Do you save your player cards, or just get new ones each trip? I have some old ones from different casinos, but I wish I would have saved more of them just to see how they have changed.I usually get new ones each trip, but still have a drawer full of old ones.

I try my best to hold on to all of my players cards, but sometimes a few get misplaced.

On one of my first trips out to Vegas, I picked up some Elvis One Total Rewards cards and continued to use them for a long time until I finally lost my last one. I always got a chuckle out of the dealer or pit boss looking at the card and trying to hand it back to me saying it wasn't one of their cards. I'd just smile and say turn it over. That usually got some comments from them about how old the card was. Now-a-days, I've got a Horseshoe Total Rewards card I picked in Tunica a few years back that I like to do the same thing with that to the pit critters. o_O

i wish i had asked for my old Ellis Island card back when they switched 'em up and i had to get a new one. i've held onto old/extinct cards. i don't have them in front of me, but i think i have cards for Westward Ho, Sahara, Stardust and Fitzgerald's. perhaps i have a Riviera card, too. my Hard Rock card is still in the Vegas wallet, and has the raised numbers and letters on it. that card hasn't seen use in more than 10 years.

fun fact: i don't have a few cards i probably should have picked up along the way, and i have never had an MLife card.

I don't collect them (LOL, other than forgetting to trash the old ones) :) but the one I REALLY would like to have as a momento was the OLD ORIGINAL Stardust card. It did not have a magnetic stripe on the back, but oblong holes punched in it like a mini punch card. It was the only one I ever remember seeing that way.

My MGM/Mirage card is silver. Think it's 14 years old. Still works.

I have a similar card from the "Five Star Slot Club" at the Fremont. It has the holes in it and my name in raised letters. I was player #571. This might be showing my age!
    Good luck. :beer::beer:

Funny thing about the Ellis Island card history. I had a very old card, and about 2 years ago, I made my first trip to Ellis Island in about 5 years, and was entertained when I found that the old card still worked. Eventually, I had to get a new one printed as my old one was starting to split. Just 6 months later, they switched to new tracking software, which required a totally new card! When I requested to keep the old card the slot club employee said that it was the first time that someone asked for it.

I tend to save the old cards, and one of my favorites is my old purple Rio card, with the punch holes in it (no magnetic strip). The cards used to be much more interesting when each property was independent. I have a nice Sunset Station card, and the old Sam's Town cards which have the "customer since 19XX" on them. Much more interesting than the current "BConnected" cards.

I nominate the Wynn Red Card as the worst current card. With every one of the cards of theirs I have, the gold lettering with your name rubs off with just minor use.

We move so much i have learned to throw things away, but I have stashed a couple of things. An old Stardust players card, two Stardust sportsbook, baseball hats. And an ashtray from both the Dunes and the Sands.

Actually, my wife was the Stardust book junkie. She'd go down every morning and play the ponies while I slept in. Her and Jimmie Walker playing the horses. It was a funny sight.

My main thing to collect is casino chips but I have a pretty decent collection of extinct players cards just from being a terrible pack-rat. I didn't set out to collect cards but never got around to throwing them away either.

I always keep my old cards but I also keep my old room key cards. Never know when you need them to get into something (like a hotel parking lot). I have a drawer full of old cards and other stuff (matchbook covers, ashtrays, err you didn't read that one, lol). Lucky for me I don't have/use many player's cards so I mostly just have the Boyd card. If I go to another casino I will just ask for a new card at the crap table, they usually will make another one for me if I ask. Many of my cards have expired or I'm not on their system anymore. I tried to use my 4 queens card and it didn't recognize it. I'm probably still on their system but I have to reactivate it or get a new player's card or something. But then I don't play that much over there, usually just the strike machines.

I have a downtown set that I keep at the ready in my carry on bag, just because three people in line can shut down most downtown slot clubs. On the strip I just get a new one, you only need about three. But I've saved a card from every property and have a separate stack for the one's that are gone.

My bride likes to see how many of those she can collect. She even gets cards from the locals just to get the cards. She never uses them!
She also hoards TITOs, seeing how many one-centers she can get from different casinos.

I only bring the cards for places I am guaranteed to visit so I can hit the ground running. Otherwise I just get a new one for casinos I happen to wander into.

I bought one of those business card holder binders and put all the old ones in there. Keep current cards together and put them in a baggie when I go to Vegas. Each morning I decide where I might play that day and assemble the daily stash in my back pocket.

I don't keep old cards, just the last active card that I have. I do have cards for about 30 casinos in LV and the stack is about the height of 3-4 decks of cards. I take them out every trip and put them in my rental car's console so wherever I end up the card is handy.
