Just got back from stay at Delano in late August. Wife has tentatively ok'd our next trip for 10 year anniversary in January. Saving for a 5k bankroll by then. Trying not to go degen and drive to lake Charles and hit golden nugget. It's only a 2hr drive from Houston. Do you guys prefer a larger bankroll for trips every 6 months or smaller bankroll for more frequent trips?

Smaller bankroll, more frequent/longer trips. I'd rather be gambling at the $5 tables downtown once every season than rolling at the $25 tables once a year!

I agree..smaller bankroll can make for more frequent trips.

I'm always in favor of the extra trip, or trips. I'm a degenerate Las Vegas addict and I'm usually missing the thrill about a week after we get home. We'll spend twenty nights in Las Vegas this year divided over three trips (4, 8, 8) so I'm always conscious of how my annual bankroll divides up. (We used to add a fourth short trip in July, but no longer.) If I took my annual budget and played it all in one trip I'd be a pretty High Roller, but I've never found I had twice the fun when playing twice the bet. I'd much prefer to have as many days/nights in Vegas as possible, and I'm more than willing to reduce the bankroll and be more careful with money management to do it.

I might change my answer if I were one of those guys who gets a much greater thrill betting only blacks, yellows and whites (or chocolates-wowza), but green is usually a good color for me unless it's house money, and I usually have a grand time playing (now maybe two greens to avoid playing 6:5 blackjack-green is plenty for dice). When not playing I'm always also just delighted to be in Vegas instead of somewhere else. So far this year I'm ahead and Johnny is occasionally rolling with all black, but not very often.

    More Vegas, please.

More trips. Plus, you never know what can happen. Some of my trips with my smallest bankrolls were BIG winning trips, relatively speaking and a couple of trips where I had among my larger bankrolls were killers, where the VP and slots sucked. So, just GO!

I would always opt for an extra trip. For me, the benefit of an extra trip would far outweigh the ability to gamble with a bigger BR.

I would always take more trips over a bigger bankroll, but I do contract work (no paid holidays), so the biggest Vegas expense for me is the hours I take off work :(

Definitely more trips. More chances to hit it big. Local casinos just don't do it for me anymore. I live in South Jersey, about an hour from Atlantic City. Haven't been there since Jan 2015. And I'm 30 minutes from Parx. I try to go to Vegas twice a year, but if I went to local casinos it would only be once a year. I'd rather save to money for more Vegas. Like most of you I love the Vegas vibe. You just can't get that at a local casino.

I don't really have a gambling itch, so to me it's more about Vegas. I don't gamble outside of that; once Wynn opens I'm sure I'll visit it once and that will probably be it.

I go twice a year. Would I like to go 3 or 4 times? Yes. Would I like to stretch the same annual bankroll over that number of trips, or cut the length in half? No way.

I'd rather have a higher bankroll "and" more trips:woohoo: oh... That wasn't the question was it:evillaugh:

I wouldn't want to change up the way I gamble ($bet and hours/day) so less bankroll for me would have to equal shorter trips. So I guess specifically talking Vegas, I'd have to go with more bankroll and less trips. You see...I'm fine with our 3 night charter trips to the Beau Rivage and do more trips in a year but when I go to Vegas it needs to be 6 or 7 nights. Make sense?

Although I gamble a fair amount during my trips, my trips are also my "vacations". So I try to get as many in as possible, and by being frugal, I can do that. I have always said I LOVE someone bringing food to me and cleaning the bathroom!

Odd man out. I like having the big bankroll even if it means fewer trips. You never know what the future holds and things like auto accidents could forestall the latter trips.

More trips. We take 3 a year with a $2000 budget (for 2) each trip. We can play cheap, eat, drink, watch bands, enjoy better weather, etc. Even though we're playing $5-10 blackjack and 75 cent slots, we can make it last for 4 days pretty easily. I'm afraid that if we built up our bankroll I would be highly disappointed, as the losses would probably go 3x while the fun stayed the same. Even if I'm there with little money, its still Vegas and its still better than my living room.

Wouldn't this logic result in you wanting more trips then? Take them now, as opposed to waiting, as the future is uncertain?

Looks like the consensus is more trips. I guess instead of a 5k bankroll every 6 months I could go down to 2500 every trip. Haven't lost a bankroll in years. Usually only lose about 3k a trip then save back up to 5k. So a 2500 bankroll would be appropriate I suppose.

We believe that a day in Las Vegas is a better day than a day at home.

Only thing that would be tough is playing green chip BJ. As well as $10 craps. $5 slots would be out of the question as well. Could not use my offers from MLIFE as my play would be significantly lower. I've gone to LV underfunded in my younger years and it isn't fun. I know a 5k bankroll is still low rolling for Vegas strip, but I gives me more options and the ability to deal with variance

Yeah if my annual bankroll was cut in half for some reason, I'm not sure what I'd do.

    1. Go once instead of twice
    2. Go twice for half as long each time
    3. Go twice for the same amount of time, but stay 100% off strip where the mins are 1/2 or less, and/or play less.

I think it would probably be 3, 2 and 1 in that order.

It appears i am the only one that prefers the larger bankroll and less trips.
