So because we knew we were going to NoLa in October, we booked a Sun-Thursday in the cheapest room at Harrahs, using our diamond card to knock off the resort fees (Still, $75 a night for sun-thur)
So we just get an offer for those nights free..so we call VIP services to have our reservation switched over to the offer (to try and save a few bucks)..they say, sorry there's no availability...I said "right, I have a room already booked" they said, sorry for that offer there's no availability...hahaha, I just hung up.
I know I need a host to do this for me.. but we touched harrahs so bad, they won't touch us with a ten foot pole. (We're still a LITTLE ahead of them..but we keep losing, so it's dwindling)

Maybe cancel the other one, then try to book the offer?

But... it is possible the "free" rooms are already sold. As they get close to being full, they reduce the feebies. Normal practice.

Did you ask if it was available at any of their partner hotels in NOLA? Harrahs partners with about 5 other hotels there for additional rooms. I've stayed at the Wyndham for free before.

    Offer or calendar rate?

October tends to be pretty high tide for rates. No shock if the offer isn't available.

I guess I'm just not used to a hotel having availability, but not letting me use an offer (in the past if there was a room available, my comp room was good; I guess normal places only block out x amount of "comp" rooms, and once they hit that limit, no mas)

Yeah, they might have hit the limit. I could believe it in a place like New Orleans. I've seen Boyd offers in Vegas shut us out before, even CET a couple of times because we're too low on the totem pole/too late to the game.

Same thing happened to us at Foxwoods. Have a 2 night free offer, no rooms available but I can book and pay for them on the same offer, crazy.

This is not unusual. Happens in just about any market. All based on supply and demand, and the almighty ADT.
