    Hi Gang,
Leaving for Vegas in 28 days for a glorious 7 days. We've been going to a Vegas for over 30 years and have never eaten at a Chinese restaurant. Can you give me some of your favorites, it can be on the Strip, off the Strip or downtown. Thanks in advance.
    Kathy

Never ever? Go to PF Changs in Planet Hollywood.

Lots of times at home or wherever, go to Gold Coast and get the hot pot at not ping pang pong. Or go to ppp and have at it.

If you have a car, there are some great Chinese places on Spring Mountain, the other side of the freeway. I think it's even called "Chinatown Plaza" or something like that.

Gold Coast has 2 Chinese restaurants. Both are great. Very likely you'll be the only non Asians there. In the last 3 years, I've spent 4 weeks in China. These restaurants have same dishes I ate in China. It was too authentic for my wife. The hot pot was too spicy for her.

Ping Pang Pong at Gold Coast. I think I was the only fool using a fork as my chop stick skills are severely lacking. :licklips:

Have you ever been? I'm too intimidated to go there without an Asian guide.

Guess I'm the only soul that doesn't like ping pang pong, to me Nood Express is 10x better and no one bothering you every 2 minutes...to each his own but the shrimp hotpots at NE are divine

I was craving fried rice while in Vegas (no not pregnant) and we went to PF Chang in planet Hollywood. We both really liked it even though our server was new and made sooooo many mistakes. Still all was good!

Fried rice is about the only dish that is nearly the same in USA and China.

I haven't been and should probably do something about that. I sent some local friends there after people here had been talking about it. My friends raved about the place they tried. (I want to say it was China Mama, but I'd have to ask to be sure.) They said at first they thought I sent them there as a joke as it all is in a Strip Mall. :haha:

Why would you be intimidated? Your money spends the same as everyone else's. ;)

China town restaurants might be a little too "authentic" to you if you've never been to a Chinese restaurant, maybe something more of your typical style like the one in the Rio or Gold Coast might suit you better.

I don't usually get Chinese food in Las Vegas as there is an abundance of them around where I live. However, when I passed by Chinatown on the way to the Wynn, I saw several chains that I recognized, one of them being Chengdu Taste. I can't comment on the Las Vegas location of Chengdu Taste, but if it's anything like the ones in the Los Angeles area, you should definitely give it a shot if you like spicy Asian food. The toothpick beef, wonton in chili oil, la zi ji ding (spicy fried chicken bits), and dan dan noodle would be my personal recommendations.

This is sort of off-topic hope all dont mind but i always enjoyed eating a good asian meal right at the table where I played in the California casinos. Those who have been, know.
I was a wonderin where one can get that sort of service at a casino in Vegas?
Like some dim sum or noodles. A crispy fried chicken piece over a bowl of steaming rice.

Im sure getting great chinese food per se would be easy to find at any casino locale as for the Op.

If you are interested in top shelf special occasion fine dining, Wing Lei at Wynn is one of the few Michelin star Chinese restaurants in the country. A friend of mine (Chinese) from Hong Kong said Wing Lei's food and atmosphere are both authentic and excellent. He said his last dinner there was maybe the best meal he'd ever had. Normally, he seeks out family owned restaurants in Chinese enclaves, observing that most Americans don't really know much about authentic dishes a Chinese family might eat at home. He does not like 'Chinese food for Anglos.' He's a foodie, so I count his Wing Lei observations as the highest praise.

For a "Pan Asian" multi selection of Asian cooking, including Chinese, try Wazuzu at Encore. It's one of our favorite restaurants and we eat there every trip. From what we can see, Wazuzu appeals to both American and Asian tastes-multi-cultural, upscale casual. We are Americans and not particularly adventurous with food, but we've really enjoyed some Wazuzu dishes we had never heard of or had before-our experimentation was rewarded.

Also "Pan Asian," including Chinese, is the recommended Noodles at Bellagio. Very good and, judging from the clientele, appeals to most cultures and ethnicities, including Chinese visitors.

Where we live I would not visit a truly 'authentic' Chinese restaurant (the kind of aforementioned place where you'll almost certainly be the only Caucasian face in the place and the only person not speaking Chinese) unless I'm with a friend who is a native Chinese speaker. Alas, I am the kind of sad American who would starve to death if required to eat only with chopsticks. Filter my recommendations accordingly.
