We've been staying at MSS and GN the last few years and are thinking about trying something different.
I've read that the DT Grand supplies earplugs.

Is it really that noisy? Two trips ago we had an early flight home and tried to go to bed at 10 pm in the Nugget. We couldn't fall asleep until around 1 AM when the band on Fremont stopped playing. We should have gotten dressed again and went back downstairs.

    Thanks,

    Mike

I stayed there in August, in the tower furthest from Fremont/closest to Mob Museum. Noise was not an issue at all, except for the trash truck at 5am on Monday.

I think they are getting a bad rap from supplying ear plugs. Any noise from Fremont is not an issue. Hogs and Heifers can be loud, but there are plenty of rooms to avoid that. They don't have a dedicated band stage near them. My only complaint on noise is that they didn't improve the window insulation during the renovation. So maybe some wind noise and occasional emergency vehicle on the streets. Just like every hotel you have door bangers, neighbors, plumbing sounds, but band noise is my deal killer; haven't had that there.

Stayed in one on the Hog's and Heffer's side, was loud until midnight or later. Just pack a fan and you'll be fine, ask for a room in the back side.

Very quiet when I stayed there last year. I was in the tower across the street.

We've stayed there four times and will be there again next week. Main tower, east side or west tower, west side are generally quiet. The exception is that the main tower east side can noise from the Gold Spike on weekends. They have loud music until sometime in the am, but it's a block away.

With all the AC money they loose through the windows, don't understand why the windows on most LV hotels are not of better quality. They could even add a storm window which would save the cost of tearing them out.
Noise is a deal killer for me too. Only thing more important is cleanliness in my book. Price is right up there too of course.

We were there Saturday and Sunday nights in mid June. Stayed on the 15th floor in the Grand Tower. Didn't hear any noise.

The room was very clean and had a lot of room to spread out with your belongings.

I've stayed there twice, stated on a high floor away from Hogs and Heffers but was still awoken late night to a base thump. Couldn't make out the music or where it was coming from, but it was there for sure. Didn't keep me up, but did find the ear plugs the next morning on the bedside table.

I have started at DT Grand a few times.

Only time there was a noise issue was the room overlooking Hogs And Heiffers. Motorcycles leaving late in the night were loud.

Other times I have stayed noise not an issue at all when I stayed in tower across street from casino and room over looking over valley side.

We stayed there a couple of weeks ago. Noise was not an issue for us.

We were on the "quiet side" (parking garage view) in May; I used the ear plugs only because Dad snores! I can sleep though just about anything out on the street...

I have stayed there twice. The first visit I was on a fairly low floor, at the northeast corner of the main building. There was loud music noise from somewhere (I couldn't see anything out the window) until around 2:00 am the first two nights. Last two nights, nothing...

The 2nd trip i was in a medium high floor on the tower across the street from the casino and heard not a peep. Our window faced west that trip...

Just got back Friday from three nights at the DTG. I think it's our fifth stay there. Our room faced east in the main tower. It was quiet except for Thursday night. You can hear the music from the Gold Spike (Thursday - Saturday) until about 2 am. The quietest rooms are the west facing ones in the west tower. Anything facing 3rd Street will be noisy because of Hogs and Heifers.

Getting a quiet room could be a workout. Since we've stayed there a few times we know what to ask for and had requested a quiet room in our reservation, which we made directly with the hotel. When we checked in Tuesday at about 7:30 pm I reiterated it and was assured that our room was on the back side of the west tower. Not so. It faced 3rd Street, almost above Hogs and Heifers.

Another trip to the desk and I was told by a different clerk that due to high occupancy (really, Tuesday? Didn't look too busy) the only rooms on the quiet sides were upgrades (Premium rooms) that they'd let us have for "only" $20 extra a night vs. the usual $40. I use quotation marks because I know from their online site that $20 is the normal upgrade price.

I don't like starting vacations in a bad mood, so I played dumb and said fine. Signed the new check-in with the higher charge and off we went. Got to the room and found ourselves looking right down at Hogs and Heifers. Returned to the desk once more. Same guy plays embarrassed and says "my bad" and reassigns us to yet another room, this one a Premium room on the 16th floor of the main tower looking east. It was fine other than some noise from the Gold Spike Thursday night.

I have no idea what was going on. The guy who handled us upon our first and second returns said he's worked there since the reopening, so I'm sure he knows which rooms are where. No doubt he was patting himself on the back for the upsell, but I don't know the reason for his first screw-up.
