The menu and reviews intrigue me, and we have one morning where I MIGHT get Ace around early enough for a breakfast meal.

We have both always preferred independent and "holes in the wall" restaurants to corporate-type places. (though I know Eat doesn't qualify as a hole-in-the-wall). :)

    Any opinions or recommendations?

I ate there about 2 years ago. Got the grilled cheese and tomato soup and it didn't disappoint. Everyone in my group enjoyed their meals. If I remember correctly, the inside is kind of small so it was a bit of a wait (30 minutes maybe?) before we got a table.

Top-shelf breakfast - probably the best in the downtown area....

It's wonderful......I am not a foodie at all and I was impressed.

Went there with a couple of chefs from Hawaii and they really enjoyed it also.

The back story of the restaurant's inception is quite interesting and inspiring.

I would say go if it fits in your schedule, we found easy street parking, we did lunch and had no wait at all. I am guessing breakfast might be another story though. It's not a big place.

Looks damn tasty. One of these days I'll get my lazy ass downtown in the am and give that place a go!

    Thanks for the pic, mjames1229.

Agree with all, good food and a small restaurant. Looked like a lot of locals eating there when I went, and it is an easy walk over from the ELCo.

I just checked my records and it has been almost 4 years since my wife and I dined at Eat. We had beignets one morning and thought they were excellent though pricey.

The last two times I was there, they did not offer the beignets. Which is too bad, as they were a delight.

Great breakfast plates and great lunch items as well. As a previous poster noted, the backstory here is very interesting. The restaurant is the first to pay back the development proceeds from the Zappos folks for downtown.
