Yes it was at Luxor. I don't remember the name of the bar, but it was in the center of all the action and just a few steps from cashier. I believe there was only one machine that offered it. Where is TAG lounge?

Centra Bar? You wouldn't have a pic of the paytable would you? That might be one of the better options at that bar now.

And as wanker said, TAG Lounge is at Linq. If you like craft beer it is the best place to go. Bar top paytables are the best that Caesars properties offer. No progressives at any CET bars though. :(

Orleans .25 prog was over $2,200 when I left a couple weeks ago. It was the game at the lounge bar tops. I hit the dollar prog three years ago for close to 8 grand.

If you're downtown, there are lots of VP game types with progressives and decent pay tables at the Four Queens. And that's true at their bars as well (in fact, that's where most of them are).

The only progressive I've hit was at the Four Queens a couple of years ago on our last morning just before leaving for the airport. I put $20 in the 10/7 DB progressives along the wall near Magnolia's and hit the $1203 progressive on about my fifth hand. People around me were like "Unfair, you just got here!" I answered that apparently they hadn't noticed me over the preceding three days! Sucked to have to hang around for all the paperwork for the W2G, but it was my first, so sort of cool in a way.

They had to do paper work for $1200? How long did that take?

Anything with a $1200 or over prize yields a W2-G, so keep that in mind too. If there were two progressives, one at $1180 and one at $1220, I would consider the $1180 machine unless you plan to write the W2-G off with other losses.

I’m a big fan of bartop progressives. As for bartender’s tips on the machines, I don’t think you want to take them to the bank any more than any other strangers comment. However, I have gotten to know some of these people quite well through repetitive visits and some of them play VP regularly themselves at other casinos. They watch people play at their bars 40 hours a week so it is reasonable to say they have seen a lot of action going on around them and do have far more insight into their worksite than an visitor.

My favorite progressive memory occurred back around 2004 at Treasure Island. MGM had closed the very popular Battle and Swashbucklers Bars leaving only the Breeze bartops along with a handful in front of the now defunct Isla. We were staying at TI for five nights and one morning we came down, ate in the Café and went to the Breeze for a Bloody Mary. We had left there the night before chasing a $1500+ progressive. Overnight, it had grown to $7500+! Our bartending pals there told us they had just closed down the nearby dollar progressive bank and had to apply the money somewhere and picked the quarter progressive at the bar. Little did we know that we would be planted in the same seats for the next 17 hours. By early afternoon, all 40 some seats there were occupied and would remain that way until the wee hours of the next morning. By 10:00pm that night, the progressive exceeded $11,000. My wife and I were nearing exhaustion but we agreed to play for a few more hours on hyper speed. We took off with our rendition of “Top Gun” playing at Mach II. We noted our player’s points when we began the step up and when we quit and saw that we had both been playing at around 1,000 games per hour. We both made a number of errors because of playing so quickly but incredibly the machines kept us even over the next four hours. By 2:00 am. we both crashed and burned unable to continue play. Another TI regular hit the quarter progressive for just over $14,000 around 4:00am. Happily, we didn’t get hurt while participating in the most exciting VP hunt of our lives. Geez, what fun that experience was!

That's pretty crazy...too bad you couldn't hit it. :( Were the regular progressives at the Breeze Bar pretty high back then too? The amount the meter moved AFTER the progressive got dumped is crazy...probably once in a lifetime odds. I'm happy to find anything over $2k now. :( Only have seen $2500+ twice (both on 0.8% meters...aka add one penny per max bet).

Chump (&BG), Huh, I don't remember that VP war story from VW. I do remember your seven RF's in one trip though - at least I think it was seven!
I hope you two are doing well. Nice to see that some VW'ers made their way over to this board :) Aramis

There is a set of 6 connected machines at Treasure Island Minnesota with a royal progressive, quarters, that moves at a 2.4% meter. It is often over $2,500. The best game is 6/5 triple bonus poker plus. I figure 100% payback at just over $2,400.

Vp breaking the law unless they except progressives to the rule. Sweet.

Yes, progressives are exempt from the 98% rule cap.

How do we tell if a progressive machines jackpot is high enough to play?

When you're playing progressive vs regular, is the strategy different?

Roughly on .25 machines every $500 adds 1% so it depends on base game and what your threshold is. If it is say 6/5 jacks progressive and there is 9/6 jacks available non progressive.

Progressive would need to be close to $2500 to have roughly better return than 9/6.

Strategy does change, as it increases you go for royal more. You throw away pairs for three to royal etc...

I'm sure tring will fill in the blanks and correct my errors

My local has a progressive, 7/5 bonus [98.1]

I've found it as high as $2100 once.
