NYNY what do I need to know?

Heading out to NYNY next month and staying on a fall corporate offer. Marquis suite comped three nights with $250 F/B credit. Normally stay at MGM or MB/Delano and book through a host but wanted to stay somewhere new and I have some business meetings off the strip and wanted quick access to the freeway. I'll have plenty of time to gamble in the afternoons and evenings. I mostly play Pai Gow Poker or Craps with a little Baccarat at an average of $200-$300/hand. 3-8 hours per day.

Couple questions:
1. I've read on this board that while you need to play on corporate offers the expectation is not the same as booking through a host. I plan on giving my normal play just wondering if this is still true or if others have had a different experience?

2. Marquis suite- Anyone stayed in one? How is it? How does it compare to an Executive suite at MGM, Great room suite at MB or a suite at Delano? Anything I need to know? Likes/Dislikes?

3. Restaurants- Any recommendations? I've read posts about Gallagher's being an underrated steakhouse. I'll try it out. How does it compare to Tender at Luxor or Stripsteak/Craftsteak at MB/MGM? Any other good eats at NYNY, breakfast recommendations?

4. Lounges/Bars- I don't drink heavily at the tables while I gamble, but I do enjoy hanging out in the casino atmosphere with a couple drinks after the gambling is done. I'm not into the club scene, too old for that. Any recommendations? I've read about the dueling piano's, any other place with a live band or lounge like Skyfall(Mix), Foundation Room, or Whiskey Down?

5. Gaming Conditions- How's the pit critters? Friendly or do they sweat the $? Dealers fun or boring? Any good action in the high limit room? Any recommendations for lucky slot machines? I like to run some free play through high limit slots.

6. Platinum benefits- Any unlisted platinum benefits at NYNY? When I booked they said i could check in at VIP check in. Any other benefits not usually listed on platinum experience?

7. Resort credit- Anyone know if the resort credit is good at other properties? I usually don't leave the property I'm staying in and just gamble there as I've done all the touristy stuff.

8.Resort-Anything else? Long hallways? Slow elevators? Good/poor security? Strong/weak drinks? Favorite bartenders or pit crews?

Stay clear of the HL VP...I had to laugh at the bank on the ledge facing the casino had 7/5 Dbl Bonus. Talk about insulting. NYNY is what I would classify as a tourist hotel. Nothing more nothing less. You're better off sleeping there and playing at Aria.

 

i've never stayed there but in terms of bar/lounge, i really like NYNY bar at times square. always a great time there.

 

Had our anniversary dinner at Gallagher's back in May and it was really, really good. Food and service were on point. I haven't eaten at the others you mentioned so can't compare, but I'd go back without hesitating.

 

It is the hotel I stayed in on my first trip to Vegas a couple of years ago and I thought it was fantastic. Something for everyone. Ate at the Chinese (can't remember the name) and food was great and big portions. The America restaurant is great too as ate there a few times for dinner and breakfast. Then there are all the other stalls selling food like pizza etc.
plenty places to drink too with casual bars, piano bars and Irish pub(although I didn't go into that)

I thought it was a great hotel overall and got used to the layout very quickly and don't recall any long waits for the elevators.

 

Nine Fine Irishmen. Get the myvegas 2 for 1 reward. They give you like a $35 comp to get whatever you want in there. Cool bar and good food. I stop there everytime I am in town with that deal.

 

I like these eateries at NYNY which are all good stuff. The Shake Shack (Burger), Gonzalez Y Gonzalez (enchiladas), and in the Village eateries New York Sandwiches and New York Hot Dog (Coney Island Dog).

 

Thanks for the advice, shake shack been meaning to try that place I just never get there. 2-1 nine five Irishmen got the reward, I'll do Gallagher's and check out the Chinese place also.

 

Greenburgs Deli is also a decent place for a sandwich and matzaball soup.

 

Some of the hallways are really long. Some are tiny. NYNY is a weirdly shaped hotel, which leads to the hallways having lots of turns.

One time I was in a room at the very end of the hall and it was a looooong walk. I actually made a video of it for a trip report.



Personally, I prefer the New Yorker elevator bank over the Century one. I find the New Yorker elevators to be less crowded.

Good grief! Make sure you don't forget anything before you leave the room, and it must be a hassle to get ice!

RE: #3 El Fornio has AWESOME Eggs Benedict. #5 about 2 years ago I was playing blackjack at $5 a hand (Might have been $10) and the dealer pointed me in the direction of the 3/2 tables. Thought that was nice of him. #7 I'm 90% sure you can charge meals from other MGM properties to your room and can be taken off with resort credits at check out. Just ask at the M Life booth as you have to go there to activate free play anyway. I really like NYNY...except the pool area is not a favorite. The pool is NOT a reason to stay but that said I'm returning in 6 sleeps with a free 2 night stay (FRI and SAT!!) $100 free play and $100 resort credits . Well...I'm gonna try to sleep LOL. I'm barely a Pearl member.

 

I've stayed in both the Marquis Suite and the Delano Suite. The Marquis is not really a Suite. It is a large room with a bed on one side and a tv wall unit separating the sitting area in the room on the other side. I suggest that if a true Suite is important to you that you call back and request a one bedroom suite. (Those have the old furniture from The Hotel in them and are true suites). Gallaghers is great. The pizza shop is very good and if you like sweets the homemade pop tart at Tom's Urban in delish!
