So, with all the price gouging going on in the casino industry as it suffers the demise of the American "spend now-pay later" society, I stubbornly refuse to be swindled while on vacation. Therefore, I vow to never succumb to the nefarious schemes played out by the casinos to separate me from my hard-earned dinero en wallet-o. I will chose when to piss it away, not the casino. I will choose when to loose the twenty from my grasp for a product of relative equal value, not Mr. Casino. I. AM. MR. FRUGAL. I REFUSE to drop two twenty-spots for two "free" drink tickets at a swank bar on a machine with shitty pay tables. I REFUSE to pay a crisp fitty for two burgers, fries, and some fizz-water on the strip for a meal. Tacos El Gordo, you da MAN! If you have a resort fee, homey don't play dat. Hookers, keep it real. Time-Share? Get thee behind be, SATAN!
All that being said, I humbly enquire as to where I might find a liquor store worthy of my money, in exchange for a bottle of my favorite tonic, my exilir-of-the-Gods, without the gouge. I cast my question into the ether, in hopes of a timely response. My flight leaves in 7 days, 21 hours and change, and I WILL get shit-faced at a price of my choosing, and puke in the trashcan of my choosing, on Fremont Street, on all Hallow's Eve.

I don't know if it's the least expensive, but I like to stock up at Lee's Discount Liquors. There are a bunch of them around the valley. Closest to the Strip is on Flamingo. Pretty good selection and very helpful staff.

Lees is OK, but I've found the cheapest is the Coast Casinos liquor shops ... at Gold Coast, Orleans, etc. 1.75 L of basic spirits for less than $15, plus good wine prices if you are into that.

May be hard to get to, but if you're going out of your way to Lees, etc, might be worth a visit.

Thanks, guys. I am renting a car, so location is not an issue. I'll be stocking my 4Q sink with ice and liquor for Halloween, prolly be hauling quart-size drinks (White Russians, Rum and Cokes, Whiskey Sour, etc), around Fremont Street next weekend. Might even have an open bar Halloween night for those VMB'ers interested in partying downtown.

I was in our local Total Wines and More a few days ago and was talking to the manager, who is from Vegas, and he mentioned that a new Total Wines will be opening soon in the Town Square shopping area on the strip and very close to the airport. He also said that they'll be delivering to the strip hotels.

Total Wines has a amazing selection at great prices and they'll blow away the competition.

I checked the Total Wines website and it showed "Opening Soon"...not soon enough for my trip tomorrow, but hopefully by our December trip .

As mentioned above - Gold Coast or Orleans.

We usually hit up a grocery store for soda, water, etc and usually just buy our liquor and beer there.

There is a Smith's just West of Orleans on Tropicana and another just west of Gold Coast on Flamingo. I think the one on Flamingo is closer to GC than the one on Tropicana is to the Orleans. (Sorry, that's a really awkward sentence.)

    Cheers (literally),
    Kelly

I second Total Wine and more. We usually go to the Henderson branch. I'm happy to hear one is coming to Town Square.

Also Gold Coast and Orleans liquor stores are good prices.

I'm with a group that's staying downtown for Halloween, and some will want to buy their own bottle for our trip, I am certain. I have a rental car, but driving around the greater Vegas area for a bottle of booze isn't on my to-do list. That said, we'll be driving around enough areas in the first 24 hours (Sunday evening through Monday afternoon) to hit an off-strip joint. I'm not surprised by the markup I see on bottles at ABC or anywhere on Fremont that sells whiskey or rum. But I'd have to believe that just about any liquor store beyond walking distance of the major casinos is going to be reasonably priced when comparing to getting it in the heart of Fremont.

Since I'm not a "buy my own bottle" guy, I've never priced liquor at Orleans, despite many stays there. Makes me wonder what their price for 1.75 of Captain Morgan is in comparison to Fremont and non-tourist businesses.

I stopped by Costco over by Palace Station last trip just for the hell of it. Ended up getting three bottles of Veuve Champagne for $32 each and a 18 pack of smart water for like $7 or $8. Can't even get it that cheap at home!! Liquor was real reasonable as well. Cheaper than any of the liquor stores i have been in out there!! Its worth a stop if you have a car and are nearby and someone has a costco card!!

I live in an ABC state, so it always amazes me to visit Costcos that sell liquor!!! Best prices, absolutely, BUT only huge bottles, and only whatever they stock - if you like it, you're in luck. But....

(at least I can get wine & beer at my own Costco)

MSS (and maybe other downtown Boyd properties) has good prices in their gift shop. 750mL vodka for $14 and maybe 10% off with BConnected card.

Coast Casinos have always had about the best pricing, but not always convenient to access. Lee's also has good pricing, a larger selection and numerous locations. Total Wine also has good pricing and selection, but up here, (Seattle), they are located near large shopping malls which I prefer to avoid. The other option would be stores like Vons or Smiths. You'll pay another couple of bucks per bottle, but if you're already going for water, snacks etc., I'd go for the convenience of one stop shopping.

    Good Luck!

Just a confirmation that Total Wines is now open on the south strip very close to the airport. You can also order online and your order will be ready in an hour. Haven't checked with them about delivery options.
