I'm combining these into one post; appreciate any advice/past experiences on either component. Disclaimers: I'm describing my usual play and I don't plan on altering play to try and get more comps. I understand variance and that in theory the only way to guarantee comps is a large enough bankroll and a willingness to lose said bankroll. I'm asking for others to share their experiences (if they are comfortable doing that) or giving advice based on my described play. Wynn: I'm staying on a teaser offer in October. My offer was 3 nights, two buffet passes, two show tickets and some free play. My bankroll is 1k per day and it will probably be almost all slots at the quarter level with some penny and maybe dollar slots. My guess is usual gambling time averages 6-8 hours per day. I play craps and other table games but I realize Wynn will have limits probably beyond my comfort level. I'm at home at a $5 or $10 craps table but I'm not expecting to find either at Wynn. For those that get offers from Wynn, is my bankroll and play in the ballpark for future offers or too low? If I'm way too low then I'll probably gamble at Wynn in the mornings and before bed but explore other properties during the day. Downtown: The day before the Wynn offer starts I will be staying at the Mirage or with a friend downtown, either way all my gambling will be downtown. I would like to pick one casino for the majority of gambling. I would be a new signup at any place except El Cortez. The last trip I gambled one full day at El Cortez and ended up getting a letter from a host and offered three free nights and some food money, I was going to stay here before the Wynn offer arrived in my mail. My bankroll would probably be 1k with about half the time on slots/VP and half playing craps ($30-$40 per roll usually). I have read on a few threads here that the Boyd properties usually reward people who travel more frequently (3 trips a year) and I will probably not be going 3 times a year. Any advice on a property where my bankroll and play might attract some future offers? My only real requirements for a room are clean and quiet as I don't spend much time in the room, don't have a need for the pool and downtown is easy to walk for food options. Thanks everyone.
If your gambling budget is 1K per day, that may or may not last too long at Wynn and 6-8 hours a day is a very HIGH estimate. My first trip to Wynn I did so poorly that I had to drive home a day early after hitting the limit on my marker account (and the Wynn minimum marker amount is $5K) As far a Downtown, I would consider the D. It was my home property in 2014 and they treated me quite well for much less Play than the Strip casinos. I don;t think it would hurt to be on the ground floor as Derek Stevens starts his push to build out his new properties downtown.
On your statement about Boyd requiring 3 trips a year, I know from experience that is not true. What is probably true is that they want to see 3 trips in order to get a good idea about your average play, which then will trigger offers based on that. While they may use a rolling 12 month average (I would say more like 15 to 18 months), I know you don't need 3 trips in a year to get offers. There is one Boyd property that I have not played at in over a year, and I am still getting great comped offers from them
I'd imagine your BR is plenty to continue getting offers from Wynn. They might not have the freeplay and other extras and might just be "Sunday-Thursday comp and reduced weekend rates", but you'll get something.
Playing slots you should continue to receive offers from the wynn. If you mainly play tables that might be another story. Iv'e received good offers from the vet/plz and the mirage with that bankroll. Also if you want want some offers on really low play. I've gotten some really good offers from the Palms and Orleans.
My bankroll is significantly lower than yours and I get 3 nights, $25 food, and $25 free play at the D regularly. At Wynn I only get discounted rates.
DW and I went to Wynn in Feb 2016 on a teaser offer. When I inquired about back end comps, they said that 10K coin in per day were a minimum to get any additional comps.
Downtown - wife and I spent an evening in March downtown. One stop was at Golden Gate, ran thru a grand in an hour there (lost about $300). Got on their mailing list for 4 free nights a month, with $25 food and $50 slot play. First time comp offer for me. Stayed at GG at the end of July. It’s not a real “nice” place, but it was a GREAT place for my brother and I. A clean-enough room, shower and place to sleep for a couple hours. Good craps, with low mins all day, every day. Looked in at the suites when rooms were being cleaned. They looked good, prob could get wife to stay in a suite. Also, we had a car and valet parking was VERY CLOSE, and easy.
I agree you'll probably get room offers and maybe some FP from Wynn for your slot play but it's all about how many points you generate and coin-in (not to be confused with cash inserted into the machine or your daily bank roll) so if you get some good machines where you can churn say $3-400 for quite a few hours and rack up points you should get offers. We have a joint account and generate about 5000 points a day and usually bring about $1200 per day to play with and always get our room comp'd for 6 nights and about $300 in FP up front. We also have about $300 in point play on the back end too. We play VP mostly and that game (depending on which variation you play) can allow you to play for quite a while sometimes on your orig investment. Or if you play DDB or TDB... not so much
I also stayed at Wynn on a teaser offer. Enjoyed my 3 days. Enjoyed the pool. Enjoyed the atmosphere. But, I gambled there very little as the games are horribly skewed. The rules on the table games are among the worst on the Strip (only double odds on craps, bad BJ rules). The pay tables on video poker are terrible with payouts around 96% at best. When it comes to slots you can't tell the actual payouts but if Wynn's other games are any clue then they also must be terrible...so don't expect your bankroll to last long. I enjoyed my 3 day vacation and have not been invited back. C'est la vie. There are many other great places to stay in Las Vegas, all of whom have offered me free stays (except Cosmo. What's up with them??). You already know how great the gambling is Downtown. Great table game odds. Great BJ rules. Great video poker paytables. I would imagine the slots are similar. The only casino Downtown that doesn't provide a fair shake for the gambling customer is the Golden Nugget; all the others have good games. Play Downtown where you like the atmosphere. Try out the rooms on different trips. All have good points and bad points. Golden Gate has great beds but the rooms, and especially the bathroom, are tiny tiny. 4 Queens gives out comps the easiest but you have to like their restaurants and rooms...they have crappy beds. Eventually, you'll find your fit. Enjoy Wynn. Then go and establish yourself Downtown.
Actually at Wynncore there is a LOT of 98% BP games in both casinos at .25, .50 & $1 and even better pay tables if you want to step up to $5 but that's normal at any casino. Agreed, not as good as downtown but then downtown and Wynncore are pretty much apples and oranges as far as all the non-gaming things that bring a person to a Vegas hotel.
We got our "teaser offer" by signing up for their card and playing long enough to earn a pair of free buffets at their very good buffet.............don't remember coin in, but we were playing 25 cent VP (5 coin bet) and some penny slots, probably played for around 4 hours or so............that was in Feb 2016, we got an offer in July for 3 comped nites at Wynn or Encore, plus $70 free play per day.......we are going in Nov!
Thanks to everyone that shared advice and experience. This gives me a better idea of how I want to play on my trip. I'll enjoy my time and play at the Wynn, leaning towards the D downtown. VegasSchemer: I have no idea what the requirements are for a teaser offer but I can give you my experience. I have played a total of two days at Wynn/Encore. The first day was in June 2015 and I was a new signup for the red card. Coin-in was about $500 (all slots), spun a digital wheel as a signup bonus and received a free buffet. My win/loss statement said I lost around $75. I received no teaser offer for this play but did receive some invites for slot tournaments. No free rooms were included with the offers The second day was in April 2016. Coin-in was about $1,300 (almost all slots, very little VP), received entry into slot tournament and two free buffets. My loss was $98. Teaser offer showed up in my email in July and a mailer for the same offer came in August, the offer is good through December. I booked October as a few weekends included comp weekend nights, all other times only comped Sunday-Thursday. Hope that helps someone.
