    My Trip Report

I've thoroughly enjoyed the trip reports on VMB for quite some time now - but have never posted one of my own. So, downloaded Tapatalk to give it a shot. Headed to the mountains of Western NC for a two-night stay at Harrah's in Cherokee. Comped room for the weekend (which is unusual for my CET Platinum status)...have some mailers for cash and food from Harrah's and I'm about to hit the road. It's a five hour drive from the Raleigh area - but Cherokee is "the only game in town" for casino action in NC. Should make it by noon today. I usually make four or five trips during a year, so I know the drive well. Have always enjoyed staying and playing there, and the last trip brought me my first handpay in 10 years - so here's hoping I can repeat this feat upload_2016-9-9_6-28-58.png on this trip!

I'm looking forward to following your trip. We live in Georgia and I've been interested in checking out Cherokee.
    Good luck!

Arrived on time, with an uneventful drive. Rooms not ready at noon, so played some BJ at a two-deck pitch game...up $400...$50 table. Then moved to a $1 Triple Play VP...STP DDB and hit this:

Got a high floor for my room - #2070 in the Creek Tower. The hotel has more than tripled in size since I first started coming in the late 90s...Creek is the newest. Even numbered rooms in the Creek Tower have a decent view of the Great Smoky Mountains. All of the rooms are large with a sofa and sitting area in every one I've stayed in. Caosino is across a skybridge that crosses Soco Creek. It too has dramatically increased in size with two major expansions in the last ten years.

Took a break from the tables late in the afternoon and enjoyed an adult beverage at the pool...

Not a big outdoor pool, but good bar and food service. Not busy on a Friday afternoon. They have about a dozen small cabana's....some shaded seating with ceiling fans, and a small stage for performers in the evening.

The evening has seen up and down play on BJ, VP and some slots. Before calling it quits for the night, I was surprised by another hit of quads after holding two Aces...I'm finishing the day just shy of a thousand bucks to the positive.

Back at it this morning, and I had a hit on a slot machine that's DEFINITELY not a normal result for me. I'll play slots as a short break from the table games, but have never really had a lot of luck. Tried "Game of Thrones" yesterday, but dropped $150 - not even hitting one bonus. So this hit on the Buffalo game this morning was a very, very pleasant surprise. Maybe a sign of things to come?

Very nice part of the country there! I'd probably go for some cocoa by Soco.

After good luck with BJ yesterday, I can't find a winning session today. Dropped $500 so far, including one table where the dealer did not bust during an entire shoe! Lost another $250 on 3-card poker. But got that back with a nice hit on a STP DB machine. Still fighting...

Good morning VMB ... Dawn at Cherokee. And that's why they're called the Great Smoky Mountains!

Should have just watched football last night. Could not get anything going at blackjack so I'm now back even again. >sigh<

Got to the casino floor early and spent a few minutes playing Game of Thrones, winning $50. These three machines always have folks playing - and waiting to play.

Just an fyi - room offers were based on your play and not your tier level. Not hard to find Diamonds that do not get room offers all the time.
