I'll be staying at the Plaza for the first time Sep12 - 15. Can anyone offer advice on room selection requests? Which rooms face Fremont St? Any rooms to avoid?

Any input is welcome. Thanks in advance.

I prefer to stay in the South Tower, as far from the elevator as possible.

You'll be enjoying Freemont Street when you're outside walking up and down.

There's no need to have that noise in your room.

Also, the South Tower has easy- actually the only - access to the pool.

If you have a car or are a big fan of the sportsbook the south tower is way more convenient. If you want to be heading out towards Fremont or the food court more often than North Tower is better. I always stay south tower and have not had any trouble with noise

My first time also from the 13-17th at the Plaza. So beyond requesting a room in South Tower what other recommendations?
Pop up Pizza vs. Pizza Rock which is better(yes I know taste is subjective). I don't want to eat Pizza more than once if possible and loved Pizza Rock when had it last year.

You'll love Pop-Up-Pizza too. I always like to grab a couple of slices and take them over to the lounge, by the BJ pit, and watch their lounge act.

Haven't tried the pizza there, but don't miss the Mob Meatballs and the crab cake at Oscar's Happy Hour from 4 - 7.
Awesome HH and women drink free on Thursdays.

Check the beer lineup at the BeerGarden, and if they have the kitchen going, grab a brat with your beer.

Head up to the pool. The Food Truck menu looks pretty good.

Also, walk up to MSS and have a beer and an appetizer during HH at 777.

    Cheers,
    cmasia

The north tower is nice for the view, but you will be listening to the sounds of Fremont til near 4am. South Tower is nice as someone mentioned if you have a car or would like to go straight to the sportsbook first thing.

I would recommend staying in the south tower but facing south (facing the strip). I stayed in the south tower facing North once and the music from the FSE bothered me (I like to take a nap in the afternoon/evening and the FSE music woke me up). I would also recommend a high floor since you get a better view. On the lower floors you get to see the Plaza parking lot so the view is better from a higher floor.

The north tower you get the brunt of the FSE noise.

HHAGG is a good place to eat but their portions are monstrous so hard for 1 person to eat it all IMHO.

BTW, there is a McD's at the Plaza and they might have some specials for seniors (people over age 50).

I eat pop-up way more than pizza rock because of how convenient it is to the sportsbook. But Pizza Rock's pizza is better.

ha ha, sorry, couldn't tell if you were a senior yet, esp from your picture. I am over 50 and happy because vegas sees people over 50 as seniors. In many places you have to be over 62 or 65 to be considered a senior so it is great to get as many discounts as I can.

My only problem is that I sometimes have to show my ID to prove that I am a "senior". But then getting up in the morning I feel like a senior, ha ha.

I prefer to stay in the North Tower but I ask to face out the back towards the mountains, that way you don't get the Main Street Stage racket.
    Enjoy your stay!

I have stayed in both. the north tower is the one overlooking fremont street . cool to see for a few minutes but ugodly loud to all hours. The room i stayed in in this tower had a balcony but it was more expensive then a regular room too.

South tower rooms are cheaper but basically the same as the north towers without the balconies or noise.

I've stayed there five or six times since the remodel. When I want to sleep I like it as quiet as possible since I'm noise sensitive. Having stayed in both the north and south towers I always ask for south tower, south (strip) facing, up and east (away from the railroad tracks).

When you get up one morning and decide to get a take out breakfast at Hash House....and you decide on some ham, biscuits, and eggs for yourself, and a pancake and bacon for your spouse......
DONT DO IT!!!!!! Just get the pancake and bacon and thank god if you both together can only eat half of it, since it is the size of a medium pizza!

Seriously though, we liked the plaza. We had a south tower room and it was convenient with a good (distant view) of the strip. Oscars had a nice happy hour and good food for dinner. We liked the casino because it is spaced out and doesn't feel near as crowded as other Fremont properties.

Good point. I never really thought about that before but now that you mention it I completely agree. I love to gamble at the Plaza and really, really like the casino portion of the property.

But then the Plaza may not feel as crowded because it isn't as crowded as the other fremont st. casinos.

I don't like to gamble at the Plaza, not very busy and I didn't like the gaming (table) staff. One time I stayed there I went to the craps table and the pit crew was making fun of a player (after the player left). IMHO, you never make fun of a player when other customers are within earshot. After that I always wondered what they were saying about me. I did play there once but because of the above incident I never felt comfortable playing there.

I have stayed at the Plaza but I seldom play there. I usually give my play to MSS since I like their 20x odds. I usually price check for rooms and will stay at the Plaza only if the total cost (including all hotel/resort fees and taxes) was lower than the other downtown hotels.
