Hard Rock Advice

I'm heading out to Vegas in a few weeks arriving early on a Wednesday and leaving on a red eye flight late Saturday/early Sunday. I received a mailer from the Hard Rock today that could comp the Wednesday and Thursday and has $25 slot play and $200 resort credit. I'm booked at Wynn starting on Thursday on a different offer so I would overlap one night. The current Wednesday is a Mirage room from MyVegas.

I only gambled once at the HR and that was for an hour and a half before going to the airport so I'm not familiar with the property.

Questions:
1.How are the food options at HR? The resort credit would probably only be used for food and the fine print says NOBU, pizza forte and culinary dropout are excluded. I'm solo for the stay and the other resort credit options would not be used most likely. The other options are the spa (no interest), drinks at center bar (will be getting drinks while gambling) and show tickets (no events on my dates).

2. I'm assuming the room would be the cheapest room, are the basic rooms decent? I only need a clean room that is fairly quiet during normal Vegas sleeping hours (4AM-10AM).

3. How are the table limits? Any chance of a $5 craps table during the week? Are the tables open 24 hours?

4. I have never overlapped on offers before, is there a way to check out from the HR without physically going to the desk? The offer has a minimum two night stay requirement and I will be moving to the Wynn Thursday evening. Would I have to go back to the HR on Friday for check-out or is there another option (phone call, email, just do nothing and assume they check me out)?

 

Wow I did not know that those restaurants are excluded from the resort credit.. I have only used room service at hard rock (sheer laziness) so I cannot comment on their restaurants.

The Casino Tower basic rooms are not that great. I would get an HRH room if possible.

I mostly play bacc so I'm not sure on the craps tables but I know that if it is slow and there are very little players, you can ask and the pit boss may allow you to play lower than the table minimum.

Phone call will be fine. One time I was in a hurry and just left without checking out lol and they checked out for me

 

nubo and pizza is always excluded surprise cularny is. my suggestion is the steak house.i find the chinese to be over priced .luckys is fine.yes the tables are 24 hours so are the hookers.

1. The food options are very good. I am not surprised that Nobu is excluded - it is in a higher Stratosphere than the other places. Pizza Forte is nothing special but might hit the spot at 3:00 AM. I am surprised that Culinary Dropout is excluded. I think the food and cocktails at CD are very well done. Do not let the fact that the dining credit may not apply there keep you from eating there.

The Chinese place, Fu, is very decent and will deliver to your room. I love the Pink Taco (which as pool-side seating). 35 Steaks + Martinis is very nice as well. The last time I was there I just had drinks and dessert in the bar area. Mr. Lucky's is decent. Goose Island Pub is new since I have last been there so I cannot comment.

Overall, the restaurant line-up is very strong at HRH. If you are solo I recommend bar seating at Pink Taco.


2. The basic rooms are decent. The casino towers rooms are spacious and the beds are comfy. The bathrooms are not great. Be sure to get a pool view room. One of the nice things about the Casino tower is that the french doors open all the way up for open air access outside. The Paradise tower rooms are better but a much longer walk from the casino; the Casino tower drops you down right in the middle of the action. The HRH tower is the best with big suites. If you just end up with the Casino tower rooms you'll be fine.

Also - don't assume that the room will necessarily be the cheapest room. Ask when you call.


3. Craps table limits should be good. I assume you can get $5 in the middle of the week but not sure. Definitely open 24-hours. The blackjack rules on the main floor sucked hard the last time I was there (no 3:2!) so I ended up playing in the HL lounge. I think that has eased up a bit but someone else would have to verify. The craps dealers are all very good.


4. Yes, you'll be able to check out with a call or electronically, assuming you don't want to talk to a host for any comps before checking out. Easy peasy.

There is a CVS right across the street to the east, and a new liquor store across the street to the south. Club Paradise is also open across the street as well if you are into that sort of thing.

Holy Toledo... it appears that I have lost my crown, as VMB's Chief Hard Rock information source! Very solid response!!!!

 

Had a great time at hard rock last August.

Kind of sucks you can't use the resort credit at culinary dropout, but mr. Luckys is a decent breakfast and lunch spot, the coffee place is good for your daily caffeine fix, and I think the pool complex is one of the best in Vegas.

I'd be surprised if you couldn't get at least a paradise tower room with that offer, especially mid week.

 

Thanks everyone for comments and suggestions. I ended up booking in the paradise tower, king room with a pool view. The choice given by the agent was between casino or paradise tower. Good to know a CVS is close if needed. Never heard of club paradise so I googled the place. No interest in it but thanks for the complete answer.

I know some people on here ask about resort fees on comped rooms so I'll share the information. The agent told me the resort fees were $63 and change for the two comped nights. A card with at least $153 and change in credit will be needed to check in.

 

You will be happy with the quality of the room in the Paradise tower. That CVS has fairly decent prices on alcohol if you are picking anything up during the trip.

Thanks for the note on the resort fees. When I last stayed in a comped room at the Hard Rock the resort fees were waived.

 

I booked the same offers. I see it as a new way to collect what the cost to operate would be. Food overhead should be low so between gambling and resort fees everything will probably be covered on their side. Not a bad marketing offer though. I've had minimal play there and is an enticing offer. Saw the Diceman there once.

 

basicaly they been selling rooms at 40$ a nite so they get there room coverd anyway buy u resort fee and u get they free food or what ever and they hope u gamble so its a win for them, they are strugling over there. ps there a dispensary. down the block and alot of others food and stores have oppend up across the street.

 

So here's a question as I just checked on my comps at HRH and have to wonder in regards to what is being discussed with the cost.

Last year when I booked online for my 2 visits that were comped for a Paradise King or Queen room I was not charged any resort fees or taxes online or when I arrived for the room for 3 nights. Right now for a comped Paradise King room 11/6 to 11/9 total cost is $0 also. I took this date as a random check to see if things have changed

I would only get $20 in play with nothing else with it as I am a low roller.

So would you be able to cancel and re-book online so that you would be able to bypass the fees? Or does your mailer require you to call in? I also get the mailer every 3 months and just do it online with my Backstage Pass # to book as all of the comps show up on there matching the flyer in regards to the comped nights.

Just a thought.

 

Stayed at the HR for the first time in June. As far as food, Mr. Lucky's is a very good coffee shop; Pink Taco is good, used to be great.

I got a basic room comped for 3 nights, and they don't charge a resort fee on the comped rooms! (big improvement from the Strip).

I stayed Sun - Wed, found some $5 craps tables in the morning, but they quickly changed to $10. Overall, the craps tables were pretty dead most of the time. Even at night, 2 were open, but only 1 was busy.

 

kps: I checked online prior to booking and did not see this offer. Actually the online system would comp Wednesday but not Thursday for some reason, I didn't check the resort fees. The only offers I had online were $20 in food credit and $20 free play after minimal slot play.

For anyone who has been to the steakhouse, would you recommend a reservation for a solo traveler or should I be able to walk in without a reservation on a Wednesday or Thursday? Doesn't matter if it is a table or bar area as long as they serve the full menu.

Agree with paperposter... you'll have no problems going solo, especially during the week.

I returned today from my trip and thought I would give an update for this thread and the other thread about bad customer service.

The bad: I did not get a room until around 4 PM. I arrived around 12:30 and was told they would call me when a room was available or I could pay to upgrade. I declined and went to gamble. I waited until past check in time (3 PM) and then went back to the front desk. The agent told me a room still was not ready and I would have to wait, upgrade or stay in the casino tower. I asked him to please check again as the guest at the next station was just given a room in the paradise tower, after some typing I was given my room keys. I'm not sure what happened or if the agent was just trying to push an upgrade.

The good: Pretty much everything else went well on my stay. The room was clean and quiet. Craps was always $10. Drink service on the floor was not great but excellent at center bar.

The food: I ate twice on property. Once was the gambler's special at Mr. Lucky's late at night. Nothing spectacular but filled the late night hunger void. The second was at 35 steaks and martinis. Being that I had comp to use my order included: wedge salad, Kansas City strip steak oscar style, sticky pig and an after dinner iced coffee. The bill was around $135 with tip. While not the best meal I have ever had it was definitely a meal worth having on a special occasion. The service was excellent as well but there was only one other non-bar patron there when I arrived so that may be correlated.

Overall verdict: I enjoyed my stay and would come back if comped, not sure I would pay to stay if other options are available. The location wasn't an issue as you can cheaply ride share to the strip.

45 Steaks and Martini's is outstanding.

The lowest I've seen the craps tables is either $10 or $15. I don't reacll a $5 table in the morning when I played, but I could be mistaken.

Luckys is good.

30% of 45 Steaks and Martinis with a Tix 4 Tonight coupon, and a late night gambler's special at Lucky's. Ask for the 777 special , which costs $7.77. 45 Steaks has both wet and dry aged beef, and a bone in filet. Their NY strip is very good.

The Hard Rock used to be my go to place, and I still have tons of comped rooms there. The Casino Tower actually has a window you can open, where the Paradise and HRH Towers do not unless you get a suite. And their suites are very, very nice. I got a mid week comped suite with a bowling lane one time.

Shuttle runs out of the HRH Tower parking garage to the Fashion Mall, and if you play enough, they'll shuttle you around without waiting for their scheduled shuttles. They let us use their van one year.

I've always enjoyed the HR. I just don't play large enough for them in recent years it appears, and I was badly mistreated at craps one time, which really impacted my offers.
