I've read where people had their hosts arrange to have their drink of choice delivered to their room upon check-in. Is this something you ask to be done on a comp? Does the host just know what you like and does it? Or are you ordering room service in advance and paying?
I have a comp'd room at Mandalay mid Oct with Gold expiring 9/30.

    Thanks!

    No.
No. Unless you are a whale or have an exceptional relationship with your host.
No. You have to have a room number first before you order room service.

If your drink of choice is common, i.e., bottled water, then your chance of success
will be much higher, but still way below 50%.
There is a mini-bar in the room. you can take whatever inside and pay for it. That's the easiest.

Hosts can arrange it because they can get a specific room designated the day before you arrive. So they can arrange for housekeeping to notify room service once the room has been reset, and have something waiting when you arrive.

Sometimes hosts will send a generic setup, but if you've made a specific preference clear, they'll do that.

I don't think you could do it on a regular comp with no host, because your room normally isn't going to be assigned until you check in. You could maybe call the concierge and ask if it's doable.

If you know exactly what you want (and by exactly, I mean the exact item name as it appears on the room service menu), you could conceivably ask the front desk to order it for you to save a few minutes, not sure it's worth it.

My host arranges it for AFTER I've checked in and it's comped. She'll send a dozen or 6 pack of their house beer (Bud or Bud lights) she's recently switched to my Stella or Heineken , or one of those Sampler sets (mini bottles of vodka, rum, rye etc.) Only time I've had it IN the room upon arrival is when I'm staying in a special occasion suite where she knows I won't be moving from. However, you can always be bumped by bigger players. For the most part it arrives couple hours after check in, usually along with a plate of something, cheese/fruit or chocolate strawberries or something. (one thing I've found is to make sure you acknowledge your gift to your host because on occasion when I DON'T receive it and she has actually made arrangements to send it, she still gets charged for it, so if I don't have it in 24 hours I tell her).

It's Vegas. Free booze is so easy to come by that it seems such an unimportant perk to me.

I don't ask for it. She just sends it. And I think an acknowledgment is due when she does. On way in from the airport I usually get the driver to stop to pick up something for the room anyways, so I always have a cold one while checking in or freshening up after the flight to hit the floor. I'm female, and I like my Stella.

Actually, it is an awesome perk if you like to drink in your room - and many folks do. For me, it is important that my wife have a bottle of the wine in the room while I am out giving out he kids inheritance.

As to having it upon arrival... a bit difficult unless they assign your room in advance.

not for MGM but when I stay in vegas at CET, id just tell my host ahead of time, he would ask what I like and id tell him single barrel jack D and i know its a pepsi casino but i prefer coke...usually it would be in the room when I arrive, a few times it would come a lil bit after I checked in...I like whisky but most lounges only have the regular lower stuff, and the bars in the casinos charge if you're not playing so its nice to have in the room in case, the coke and water is just perfect for when i wake up...

and its always been a gift from the host, no taking off the points or charging to the room or room service, ect

Let me clarify my earlier post. Having something in the room is great, but no on arrival. We can not unpack and get the hell out of the room fast enough when we arrive. We want to hit the casino/bar ASAP. So, on arrival is no big deal for us.

I like a beer in the morning. While reading my online newspapers before I get up for the day. But I'm an older broad who likes her routine.

Ok, I got you. We are barely in our room. We drop off bags and run out. We come home at 3am and go to sleep. Up in morning, shower, out by 10. Repeat. So much to do that I didn't realize that people actually hung out in their rooms. Perks are perks, I guess. Take what you can! :licklips:
