacks than the big guys do. But I still cant negate the much higher offers.

 

I don't stay at Red Rock for the comps. I stay there because I enjoy the hotel. Strip properties just don't hold any interest for me. I don't enjoy the crowds, the food/drink prices, or the gambling odds. For me, increased comps at Bellagio wouldn't compensate for the rest of its shortcomings in those other areas.

 

I'm a little confused. The offer you posted is over NYE, so I wouldn't expect any free play with that. I wouldn't be insulted at an offer for that time period at all. And until you get the actual offer in hand you won't know what it really is.

I hate that all you can see online is the dates and the place. Until you either get the mailed offer or the email version you don't really know what it is. Having said that, it seems like my Red Rock and GVR offers pretty much suck lately. They used to have a Stay & Play offer every month, but they haven't had them lately. With that offer, I would get $250 free play up front and then you earn free play as you go, up to $1000 more with $100k coin in. I would also be able to swipe at the kiosk and get my regular monthly offer free play on top of it (which is currently $500, but was only $200), so that would result in $1450 to $1750 free play for $100k coin in PLUS the $300 earned with the $100k play.

I'm Chairman right now, but I will lose it at the end of December because I haven't been in once this 6 month earning period because they haven't had the Stay & Play offers. But, I'll post my play here so you can get an idea of what it took to get $200 free play/$50 dining offers. The $500 free play/$100 dining offers just started coming after my June play.

I got an email telling me to check online for my offers. So I created an online account just to see and this was all that was in there. I'd still expect something with a NYE offer. I mean, the strip guys offer up some fancy stuff like a wine toasting, party or other event to go with the free room.

But if you are right that online only shows you dates and nothing else that might be my saving grace!

Thank you for your entire post. It really helps put things in perspective as to what to expect. I'm sure it took time to get all your facts and figures in here and I really do appreciate you taking the time to do so.

Stations isn't the greatest with offers, that's for sure, but I do think that Red Rock and GVR are lovely properties and the good games in the casino kinda make up for their offer shortfalls. I just find it hard to go off-strip when I'm getting better offers on strip.

But that's what shows up in their online offers. If you click on them, it still doesn't show what the actual offer includes.

 

Oh, I forgot to address the NYE offer. They've always included a party, but no free play or anything else. I don't have mine in hand yet (from Stations - CET and 4Queens have already sent mailers), but I wouldn't expect anything to change this year.

Mine is just like yours online.

 

Marketing offers for GVR/RR pretty much suck. Hosts will do much better at those properties. My first time at GVR I made Chairman by the 3rd or 4th day. I have since gone back to GVR once and tried RR once, and was able to renew Chairman again. My marketing offers are always for regular rooms, little to no resort credit, and maybe $200 FP. So far, through the Host, I have been staying in Tuscany Suites with a connector. If you don't have a Host, I would call and ask to speak to one and work with them directly.

 

This is really ridiculous, but I like GVR and Red Rock, and I think what keeps me from going there more is that the dealers and other employees wear T-Shirts. When I'm on vacation, I don't want to feel like I'm hanging out at a TGI Friday's.
