hi Dave enjoy your trip. The temptation is to try and do too much. Do what interests you especially if it's not available back home. Try and see a show, eat at a decent restaurant. Remember it's still hot (relative to England) at that time.

The sheer scale can be overwhelming, so wear comfortable shoes.
There is a magazine available online called LasVegasMagazine.com flick through that and you will get all sorts of ideas.

Any details about yourself you can offer would help. For example, what is your musical taste? Food preferences? Are you adventurous? Might also help to know where you will be staying and if you will be renting a car.

As first timers, if you have free time during the day, a company called Nomadic Walking Tours offers Free* Tours of the strip you might find interesting.

(*Tours themselves are free - if you like the job your tour guide did, tips are appreciated.)

    Have a great time!

David, you will great info from this board if you drill down into some of the previous threads, especially some of the trip reports. As a first timer, the best advice i can give you is have a loose plan and comfortable shoes. Welcome and enjoy the trip.

If you're planing to gamble do some research in advance. For example learn the basic strategy of playing blackjack and video poker for example. There are links in other threads.
I found the casino a little daunting on my first trip or I didnt understand the games. A bit of research before my second trip and I was able to win some $ at video poker (the machines at pretty much every bar top!)

Nice first trip, with 8 guys! What ever you do, I think you can't go wrong, but to answer you better (and for my own curiosity lol) a few questions:

    - For how long are you going?

    - Which hotel are you staying at and are you all at the same hotel?

    - Are you all in the same age group, or different generations?

As you're coming from England, I assume you will be there for longer than 3 nights. And as it's your first time, I guess you will be staying on the Strip. And since you are with 8 guys and chose the destination of Las Vegas, I can imagine you probably want to do some (if not a lot of) gambling and drinking.

Tbh gambling and drinking is about the only thing I did on my first trip. And I had a blast! Hooked for life haha. But based on the information you gave us I would say this:

Beer: TAG Sports Bar at the Linq (comped when you play bartop VP).

Casino/gambling (including comped drinks): Depending your age, if you're a young crowd: Cosmopolitan, Planet Hollywood, Cromwell, Flamingo/Margaritaville, otherwise: Caesars Palace, Casino Royale, Paris, Bally's, New York-New York (all the above are my own favorites, so other people might feel otherwise).

Pooltime: Certainly rent a cabana for your group! When you split the cost, it's very affordable and it can still be hot out there. Be aware, drinks can be expensive!

Night life: Not sure if you are into clubbing, but I can only say, be prepared for long lines and drinks are expensive! Further you will have a blast ;-)

Downtown: If you will stay a bit longer, I would certainly spend an evening Downtown. It's a completely different vibe (a bit like a carnaval). For beers and gambling (and cheap but nice buffet) Downtown, Main Street Station.

Transportation: Download the apps from Uber and Lyft. You will all have your first rides for free (or with discount), so with 8 people, that's a lot of free rides.

Have a lot of fun!
And don't be shy to tell us all about it! :drunk:

Have a great time and enjoy every second of the experience. I first went in 2008 and I'm back at the end of Oct for trip number 14, Vegas does really grab you and there is nothing in the UK that even comes close to this place.
