I will be staying at the Palazzo next month 9th - 12th on a quick 3 night trip. This will be my first time staying at Palazzo. Any tips, suggestions, certain tower to ask for?

Welcome to Palazzo, our home away from home!

There's only one tower, and unfortunately the way it sits on the strip there aren't a lot of great views. Some people request the 900-block of rooms to see toward the High Roller, etc. Personally the back looking out over the golf course behind Wynn isn't bad. I actually don't mind looking straight across at TI and Mirage either. One thing to look out for is ask for a higher floor, if you're lower down sometimes you'll look straight at Venetian or the half-built tower (St. Mark's I believe its called). Normally the $20 trick (and being very friendly) gets us a great view on a high floor. Unless you're spending a ton of time in the room, I wouldn't bother upgrading to a different floor plan, the standard suite is more than sufficient for sleeping, lounging in the evenings, etc. Save the extra money for gambling.

I assume you're familiar with the property and don't need to be reminded to sign up for Club Grazie. If you are a member (or become one), they run daily slot tournaments Sunday - Thursday. For every 1,000 points you earn you get an entry, (max. 3) and the total prize pool is I believe $2,000 each day to the top 10 finishers. Just go to the Grazie desk at Palazzo anytime to play. They do rolling entries so there is about an 8-hour window you can play in. Rounds are 3 minutes and are fun to watch. Last time we went my wife managed to win a bit of free play every day. Especially Mon-Tues there are often not a lot of entries. Any other questions feel free to fire away, I'm trying to remember what I wish I had known our first time several years ago but can't recall. :)

Thanks FDC. I am a Grazie card member just don't gamble there a whole lot. 95% of the time I stay at MGM casinos on the south strip. I received the generic mailer from V/P about a slot tourney that week. So I am getting the room comped for the 3 nights besides the resort fee. How is the comp/point system compared to Milfe? I'm primarily a slot player with some LIR, UTH and some craps in between.

We stayed over Memorial Day on the 18th floor overlooking the pool. What I noticed the most was how dark the room stayed and even with the lights on the room seemed too dark. The furniture looked very nice, but wasn't very comfortable. Love the casino and other parts of the hotel, but probably won't stay again.

Maybe the view over the golf course (enjoy it while it's still there) would be brighter.

Regarding the resort fee, sometimes they comp it as part of your offer, sometimes they don't. I know several that have gotten it waived (without expressly asking) with the $20 trick. So its worth a short.

I'm not overly familiar with Mlife's point system, we do Grazie and Total Rewards primarily. I always found Mlife's express comps system a bit confusing (I'm sure its very simple), so I really like Grazie's approach. I have been told I'd earn a lot more points playing at Mlife than Grazie, and I know I would earn more with more play at CET as well. But the rooms keep us coming back. That said, you'll earn absolutely no points for table games - either toward comps or status level. They will consider the theo for backend comps, you just can't earn free play with it. For that reason I normally do most of my craps sessions down at O'Sheas, Cromwell, etc. TR doesn't give a ton of points but at least its something.

Edit: And good luck in the slot tournament. My wife always has a blast in those.

Palazzo still has the best standard room on the strip.

Palazzo gives Status Points (tier credits) for slots totally based on theo. If you do a measured coin-in session and then check how many Status Points you earned, you can actually calculate the exact theo of a machine.

Make sure you eat the grand lux late night, its awesome. If you like Italian, Trattoria Regiano is delicious!
Lagazzi sport book is the best if youre trying to watch sports and eat ok food. Resort fee gets your into the gym on the 4th floor.
    Pizza at Grimaldis is money!

They have a heated outdoor pool that may be open...you might want to check the weather before you leave on weather.com and call the Palazzo to see if the pool and hot tub will be open.

Hmmm. I've stayed at VP comped 4 or 5 times and have never had to pay a resort fee on a comp'd room. They sometimes charge the fee despite the comp? grr.

I've never been charged for the "smart plan" which I think is essentially their resort fee. I've been offered every time, but turned it down. You can get wifi on the casino floor through their portal by entering your email and if you're staying there, they have it already!

Palazzo is our home base, so ask away. 900 wing, even, high is what to ask for. Dining options are superb: breakfast at Morels or Bouchon, dinner at Delmonico or Morels. The best cocktail service is in the banks of machines between Grand Lux and the elevators. Grimaldi's has great pizza and it's easy to drop down, pick it up and take it back to your room. For that matter, Palazzo room service is very good. Nice menu, prompt service and hefty portions.

Visit the Canal Level and pick up Godiva chocolates for the missus.

Stay away from Buddy V's for all that is holy. Other food recs are Table 10. Cut, Tao, and Yardbird.
