Hi VMBers, I've met a few fellow board members, as well as received a few PMs, asking me to share my pics of my Vegas chip casino chip collection. Well I finally got motivated tonight to take some pics so here they are. I've broken them up into several groups. I've got pics of open/closed casinos from off-strip, downtown & the east side and west side of the strip.

Here are my Downtown casino chips:

They all fit in this bowl, I've got to find a better way to display them.

This is my favorite chip porn. So many memories of collecting these going back to the 80's.

I accidentally duped some pics but I did my editing magic and fixed the pics.

BTW, I have some doubles of many of the open casinos but didn't put them in the pics.

This is about a quarter of my entire chip collection. I have between 700-800 chips from the 50's that my dad collected when he worked at the Sands, Dunes, Aladdin & Flamingo. Those chips are all $1 & $5 but are very rare and in mostly mint condition. They stay in the lock boxes at the bank and hardly ever see the light of day.

Nice collection. Puts mine to shame. But, I just started collecting about a year ago.

Serious? If so, it's a shame to keep them away from people's enjoyment (including your own). How about rotating a few hundred between a locked display case at your home and the bank to enjoy them from time to time?

Or are you keeping them for future sale? I wouldn't be able to sell them unless I was at the point of home eviction.

Are all acquired at face value? Seems so. And also seems a shame when the chip is just purchased to fill a hole. Not a felony but collecting from the casino itself is much more impressive.

Yeah, all of the chips that I have, from the casinos that are currently open, I have collected from the casinos in person. Lot's of strip walks going back to the 80s.

I've purchased/traded for some of the casinos that are closed.

Nice collection! But you have an MGM Grand in the closed strip properties section. Do you know something we don't?

The chip in the closed properties section is from the old MGM Grand, now Bally's (sold in 1986, most notable for the fire in 1980). The chips in the open properties are from the existing MGM at the corner of LVB and Tropicana.
