I am a regular guy, take my shirt off at the end of the day and see some extra pounds. I am not alone.

It does not matter who you are, when you walk in front of that mirror, you will see some things you dont like and feel bad about.

Now in vegas they have an odd amount of mirrors in every casino. wal to wal in the room, at the end of the hall, by the elevator, all over the place.

Whats with that? I like to see myself as much as the next guy but it does seem a bit overkill.

Lets think about it from a casinos perspective. Have lots of mirrors everywhere, just to get under the skin that little bit. i sit at a slot and win a bit, lights flash and i feel good . Maybe a cocktail. have a few, play a few more slots, get some more lights, feel good. even if I am down i still feel ok.

Just an observation. might be paranoid but just because you are it doesnt mean they arent out to get you.

In the high limit room toilet at Harrahs, there's a single toilet with wall to wall mirrors behind it.

nothing like watching yourself P....and by the way, they do not make images appear
    larger than they are.

Which specific casinos have that many mirrors?

I think casinos capitalize on people who want to do something without really doing anything at all.

Every time the wife and I think of other destinations, a big question is 'but what would we do there?'

I can't remember where I was in Vegas. The Bellagio maybe. And I thought Jesus they have a of mirrors I don't need to look at my fat ass that much.

Anyhow. Was in a little local sandwich shop having lunch and a few beers. This was their mirror in the shared bathroom. Beauty.

I always assumed it was to have more angles to keep an eye out for potential crime/shenanigans

There could be two reasons for the high number of mirrors in casinos:
    1) Rooms are perceived to be larger when there are many mirrors in them.
    2) Studies have shown that people are more honest and less inclined to cheat when they have to look at themselves in the mirror.

Mirrors can give the illusion of space. No casino boss would ever wish the perception of a tiny casino! :) Also notice the use of mirrors and reflections in many of the photos of the hotel rooms. Again, illusions of space. I know I've mentioned the use of short lenses when photographing interiors, such as hotel rooms, which emphasize said illusion of space.

I'd have thought that the vast majority of people see themselves as 'above average' in attractiveness and would welcome a mirror or two! Now, statistically that can't be true of course...

This is so true. Just look at all the mirrors on every wall inside Casino Royale!!! Seems much larger than it actually is.

Vegas is a 'going out' destination. Constant dressing for the pool or the club or dinner or just to hit the casino or to hit the bar. People that are dressing up want to check on their 'look'. It's not like you're spending the day home just sitting around the house in your sweat pants and a t-shirt. I'm sure all of the mirrors get a lot of use. Personally, I don't give a sh*t what anyone else thinks I look like but I do see a lot of young women that do.

Never thought about it before. I mostly just go by the mirrors and make silly faces at myself. Honestly.

This is probably one of the reasons, aside with the others mentioning perception of larger space, etc.

When I see mirrors all over the place I always remember my mom telling me as a little kid to behave unless the "man behind the mirror" comes out and scolds me for being naughty. This was when we were in department stores long, long ago.

So now when I'm down in the casino and I pass a mirror or two, I'll stop and make a silly, shit-faced grin.:goofy: You know, just in case the man in the mirror is watching. Should make his day, I think....

I look at a mirror and see a good thing. I may see something I dont like but i dont feel bad about it. I guess it is all perspective.

If one deems powerless in ones life bc one dont do much about it, you see or feel bad for same things another one feels or sees good that one may consider a work in progress which I see everything as w me.

I think casino's want to build self esteem. Higher self esteem = more confidence = more betting (or more spending)

40M visitors coming to Vegas sitting in their room thinking they're a fat looser can't be good for business (except for room service:feedme: )

could be a marketing ploy.. grocery stores play soft slower music to slow you down and make you stay longer.. fast food plays faster music to make you hurry up and get out the door and to speed up employee production.. putting the essentials like milk in the back of the store.. lots of psychology goes into marketing.. not sure if it is always accurate but its fun to think about

Now that's an interesting observation. Cindy and I have commented how there aren't a lot of mirrors or clocks. The clocks, because it's Vegas. The mirrors...we're assuming a shortage because we don't want to see ourselves. I'm going to have to really pay attention next time I'm out there...because other than behind the bars, or just outside the elevators, I honestly don't recall seeing a lot - or any that I can recall - mirrors. It's possible that I just never paid attention.

Another interesting thing to look for is how many casino have trees in them. you would think that other then the bellagio conservatory that the answer would be no but this is not so. many of them have trees.

Actually, i was just like Micheal Douglas in "Last Vegas", although not as old.
I used to have no problem with mirrors, would always make sure i was looking pretty good on my way out. When i exited my room and went on that elevator back down to the casino, mirrors where my best friend.
However, when i had my stroke in 2011, i finally realized that my age finally caught up with me.
Then in 2016 i had to have Open Heart surgery. When i look in the mirror at home now i see a skinny, less mobile older man that cannot do the things that i always took for granted.

However, when i hopefully re-enter the promised land in November or Spring in '17, the first thing i will do is look at myself in a mirror, even though i've been through hell, and looking like nothing that i have seen before, i will look in that mirror and see a person who is thankful to just be alive, be in Vegas, and once again experience the non-working escalators at Bally's.....:D

I remember disliking the Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars Palace because it seemed the music they played there made you feel like you want to get up and get the hell out of there as fast as you can. It definitely didn't make me feel relaxed and want to linger.....
