The Trip That Almost Wasn't

Just arrived and enjoying my first drink on the Cosmo terrace. Nothing feels more Vegas than enjoying the strip lit up for the night!

Have a great time and totally agree! I stayed at Cosmo for 3 nights if my G2E trip and it was by the far the best view I've had in Vegas. I was on 69th floor of the East Tower overlooking the fountains. Win some money!

Not much to report..... lots of walking, gambling and refreshing beverages. It is hot; kind of missing the fall weather at home; pretty sure I'll feel differently in January. No big wins

Went to the comedy club at Tropicana last night. It was sold out; Trop was the busiest I've seen it and the Beach Cafe was sold out of the turkey dinner . No Canadian Thanksgiving turkey for us.

Going to head to the Palms this afternoon. Maybe our luck will improve off strip.

This trip almost didn't happen. 10 days before departure, my 48 year old "little brother" suddenly collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. At the hospital, he went into cardiac arrest and was resuscitated. He was in a coma and on life support, including continuous dialysis. He is autistic, our parents are deceased. It looked pretty grim but he started to improve, came off dialysis last Sunday, the breathing tube was removed last week and he now has an oxygen mask. He came out of the coma last Thursday. His improvement has been miraculous!

Last night at Trop bar was a blast; VP became a team sport . I was sitting beside a fun guy and we were cheering each other on. At some point we decided tossing out clichés made the machines pay. We used every one we could think of. At one point when I had a pair of deuces and was about to draw, I said "two wrongs don't make a right" and he immediately added "but 40 do". You had to be there. It has become the catch phrase for the trip, that and "girls are smarter" because whenever he decided what to keep and what to toss, if there was a Queen in his hand, he kept the Queen and recited "girls are smarter".

After he had a few drinks in him, he tried to get a little handsy and I said "whoa, settle down there”. He apologized and behaved after so no harm done.

Spent the afternoon at Palms playing VP and catching up with our bartender buddies. I couldn't catch a quad and had a couple of those nasty 4-card Royals. At least they weren't the "one jack off 4-card Royal I usually get.



I am loving Uber; doubtful I'd ever take a cab in Vegas again.

Played this evening at Cosmo, slotting around. I like the new Cher machine; it plays like the MJ machine.

My friend is at Ballys having a nap and I'm enjoying the terrace; last night at Cosmo; moving to Palms tomorrow . About time to get ready for dinner.

 

Who was the bastard at Palms that stole your Royal? That progressive was low!

Interested to see how the Palms VP and slots changed after Stations took over. Also how are the drink comps there now? They used to be great.

 

Love those 4 deuces and threes playing DDB even without the kicker. Great view from the terrace. Wife and I were in Niagara Falls Ontario last week. Weather was great so I know what you mean. Hope you keep hitting jackpots. Keep the machines hot for when I get there Sunday.

 

No light or ticket system at Palms.
