Over the years I've shot photos and video from all the usual recommended strip locations and am looking for new spots for an upcoming trip. I've heard that some of the hotel parking garages have good vantage points from their roof.

What are the best parking garages (strip only) to get good views of the strip hotels and casinos?

Also, if hotel security sees me on the roof with a tripod and camera, do you think they approach me and kick me out, especially if I am not staying at that hotel?

I might suggest pulling up google maps and look at the earth view. You should be able to spot some parking garages that would work. As to security... I suppose if you spent too much time there, some power hungry macho rent a cop will bother you. I would have you stuff all ready to go when you pull up and get to work.

Palms gives you a good panorama of the Strip.

Thanks for the idea. I did as you suggested. It looks like Bellagio garage has a good view. Also, I don't know whether it is Mirage's garage or TI's, but there is one that runs right along the strip, and is in between Mirage and TI, that looks like it would have a good view. I'll check them out when I am there in two weeks.

Bellagio definitely. Not sure if the best, but a very nice view. I always bring my newbie Friends up there.

Just curious if you've been to the top of the Stratosphere ? The 107 lounge is free, but you would be shooting through a glass window.

hammie, I have been to the top of The STRAT a couple times. Great view of the Las Vegas surrounding area, although most of the strip hotels are pretty far away for photos unless using a long telephoto lens.

My favorite view of LV from a garage is from Green Valley Ranch. Not just the Strip but you have the whole valley at your feet...sooo romantic.

We love the Bellagio view and agree with the Green Valley Ranch (would be perfect if not for the damn power lines).

I know you mentioned strip only parking garages but one of the better views I get of strip hotels is from the Rio parking lot (lot nearest to the strip). Good view of all the mid/south strip hotels, esp at night. Of course you also get a good view from the top of the Rio (voodoo lounge?).

Yeah, I also agree with the view from GVR but I also like the view of the strip from the top of the southpoint parking lot. Once I bought a burger at steak and shake and ate it on the top of the parking lot of southpoint.
