Whew! I saw my Vegas life flash before my eyes!
    Here's the story:
Myself, daughter and Mrs. LV are back to school shopping for my 6-year old grandson who is also with us. After lunch today in the food court at Crabtree Mall, I see people running right at us! Upstairs on both sides, downstairs on both sides. I think to myself what is this? Flash mob? Do they still do those? Then the eureka moment...if all these folks are running, maybe I should be running too. [emoji53]
I turn around to find the family and they already had it figured out. We got separated. An active shooter. Eventually after a couple hours, we hooked up and were able to leave. I've never seen so much Kevlar, assault weapons, helicopters and SWAT live and in living color! I can bet you a yellow chip or two that most of the people there were glad to see the police!
Funny thing though...after my folks were present and accounted for, my first thought was Vegas!

Can totally relate. Mrs. F and I were in Vegas the night of the shooting in front of the Bellagio. We were celebrating our 10th wedding aniversary, just walked out of Blue Ribbon Sushi at Cosmo around 7pm walking towards the fountains. All of a sudden we heard two gun shots and heard a couple of people scream. Grabbed my wife and started running up the driveway towards the Jockey Club entrance, we made it into the Bellagio parking garage area. We got into the lobby before they locked down the lobby.

Whenever I am in Vegas and see a bunch of people running towards me I assume the timeshare people are up ahead.

    Glad you are safe!

Lovegas, you get the Vegas 'degen of the day' award. Gotta keep your priorities straight.

Seriously - Thank goodness all ended well for the family - I'd be a basket case the rest of the day..

I was at discount tire last week and they had their emergency action plans hanging on the wall, one of them was active shooter, I thought it must say "run like hell".

I appreciate the kind remarks. On a serious note, we are all shaken after that ordeal. The reality of it all is tomorrow isn't promised. The 6-year old is skiddish about malls and crowds now.
After the wife was pick-pocketed of her iPhone at MGM in April, she was beginning to show signs of recovery and crowd readiness. Today, after being whisked away to the bowels of the mall then escorted out by SWAT with her hands on her head, it's going to take a little more time to heal.

Glad your family (and everyone else in the mall it sounds like) is okay.

I'm happy you and your family are ok; I can well imagine how unsettling this event has been.

Crabtree Valley Mall will open as usual on Sunday while police continue their investigation into what sent shoppers stampeding to safety on a busy Saturday afternoon.

Police were called to the mall just after 2:30 p.m. on the report of gunshots, but, after four hours of searching, they found no shooter, no one who had a gunshot wound and no shell casings.

"We have not determined that there was a shooter," said Raleigh Chief of Police Cassandra Deck-Brown. "We're looking at all possibilities. People heard the popping sound. Some thought it was a gunshot, and we have to evaluate all possibilities."

While officers had secured the interior of the mall, Deck-Brown said they would look to 911 calls, mobile phone video and surveillance video to get to the bottom of what happened. In an announcement over the Crabtree Valley Mall public address system, Raleigh police asked that anyone who saw or heard gunshots step forward to help with the investigation.

Oh my goodness! That's a scarring experience....

Glad you're okay. What's wrong with people these days? Why kill innocent folks...
