I don't know if anyone else ever noticed this..
but both Tunica, Biloxi, and New Orleans CET properties...if you look AT ALL young, you must show ID to get in the casino...also in any printed ad/sign about casinos, in HUGE letters are the bottom it says "GAMBLING PROBLEM? CALL..."

NO WHERE in Nevada have I ever seen age verification that strict, nor gamblers anonymous ads.. interesting that it's a STATE thing, rather than company policy (I actually asked)
My response/thought is...NONE of the other states depend on gambling as the main source of revenue, where without it, Nevada would just be a tumbleweed.

I think those warnings are there as compromises to the anti and moderate factions. In other words, we'll vote yes for gambling but you have to have a hotline for gambling addicts and you have to keep out the under-age folks. The pro-gambling faction doesn't fight that!

They are very different than LV. In Mississippi, minors are not allowed to even walk through a casino to get to a restaurant.

I agree with this policy 100%, why anyone would bring kids to an adult casino is beyond me. Seems like such a buzz kill for both the parents and kids

I'm over 40 and am always carded when in Tunica, New Orleans or Biloxi. My husband however who is 10 years younger NEVER is id'd at the same time. I always thought it was a conspiracy to get the older women to feel good and young and want to stay

    Chu'rens thru the gaming....hmmmm.

For reasons I don't understand, I always see kids (just being brutally honest...mostly asian) being hauled through the gaming area of the SHR in Tampa. As I understand it, the joint is actually a 'destination' for the asian folk, who see it as very much a vacation destination. I know they have concerts / shows at the HR, so I'm not sure if you necessarily have to be twenty-one to attend - or dine at the HRCafe. I have, however, seen families dining at the HRCafe.

I know for fact in Tunica and Biloxi you can bring your kid through the casino floor to get to a restaurant the security guards put wrist bands so they identify them as under age.

New Orleans absolutely no kids on the casino floor, can't even go though to get to a restaurants. No one under 21 at all

From personal experience - maybe 20 times in Tunica and Biloxi - minors are allowed to walk through the casino (with adult escort) to restaurants, and even to showrooms if the show allows underage.

New Orleans is very tight. They actually have fancy ID checkers where they put our license.

Also, they only younger folks - being 50+ I have never, ever had to show my id to enter.

ive seen kids walking inside of harrahs gulf coast with their parents and no wristbands and they went to the buffet, meanwhile im getting carded, also been in shake shack while kids were in there...last trip I was playing a slot with my girl, we were on this machine almost 2 hours, the door greeter walked about 40ft into the casino and ask for my ID, I gave him my ID with 7* card, he said, sorry sir but my boss made me check you, my girl and her friend got a laugh out of it

new orleans no kids at all (But soon they may be able to, they are in talks of opening the 2nd floor with a resturant, a kids area accessed from outside, not through the 1st floor and not sure what else) you heard it first

usually I know a bunch of the door people so I rarely get carded, when they do which is rare, i throw the 7* card with the ID and it speeds things up and they usually just check the card but dont do the swipe, black light and scan machine...the difference is once your in, you are good. vegas they will card you at the table...i got carded in vegas at CP, the dealer who carded me left, her replacement came in and carded me too

as for the gambling hotline, let this be a warning, you can call on yourself and you can call on someone else...if you submit yourself to that hotline, they will blacklist you from the casino and can arrest you for trespassing if you try to enter

No one wants to take a chance on fines etc. I do the same at my place for alcohol and tobacco. 2 locals here, Horseshoe and md live, you must show I'd before entering no matter what.

CET has also been fined for underage gambling a few times

I think that is the difference between vegas and the other casinos is that you will find kids walking around the general areas of the casinos (on the main walkways) in vegas while in the other casinos they don't allow kids near the casino floor without an adult walking them through.

As for age, actually in vegas I do see some young people getting carded in the casinos. I saw one young girl, she kept her ID out on a neck chain because she got carded every time she played at the tables or machines. She is Asian and to me could pass as a 14 year older girl although she was 22. I think vegas security will check on youngsters if they don't look 21 and are playing on the tables or machines.

In many states the salesperson (not the store) is responsible for all fines if they are caught selling liquor or smokes to a minor. That's why some people make it a habit to ask for ID even for people who look older. They want to make sure that they don't get fined. I did see a sting in Honolulu once. The kid was underage but he had a full on beard so he looked older. I saw them outside and I went inside the store to see them catch a clerk for selling to a minor. I didn't think it was fair that they would entrap a sales clerk with someone looking like an adult but I guess that's why some people ask for ID no matter what.

In DC it used to be like that but now the store gets fined and each offense, the fine goes up until they take away your liscense to sell.

I was under the impression age verification was the norm outside of Vegas as well as the problem gambling line. In Illinois and Indiana, minors are not allowed in any area defined as part of the casino and there have been times when the casino was considered the gaming floor and all restaurants at a couple casinos in Illinois.

I think technically the store receives the fine and could lose their license if it continues but for many stores they tell the employee that they will be responsible for the fine if they are caught selling to a minor. This puts the responsibility on the employee and forces the employee to make sure that they don't sell to minors, otherwise they end up with a smaller paycheck and could get fired for multiple infractions.

Funny story about Harrah's new Orleans. My wife and i walked in there a couple of times while on vacation. Once, the ID scanning machine wasn't working, so the lady at the security desk stared at my wife's ID and pulled out a big book of international driver's license exemplars. She kept flipping between like Haiti and Japan until until i said "maybe it's under 'America' or 'USA'". She returned our Hawaii driver's licenses and we proceeded to lose money.

I remember in the late 90s (when they weren't nearly as strict) carding someone with a beard that I questioned carding at first. He was 6 months over 21. But also twice I carded women over 40. One was thrilled, the other actually was a bit annoyed.

I think it generally is. But I tend to overlook signs about these things.

I get "carded" at many non-Vegas casinos at 36. Hell usually once or twice in Vegas because I often order at the bar. It also is property dependent. Re: Tunica, I almost always get carded at Gold Strike. Mostly at Horseshoe. Others are maybe 25%. Fines are not cheap if they get caught. They can push into the 6 digits depending on the offense. Locally, Ameristar St. Charles had such a carding streak on me, I started having my ID out walking toward the optical turnstiles.
