So, I just treated myself to a 27" iMac. Pretty neat computer. One of the several problems I'm having is that I have some videos on an external hard drive that I'm trying to play on my iMac but I'm unable to. What is the best way to view the AVI, MP4 and other movie extensions that I downloaded from my Windows computer to my external hard drive. Thanks VMBers........

I have ultimate video converter. I convert my windows files to the appropriate iPad, iPhone, iMac video sizes automatically. It's pretty sweet, drag and drop. Works for me.

Long-time Mac user concurs - VLC is an essential app to have, like a Swiss Army knife for media.
