Hey y'all. In October I'll be heading to Vegas with a Vegas noobie. We're getting in late on a Thursday night. And, I want to show her a nice view of the strip. We'll be running around at a convention for most of the weekend, so I'd like to start the weekend off right. Is The STRAT still a good/romantic place to look at the strip? We won't be having dinner, but I know the bar overlooks the strip. Hopefully this time is better than the last time I took a noobie to Vegas.
Where are you staying - it would help with suggestions. There are bars at the top of MBay and Delano with great views. Up the Eiffel Tower is great. The big wheel at Linq. Standing on the curb at Bellagio in the evening is special.
Look at my timer. But, just in case you can't see it(stupid taptalk) I'm staying at PH. I always thought that there was only the restaurant at the top of the Eiffel tower. Guess you learn something every day. And, yeah, defiantly going to take her to see a fountain show at Bellagio.I'll have to look into the bar at MB. You'd think they'd have something like that at Bellagio. Kinda looks like a nice place to have one right there in the center top.
Although the top of the Strat is a nice place, the looks of the area isn't that great, and I like special evenings to have that special touch in all aspects. You can also check out the Mandarin Bar on the 23rd floor of the Mandarin Oriental. You can see where the bar is since it is where the windows are inset from the rest of the building. It has a great view of the strip both to the north and the south. It might be a good idea to make a reservation if the night is a busy one. The Petrossian Lounge in Bellagio is nice since there is a pianist there also. While sipping on Champagne, you can watch people going from the lobby into the casino to go to their room elevators.
Strat is a good view, but I wouldn't call it romantic at all. Too many younger people running around. Eiffel tower is nice, but the observation deck at the top is small and a bit cramped. I would say either the foundation room at Mandalay Bay or if you go to the High Roller at a slow time you can get a pod to yourselves
We go up the Eiffel Tower every trip. You are caged in but can walk a full 360 around it so you get a pretty decent view of everything. It looks right down at the fountains so you get a good show from way up top. There used to be 2-1 passes onlline but I haven't seen them in awhile.
I don't know whether it's a requirement that you be at a bar or restaurant, if not, one of the best overall romantic spots in Vegas is watching a fountain show at night by exiting Bellagio near the front desk and going across the port cochere to the viewing area. You get the full sweep of the strip as well as the fountains.
+1. This is where we take Vegas newbies to see the fountains. It provides a much better view of the fountains and less crowd than the street side.
I'll also mention the bar at Mandarin Oriental, and also if you're at the south end of the strip the Foundation Room at Mandalay Bay
Wife and I love going out on the roof at Voodoo at the Rio. It's usually a little chilly and dark up there on the roof and makes for some nice canoodling moments. Strat is nice but it's a little too far from the famous sights for me.
Thanks for the tip. We have visited Bellagio many times to see the conservatory, but have never viewed the fountains from this area! We'll definitely be checking it out at the end of the month.
Let me put it this way. If you are on a first date and it's going well, arrange to be in that spot when Con Te Partiro is playing, and you should know what to do.
