    Hi guys

I really (REALLY) want to see and (American) Football game, turns out UNLV are playing when we are in Vegas but having checked it looks like Sam Boyd Stadium is tricky to get to from the strip if you don't drive. Is it as bad as it looks on Google Maps, does anyone have any experience cabbing or Ubering to and from Sam Boys?

    any advice gratefully received!

    Cheers all

    TNU

Uber, in the app will give you a price estimate. Of oourse it could be surge pricing at the time. I believe the bus goes there too, but never taken it.

I have not done it for several years but you can ride the bus from the Strip to the big downtown bus station, transfer, and get out there on another bus. Lots of stops, will take quite a while.

Uber or Lyft are likely way more logical, even if a pricier option.

UNLV games are really fun, we have gone to several. Make a bet before you go and then sit on the side of the stadium with the team you rooted for. Even a ten dollar bet will get you involved and hollerin' :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

They serve beer and liquor at the stadium, it's quite a party atmoaphere I thought.

We have either bought tickets from people outside the stadium for wayyyyyy cheaper than the ticket booth.....or after halftime you can actually walk in for free. ( hardly anyone goes to the games, UNLV is getting better though )

    Have fun

There is a bus that goes there on game days. It runs down Tropicana Ave from the strip. Check the schedule at the RTC website.

Thanks Guys, a bus from the Strip sounds ideal. Then Uber it back post surge price (pint or two after the game)

Hmmmmm.........I am not sure there will be anyplace to have a couple pints after the game ? The stadium is sort of out in the middle of nowhere and my guess is they stop serving in the stadium after the third quarter.

Sam's is "fairly" close, Eastside Cannery is a couple blocks closer........I walked it years ago from Sam's, it's a hike :faint:

I like Sam's as a resort, don't know anything about the Cannery.

    Have fun

There is a free shuttle from Harrah's on the strip to Sam's Town hotel. It's ostensibly for guests of Sam's town. I took it once and was not asked for any verification that I was a guest, but I suppose that may be different on game days if people abuse the privilege.

Then you could uber from there.

Personally I would much rather stay at Sam's town or the Eastside Cannery than anywhere on the strip, both of which are pretty nice resorts with reasonable prices and zero attitude, but I have been to Vegas many times, and usually drive. Mine is a minority view. If you are coming from overseas, the Strip is probably more of a quintessential Las Vegas experience.

The 202 (on Flamingo, right near the pedestrian bridge outside Ballys) goes there. No need to go Downtown to transfer. However, for anyone leaving from Downtown, the Boulder Highway Express goes there.

If you have any relationship with Boyd casinos (or even if you don't), you may want to ask a host there if they might have a tour bus going to and from the game. I once received game tickets on a comp from Sam's Town, and it included round trip transportation on a tour bus between the hotel and the stadium. Even if you already have your tix for the game, they might be gracious enough to offer a ride. Or, perhaps they'll provide a ride for some small fee. Can't hurt to ask. It probably wouldn't hurt to pretend that you are UNLV fans either!
