My Fiancé and I will be getting married next year and will be staying at the Bellagio. We are having are wedding at the Aria but will be coming back with some family and friends to our suite at Bellagio. My question is what's the tolerance on bringing outside things in the hotel. I would want to bring up 2-3 12 packs of soda, a case of beer, chips, and a few platters were getting from whole foods. I would like to valet and get a luggage rack to bring up stuff. Will they be giving me bad looks by doing this? Is there any chance of getting a bellboy and tipping him nice to bring it up? That may be asking a lot but I have never brought in outside things when staying in Vegas so I'm clueless. I know they want you to purchase their products but we all know what that would cost. Thanks for any advice!
Folks bring drinks/soda/beer to rooms all the time, even via the bell service. Almost all hotels have rules against this, but nobody bothers you. Bringing food trays... might be pushing it. Some others will come along, but guessing you would be okay. Maybe have them put the platters in a big cake box to be less obvious?
The first thing to come to mind is how Andy Dufresne smuggled the concrete/rock out of Shawshank. Maybe it would work for the way in. A little bit down the pants leg each trip... On second thought, you might draw too much attention with so many trips in and out. Also, the platters wouldn't fit too well unless you had MC Hammer's pants or extremely large Zubaz... My attempt at a serious answer: I would imagine if your wedding party and/or other friends wouldn't mind carrying something that you could get things to your suite... Not sure about chances of help from the bell staff on this one. But, money talks so maybe someone will listen! On our recent trip I saw people carrying all sorts of large and crazy things to and from their rooms in the Spa Tower via the tram entrance. RICHARD
I always bring in cases of beer and walk through whichever Casino I am at and never have an issue. You'll be fine.
Tip well and don't bring anything that will spill. Don't be too obvious with prepared food, maybe put it in a cardboard box.
Totally agree on this. All hotels say no, but people often do. Platters, especially at Bellagio, might get attention though, as weddings/group food is a good money maker for them. I'd go buy a couple of cheap, nice duffle bags that you can pop the trays into. They're long and deep, so you can discretely stack the platters. And they take NO room in luggage when empty PS CONGRATULATIONS and have an amazing wedding, followed by many, many amazing years!
Valet and the bell service is the way to go. While you're at Whole Foods, ask for some boxes, you can load a lot of stuff into them, makes it easier for the bell and you to handle. For platters, it might be difficult, depends on how big they are. Those are the things you really want to hide. If you can find a box to fit, try to get the top too. Don't get too fussy, stack 'em in there. Banana box maybe. Lay a paper bag over the top of the pile - banana boxes have big holes in the tops.
Ive seen people come back from the market in an uber and have the bell guy load up their groceries to take up to the room. Ive seen people bringing all kinds of drinks and food in hand straight up to the room. Nobody even looks twice. Just tip the bell guy well and they will take anything up to your room, its you wedding for gods sake.
Prisoners smuggle pistols into maximum security prisons. might be uncomforatble but how bad do you want it?
Not a problem. Just give them a nice tip if you are having them haul your alcohol up. No need to disguise it.
One issue I have heard is bringing in coolers. I've never brought coolers but I've had bellman tell me that they will not bring those up due to having issues with leakage in the past.
Thanks for all the great replies! So, valet and bell service, tip well, cover up if possible, and no coolers. Got it. The only issue I see as a couple posters mentioned would be with the platters. The fiancé wants a couple shrimp/sushi platters and something else. Only thing is I need to keep those things as upright as possible, so that may be tricky. But encouraging words everyone. Thanks!
Last year my wife messed up her ankle, so I had a wheelchair. I signed up to Von's for free delivery and had a case of water, beer and a handle of vodka delivered with mixers. went out front loaded on the chair and wheeled them in no problem.
As mentioned, just put this in a box, or cover with black plastic bag and carry them to the room. AND - a good use of that black plastic bag is to put the leftovers in and SEAL it up good so your room and the hallway do not stink.
When the bell hop brings the cart to load up the luggage and stuff, slip them a nice tip and they will do it with a smile. Or dump all your clothes into large garbage bags and store the food and stuff in the luggage. When they question the bags just show them its your clothing as you ran out of luggage.
